The Quill Of Acceptance

According to Pottermore, the Quill of Acceptance is a magical object which detects the birth of a child with magical capabilities. It is located in Hogwarts School, where it records the children’s names in a large book. Professor McGonagall consults the book and sends out the subsequent Hogwarts acceptance letters by owl once the child turns eleven. It has been made very popular due to its use in registering users for the closed beta of Pottermore.

    Core: Unicorn Tail Hair

Hair obtained from a Unicorn’s tail is packed to the brim with magical energy, explaining why it costs an arm and a leg for a single unit. This core is purported to be “clean”, in the sense that wands containing it are usually dependable, not to mention the challenges faced by anyone trying to use it for evil.

As a popular option in wandmaking, Unicorn tail hair wands have been employed by Ron Weasley, Remus Lupin, Cedric Diggory, Neville Longbottom, Sybill Trelawney, and Draco Malfoy.

When Did Harry Potter Get His Wand

Shortly after his 11th birthday and his first time learning he was, in fact, a wizard, Harry visited Diagon Alley with Hagrid to buy his school supplies. During this first trip to Diagon Alley, Harry visited Ollivanderâs Wand Shop to purchase his first wand.

It was something heâd been looking forward to since finding out he was a wizard and seemed quite taken aback by the shop owner Garrick Ollivander himself, and the process of his wand fitting. The details of his fitting included a measuring tape that could act on its own while taking Harryâs measurements, and testing out several different wands that didnât work.

After several failed attempts, Ollivander referred to harry as a âtricky customerâ and decided to try something he seemed to consider rather unorthodox. He gave Harry a wand that he alluded to being somewhat ominous as he offered it to Harry to try. Ollivanderâs intrigue grew as he realized the wand did indeed fit Harry.

Harry paid a total of seven gold galleons for his wand, and Ollivander confirmed that he felt that they would be seeing great things from Harry in the future. Ollivander seemed to base this opinion on the magic the wandâs âbrotherâ had done, which he acknowledged was âterrible, but great.â

How Did Harry End Up Owning The Elder Wand

The rightful owner of The Elder Wand was actually Draco Malfoy because he had disarmed Dumbledore prior to Dumbledoreâs death. In disarming Dumbledore, Draco won the allegiance of The Elder Wand, although no one realized this at the time.

As Voldemort tried to use The Elder Wand during The Battle Of Hogwarts he did not have as much luck as he expected. He mistakenly assumed it was because Snape was the rightful owner, and killed Snape to try and gain the wandâs allegiance.

This was ineffective because Draco was the rightful owner , and Harry had defeated Draco, The Elder Wand rightfully belonged to Harry Potter. This is how Harry Potter wound up owning The Elder Wand. Had he not overpowered Draco prior to The Battle Of Hogwarts, Draco wouldâve remained the rightful owner of The Elder Wand.

The Wands Of Each Harry Potter Character

Which Harry Potter Wand Would You Have?

How much do you know about the wands of Harry Potter characters, from Dumbledore and the Elder Wand to the Twin Cores of Harry and Voldemort’s?

Wands are everything in J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world. From illuminating a room to eliminating an adversary, witches and wizards are nothing without their wands. In Harry Potter, each wand fashioned by esteemed wand makers feature a type of wood the wand is to be made from, and the most important piece of the wand – the core, which is something specifically chosen from a magical creature, and inserted into the wood. Each wand possesses a specific build and power, making each one unique, and perfect for their chosen “master.”

“The wand chooses the wizard. That much has always been clear to those of us who have studied wandlore…”

What Does The Interactive Wand Do At Universal

All Harry Potter interactive wands allow wizards to cast spells all throughout both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. With a gentle flick and little spell, the interactive wands will create a unique, magical experience throughout the lands. Be on the lookout for the brass medallions that are embedded in the ground, that will indicate where you can use your interactive wands. Each interactive wand comes in an Ollivanders box with a dual-sided wand map of spell locations.

What Wand Do You Get At Universal Studios

As mentioned before, at Universal Studios, you may choose between two types of wands: the interactive wand, and the non-interactive one. If you are at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you might want to invest in an interactive wand because thats how all the magic happens.

That being said, even the non-interactive wands are quite cool for the visual and imaginative effect. Plus, some of the wands owned by book or movie characters cant be purchased in interactive form such as the wands from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This means that non-interactive options are a great alternative. They are also great if you are a collector or if you really want to have your own wand.

Sadly enough, you cannot buy a custom wand at Ollivanders. For example, if you want to have your Pottermore wand created, there is no option for you . However, this is not a deal-breaker, as you have thousands of ready-made wands to choose from. You have non-character wands as well, made from holly, birch, reed, willow, vine, ash, hazel, rowan, ivy, alder, and hawthorn all of which feature a different core. Plus, all of these wands are interactive, so you can have a lot of fun with them.

Do Harry Potter Wands Have Batteries

Interactive wands dont have batteries, but instead, they have a reflective IR tip that sends a beam to the spell location. This is why you wont have to change any batteries for the wand so, even if you return in a year or two, it should still work just fine. The condition is to make sure that you maintain it properly.

Since they do not use batter, but rather the IR system that connects with the magical points at Universal Studios, these wands wont do anything special for you outside the park.

However, they will prove to be a great souvenir and you may always use them each time you return. You wont have any batteries to worry about so, as long as you dont damage the tip, it should work.

What Can You Do With A Wand At Universal Studios

If you have a wand at Universal Studios, you will be able to let your inner wizard run loose but whether you will actually be able to do something or not will depend on the type of wand that you get.

Will you get an interactive or non-interactive wand? With an interactive wand at Universal Studios, you may go to certain anointed points in the park, performing the spells that you always wished to try out. You can see those spots marked over the map that comes with the wand.

You may also get a simple wand, without interactive elements but wheres the fun in that? The advice here would be to buy the interactive kind. The non-interactive type is simply for aesthetic purposes. Youll definitely feel like a wizard as you are strolling through Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, or wherever your path takes you.

Can You Bring Wands Into Universal Studios

Yes, you may bring wands into Universal Studios nothing is stopping you from doing this. Still, if its an interactive one, it has to be a Universal Studios-approved wand otherwise, it may not be compatible with the magic points.

The Ollivanders experience is pretty much half the charm, so you may want to consider waiting until you get there. That being said, if you bought it from Ollivanders and already got the experience, you may bring it with no problems the next time you go to Universal Studios.

What Is Harry Potters Wand Made Of

Harryâs wand was 11 inches long and made of holly with a phoenix feather core. Ollivander describes the wand as being ânice and suppleâ in regards to its flexibility. He also stated the combination of holly and phoenix feather was an unusual combination to see.

The unusual combination Ollivander is referring to is based on wandlore which most wandmakers in the wizarding world take very seriously. Holly wands tend to be considered a protective wand in nature and often choose wizards who are engaged in dangerous quests, especially if they are somewhat spiritual.

Because of the volatility of holly itself in wand making, lore suggests it is especially hard to pair with phoenix feather cores. According to the seriesâ own author, JK Rowling, if holly and a phoenix feather are able to be combined successfully nothing and no one should be able to stand in that wizardâs way.

Itâs no wonder that even without considering the history of the brother to Harryâs wand, Ollivander would be extremely interested in what Harry was going out into the world to accomplish solely based on the wandâs materials and extreme rarity in the wizarding world.

    Arthur Weasley’s Flying Ford Anglia

Hermione Granger magic Wand Harry Potter

Arthur Weasley owned a 1960 Ford Anglia 105E that he subsequently enchanted consequently, the vehicle can fly, become invisible, and carry the entire Weasley family in spite of its formerly non-enchanted interior dimensions , among other abilities. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the car is borrowed by Fred, George and Ron, who use it to rescue Harry from the Dursleys’ house. Ron and Harry later steal the car in order to return to Hogwarts after the gate to Platform 9¾ is sealed by Dobby. After they arrive at school, landing in the Whomping Willow, the car ejects Harry, Ron, and their luggage, then flees into the Forbidden Forest, ignoring Ron’s pleas for it to come back. Mr Weasley soon faces an inquiry at the Ministry of Magic, as seven Muggles saw the car flying across areas of Central London and the British countryside, and is forced to pay a large fine.

The 1962 Ford Anglia used in the film was acquired by Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, and is currently displayed in the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. A total of 14 Ford Anglias were destroyed during the filming of the scene where the car crashes into the Whomping Willow.

A replica of the car in its feral state can be seen in the queue line for the Dragon Challenge roller coaster at the Universal Studios Islands of Adventure theme park. Occasionally it blinks its headlights and honks its horn when its motion detectors sense that guests are standing in front of it or walking by it.
