Is Harry Potter On This Weekend

Don't Miss

Harry Potter Filming Locations

VLOG | New Orleans, Croque Madame, Army of Thieves, Harry Potter & last weekend in Playa del Carmen

If you dont fancy being locked in a room for an hour or youre running low on galleons, you can hit up some famous Harry Potter filming locations and iconic London sights instead.

These are all free things to do in London, which is a welcome respite from the other very expensive Harry Potter activities on this itinerary!

Id recommend checking out Millennium Bridge, Cecil Court, Australia House, and Goodwins Court. Youll instantly recognise some of these places as the bridge Voldemort destroyed, Diagon Alley, Gringotts Bank and Knockturn Alley respectively.

Cecil Court is lined with antique bookshops so you can while away some time here perusing the shelves of these beautiful London bookshops. A couple of them even sell coveted first editions or signed copies of Harry Potter!

Running time

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is a 2011 fantasy film directed by David Yates and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is the second of two cinematic parts based on J. K. Rowling‘s 2007 novel of the same name and the eighth and final instalment in the Harry Potter film series. It was written by Steve Kloves and produced by David Heyman, David Barron, and Rowling. The story continues to follow Harry Potter‘s quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort‘s Horcruxes in order to stop him once and for all. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry’s best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Principal photography began on 19 February 2009, and was completed on 12 June 2010, with reshoots taking place in December 2010.

The Blu-ray and DVD sets were released on 11 November 2011 in the United States and on 2 December 2011 in the United Kingdom. The film was also released in the Harry Potter: Complete 8-Film Collection box set on DVD and Blu-ray, which included all eight films and new special features. Part 1 and Part 2 were released as a combo pack on DVD and Blu-ray on 11 November 2011 in Canada.

Weekend Estimates: Breaking Dawn Posts 8th

The beginning of the end for the Twilight franchise is here, and, as expected, big money is being made by Lionsgate/Summit. While this installment doesn’t look like it will break franchise records, Lionsgate is predicting a $141.3 million opening weekend, which will be the 8th-best of all time, assuming it holds up. New Moon will most likely remain the top opener for the franchise with $142.8 million, although it will be a close-run thing. Twilight will most likely end up the 5th-highest-grossing franchise at the domestic box office, behind only the “box office gods”, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Batman and James Bond.More…

Note: This list contains actors who appeared in at least two movies in the franchise.

Harry Potter Movie Marathon Foods

Harry Potter Weekend Promo

Every year we like to change up what we have for food during our Harry Potter Movie Weekend. We have a few staples that we always have and one of those things is butterbeer. We love butterbeer. We love it hot, we love it cold, iced, in the form of a latte. You name it, we love it. Over the years weve tried our fair share of Butterbeer recipes and we think weve finally found some of our favorites. We created a butterbeer pancake recipe, perfect for the start of the movie marathon! We also included a hot Butterbeer recipe in this post, but weve also tried this recipe from our friend Susan and its just delicious.

While our meals always include some kind of Harry Potter themed or British food, I was really lucky to be gifted this Harry Potter themed cookbook from my friend Susan at Christmas last year. Of course this was a perfect reason to try out some of the recipes!

Analysis: Why Havent There Been Fifty Shades Of Grey Copycats

This weekend the Fifty Shades franchise is expected to surpass $1 billion in total worldwide box office with the release of the final installment, Fifty Shades Freed. All that income comes from films with an estimated combined budget for all three films of $150 million. The last time Hollywood saw this kind of success with an erotic drama/thriller, it created an entire subgenre that ate its way all through the 90s. Yet, after this year, it seems Valentines Day weekend will be left without a Fifty Shades replacement. So why the hesitancy from Hollywood to step up to the challenge this time?

Fans Celebrated Harry Potter This Weekend On What Would Be His 41st Birthday

ByKatherine Webb01 August 2021

Its not uncommon for fans to recognize big moments and anniversaries related to the musicians, actors, movies or TV shows they love the most. Potterheads, however, have taken their annual celebrations to an elite level. They commemorate the Battle of Hogwarts, shout out their favorite characters on their birthdays and, of course, honor important milestones for The Boy Who Lived. This weekend was no different — Harry Potter fans took to Twitter to celebrate what would be the beloved protagonists 41st birthday.

According to J.K. Rowlings timeline, Harry James Potter was born on July 31, 1980. Though technically, the Gryffindor legend was a Gen X-er, his story has inspired millions of Millennials and Gen Z fans around the world. So of course it was only natural for them to flood social media with their birthday festivities.

Fans found a variety of ways to honor Harry Potters 41st trip around the sun. There were fan-made video edits all over , including this one beautiful glimpse into the highs and lows of the wizards life:

Some fans showed their creativity in other ways, with fan art and some fun GIFs, including one that showed Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape partaking in some birthday festivities:

And there were plenty of heartfelt sentiments shared from fans all over the world about what the Harry Potter series and the character at the center of it has meant for their lives:

Potions And Cocktails At The Cauldron

Your second magical experience of the day will involve a spot of potion making! The Cauldron has become popular worldwide for its immersive Harry Potter cocktail experience.

Of course, its not officially a Harry Potter experience, its simply inspired by fantasy and science-fiction. However, it looks like a Harry Potter classroom, youre dressed like a Hogwarts student and the ingredients can be found on Hogwarts supply list so its basically a Harry Potter bar.

The Cauldron is now onto Volume III of its pop-up experience and I was fortunate enough to be invited to both Volume I and Volume II where I had a fantastic experience brewing tasty alcoholic concoctions. You can read my full review of The Cauldron here and book tickets here.

Tickets cost £34.99 per person at peak times, which is definitely worth it given that youre getting 3 cocktails and a 1 hour and 45 minutes potions class!

International Box Office: Fantastic Has A Beast Of An Opening With $1433 Million

WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER | Oct. 22-23 Fun Weekend Vlog

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opened in first place on the international chart with $143.3 million in 63 markets. The film had the biggest opening of the Harry Potter franchise in 16 of those 63 markets, but ironically not in the U.K., where it had its biggest opening. The film debuted in first place there with $18.90 million in 666 theaters. This is the third best in the franchise behind the two DeathlyHallows films. Some of the markets where Fantastic Beasts set the franchise record include South Korea, where it made $10.64 million on 1,431 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $14.15 million. It did the same in Russia with $10.29 million on 1,173 screens and in Brazil with $6.4 million. More…

Harry Potter Afternoon Tea

Around lunchtime, head to Soho for fabulous afternoon tea with Cutter & Squidge. Their Harry Potter Afternoon Tea is one of the best in London and youll be treated to small sandwiches, cakes and colourful drinks. Youll need all this to fill you up before the 5 hour theatre showing!

This experience is similar to The Cauldron in that you are in a potions class, but this one is even more interactive. Once all the students are robed and seated, the potions master will appear at the front of the class and lead you through some basic spells.

Youll make a strange and sweet dessert to start involving cinnamon, raspberry, meringue and popping candy. I was not enthused by this but I did appreciate the wand-waving and magical atmosphere.

After the slightly disappointing dish to start, the tea is brought out and it is wonderful.

Scrumptious British sandwiches and a large helping of sweet treats. Cutter & Squidge is one of the best bakeries in London so its a real treat to get to taste so many of their delicacies in one afternoon!

My favourite item had to be the cauldron cake, which was beautifully designed to look like a miniature cauldron.

The potions master is also hilarious, very enthusiastic and a wonderful host. You are very well looked after at Cutter & Squidge and I guarantee youll be laughing your socks off through the interactive periods.

All Aboard The Hogwarts Express

Harry Potter is an endlessly fascinating hit franchise. The ever-expanding wizarding world has inspired web hubs, theme parks, and, probably most importantly, movies, even as author J.K. Rowling has become an incredibly problematic figure. When Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone got the big-screen treatment in 2001 with director Chris Columbus, writer Steve Kloves, and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, the story of the boy with the lightning-bolt scar got a second, more potent life by making all of the book’s fantastical magic, hidden worlds, and incredible creatures “real.” Sorcerer’s Stone grossed almost $1 billion worldwide and created a hunger for more Potter experiences, justifying successful adaptations , spinoff prequels about fantastic beasts, and potentially an original TV series.

Maybe years ago, you bought coveted DVD collections, but those might be lost somewhere at your parents’ house. In the age of streaming, you’d probably much rather watch the movies online somewhere when you need a fix. Here’s where you can currently satisfy your Potter craving.

Freeform And Harry Potter

In the United States, it is one of two cable/satellite network television broadcasters for the Harry Potter films, along with the Disney Channel. The network is an affiliate of ABC, which serves as the network television broadcaster for the Harry Potter films, though it airs them much less frequently.

Since its acquisition of the films, FreeForm or the former ABC Family have often aired them during an extended weekend block titled the “Harry Potter Weekend Event.” Broadcasts of the films are also a feature of the network’s “25 Days of Christmas,” in which it breaks from its normal programming schedule mainly for the broadcast of holiday-themed specials and films from December 1-25.

To date, FreeForm has broadcast all eight films in the series, premiering Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 on 12 May2013 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 on 30 November2013.

ABC Family / FreeForm broadcasts typically include material from deleted scenes edited seamlessly into the films. Many broadcasts have also included exclusive content during the commercial breaks, such as interviews with cast and crew and/or previews for upcoming film or DVD releases. In January 2016, ABC Family changed its name to FreeForm.

Currently, since 2016, Freeform is not showing Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as HBO has the rights to the film.

Daily Box Office: Ralph Is Breaking Record Books

Harry Potter weekend!!!! How was your HP experience ...

Its Thanksgiving long weekend, which means many studios are closed and are not reporting official numbers. However, one of the studios that is reporting numbers is Disney and they are reporting record-breaking numbers. Ralph Breaks the Internet earned $18.5 million on Wednesday, which is significantly more than either Coco or Moana managed the previous two years. In fact, this is more than Frozen managed during its record-breaking wide expansion back in 2013. This films reviews are great and it earned an A minus from CinemaScore, so it should have good legs and could top Frozens $93.59 million five-day opening. In fact, some studios think it has a real chance of $100 million during its five-day opening. Im not that bullish, but even if it only earns $90 million over five-days, it will still be a monster hit and way more than we predicted. More…

Weekend Predictions: Will Fantastic Be Fantastic Or Will It Merely Be A Beast At The Box Office

At the beginning of the month, we thought there would be four wide releases / expansions this week. However, it turns out there will be just one, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The lack of wide releases should help it at the box office and there is a small chance it could top $100 million over the next three days. While there are no other wide releases, there are a few films opening or expanding semi-wide. Of these, The Edge of Seventeen is the only one with a realistic shot at the top five. It is earning the best reviews of the week and did earn a lot of film festival buzz, so that should help. Billy Lynns Long Halftime Walk had an amazing opening in limited release last weekend, but it will likely struggle as it expands into just over 1,000 theaters this weekend. Finally theres Bleed for This, which is expected to barely make the top ten. This weekend last year, the final installment of the Hunger Games franchise opened with just over $100 million. Theres a slim chance Fantastic Beasts will do the same. Even if it doesnt, the depth this year is much better than last year and that should help 2016 win in the year-over-year comparison. More…

Contest: Game Of Chance

There are three wide releases, but only two of them have any chance of becoming more than a midlevel hit. Free Birds is a digitally animated family film that has a very timely release, but it is also a second-tier CG animated film. Ender’s Game is a $110 million film based on a book aimed at young adults. It is yet another film trying to tap into the vacuum left behind by Harry Potter. I don’t think either of them will be big hits, but one of them has to be the target film. I think Free Birds will have better legs, but that Ender’s Game will have a better opening. As such, it is the target film for this week’s box office prediction contest. In order to win, one must simply predict the opening weekend box office number for Ender’s Game. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the film’s opening 3-day weekend box office , regardless if they go over or not, will win a copy of The Conjuring on Blu-ray Combo Pack.

Thursday Night Previews: Fantastic Doesnt Quite Live Up To Its Name With $875 Million

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them pulled in $8.75 million during its midnight shows last night. Thats good, but a little lower than expected and not even the best of the fall so far. It was beaten by Doctor Strange, which earned $9.4 million just two weeks ago. Worse still, Fantastic Beastsreviews have fallen to 74% positive. Thats still good for a blockbuster release, but it is the lowest in the Harry Potter franchise and will likely hurt the films box office performance over the weekend. It should still make over $80 million this weekend, but it will be close. We might have to revise that prediction lower tomorrow when we have Fridays estimates. More…
