In 2000, after a seven-month search, lead actor Daniel Radcliffe was discovered by producer David Heyman and writer Steve Kloves seated just behind them in a theatre. In Heyman’s own words, “There sitting behind me was this boy with these big blue eyes. It was Dan Radcliffe. I remember my first impressions: He was curious and funny and so energetic. There was real generosity too, and sweetness. But at the same time he was really voracious and with hunger for knowledge of whatever kind.”
Radcliffe had already established himself as an actor in the 1999 BBC television production of David Copperfield in which he played the title role’s childhood years. Heyman persuaded Radcliffe’s parents to allow him to audition for the part of Harry Potter, which involved Radcliffe being filmed. Rowling was enthusiastic after viewing Radcliffe’s filmed test, saying she didn’t think there was a better choice for the part of Harry Potter.
Also in 2000, the then unknown British actors Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were selected from thousands of auditioning children to play the roles of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively. Their only previous acting experience was in school plays. Grint was eleven years old and Watson ten at the time they were cast.

The last movie adapts the other half of the last book. It deals with the end of the story, while the protagonists have everything figured out but the stakes are higher than ever.
The last stand takes place at Hogwarts grounds and involves a few characters switching sides at the last moment and one revealing their true allegiance was to the protagonist all along.
Harry realizes what the last Horcruxs is and now has the possibility to destroy Voldemort forever but at what cost.

Upcoming Harry Potter Movies
Fantastic Beasts was originally discussed as a planned trilogy, but then in November 2016, J.K. Rowling announced that the story would be spread out over five films. Producer David Heyman confirmed to us that they’re aiming to release one film for the series every two years. While that was the case for the 2018 release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, it appears that the third movie in the franchise wont see the light of day until at least fall 2021, but even that window is up in the air due to the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic. Fantastic Beasts 3
Production on Fantastic Beasts 3 was originally supposed to get underway in summer 2019, but then shooting was delayed to fall 2019 before shifting once more to spring 2020 so that J.K. Rowling could work on the script of the movie that star Dan Fogler said was going to be bigger than the first two combined. Production on the third movie in the franchise that will eventually consist of five titles got underway in early 2020 but was almost immediately put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cast and crew eventually returned in September 2020, but the production had another setback a few months later when Johnny Depp was asked to resign prompting the hiring of Mads Mikkelsen to portray the villainous Grindelwald. The movie is currently scheduled to land in theaters on July 15, 2022.
Hopefully True: The Show Will Take Place At Hogwarts
Hogwarts was one of the most magical parts of the Harry Potter series. Fans absolutely loved watching the students get sorted into different houses and the mysteries surrounding the school. There’s no doubt if there’s a Harry Potter series in the works, it would be the most interesting to view new students as Hogwarts.

2022 is also the year when the highly anticipated console game from Warner Bros. Games Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy, is set to be released. Fact: Ginny Weasley is awesome and doesnt get nearly enough to do in the Harry Potterfilm franchise. Luckily, since finishing the Harry Potter book series, Rowling has taken to Pottermore to share the occasional supplementary glimpse into the wizarding world. Some of the more narratively-minded ones have been newspaper articles written by Ginny Weasley from the 2014 Qudditch World Cup, played in Argentinas Patagonia desert.
The film could stay close to Ginny Potter in her role as Daily Prophet correspondent but follow the controversy of the 427th Quidditch World Cup, starting off with the drama of the opening ceremonies and leading to a potential political plot that Ginny uncovers.
The film would tie in well with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themas one of the magizoologists on hand to quell the mascots at the cermonies was Rolf Scamander, grandson of Fantastic Beastsprotagonist and famous magizoologist Newt Scamander. Rolf also happens to be married to Harry Pottersupporting character Luna Lovegood. Personally, Ive always wanted to spend more time with Ginny and Luna. Why not give them a whole movie filled with plenty of political intrigue and the occasional Wronski Feint?

Its been 10 years since the Harry Potter original film series ended, though viewer interest in a direct sequel has been anticipated since the Jack Thorne-written sequel play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child debuted in 2016. Since then, the original stars like Daniel Radcliff, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson have been routinely questioned about the possibility of reprising their iconic roles in a movie adaptation.
Although the original Harry Potter movies concluded in 2011, the franchise has continued with the Fantastic Beasts prequel movie series. Considering the newer films havent reached the same widespread acclaim as the originals, viewers are all the more eager to see the core characters back on the big screen. However, it appears some of the main actors were more excited to be leaving Harry Potter in their past after more than a decade of filming rather than anticipating future reprisals.

Could Harry Potter & The Cursed Child Happen
While JK Rowling and Warner Bros. have both denied that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child would ever be adapted for the big screen in the past, Kilar’s remarks rekindled old rumors. There are, however, a great many avenues a future Potter project could take, including a series about the Marauders or Harry’s career as an Auror. Adapting the play to the big screen would open the content to Potterheads who weren’t able to see the play, but taking into account that the play is shown in two parts because of its length, many argue that a movie version of Harry Potter in the Cursed Child wouldn’t really work and might it be better adapted in a TV show format. It so happens that the studio has announced a call for writers for a potential spinoff show set in the world of Harry Potter.

Hopefully True: We’ll Get To See Hagrid In Fantastic Beasts 3
We’ve already seen a few of our favorite characters from the Harry Potter franchise appear in the Fantastic Beasts series, such as Nagini and Dumbledore. Eddie Redmayne mentioned that he’d love to see Hagrid appear in Fantastic Beasts 3, which didn’t translate well with fans and left many believing that he’s going to appear in the film. If anything, we hope J.K. Rowling grants his wish!
Hopefully Not True: The Rumored Show Will Explore Different Parts Of Europe
If the news of the upcoming Harry Potter series is true, there have also been rumors of the show taking place in different parts of Europe. We did get to see some wizards from other parts of Europe in the Goblet of Fire, but Hogwarts is certainly the most interesting setting… and it’s one we’d prefer to watch!

Rowlings’ series of novels became a sensation, leading to an eight-film blockbuster franchise. Since then the Wizarding World has been expanded thanks to projects like the Fantastic Beasts movies, as well as Broadway plays and theme park attractions. But could actual Harry Pottersequels be coming next?
J.K. Rowling has continued to grow the Wizarding World in the years since Harry Potter wrapped up, and it’s clear the author has plenty of future stories planned for the franchise. It was recently revealed that a Hogwarts-set series will be coming to HBO Max, but now some fans are wondering if direct sequels to Harry Potter would be coming next. This idea gained traction when WarnerMedia Chief Jason Kilar made vague comments during an investor’s conference. In his words,
There’s this little thing called Harry Potter, which is one of the most beloved franchises. And we’re incredibly thankful to be able to partner with J.K. Rowling and so I would argue there’s lot of fun and potential there as well.

Differences From The Book
Columbus repeatedly checked with Rowling to make sure he was getting minor details correct. Kloves described the film as being “really faithful” to the book. He added dialogue, of which Rowling approved. One of the lines originally included had to be removed after Rowling told him that it would directly contradict an event in the then-unreleased fifth Harry Potter novel Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
The book’s timeline is not enforced in the film. In the book, Harry’s eleventh birthday is in 1991. On the film set for 4 Privet Drive, Dudley’s certificates from primary school bear the year 2001.
Harry Potter Reunion Release Date
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts streams on HBO Max on January 1, 2022. While the press release claims that it will come out as “the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Day,” that’s easier said than done, what with time zones and all. While you wait for the special, you can watch all of the Harry Potter movies in order on both HBO Max and Peacock.
We’d bet the special will arrive at 3 a.m. ET, if history repeats itself. That’s when most non-HBO content arrives on HBO Max, such as the Friends reunion. That same day, the Harry Potter trivia show Hogwarts Tournament of Houses will debut on HBO Max.
HBO Max is available on all of the best streaming devices. Don’t have HBO Max? Well, this special will also stream in spring 2022 on TBS and Cartoon Network.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Continues To Spread Its Magic Around The World And Will Be Opening In New Places
This year is set to be another exciting one for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as the play prepares to open more productions around the world. In fact, previews of the show have just started up again in San Francisco at the Curran Theater!
The play will also be making waves in Asia for the first time, as the stage-play prepares to open in Tokyo, Japan! Were so excited to meet a whole new cast for this production and introduce a whole new country to the magic of the eighth story. And thats not all – in May, a new production will also premiere at the Ed Mirvish theatre in Toronto.
The play continues in the original two-part format in London and Hamburg. The reimagined production premiered in New York last November and is currently running in San Francisco, with Melbourne adopting this version from May 2022.
