The next room, Professor Flitwicks, holds a bunch of flying keys and some broomsticks. Harry finds a silver one with a broken wing that is different from the others and catches it, unlocking the next door with it. The next room is Professor McGonagalls, and has a large chessboard, for a game of Wizards Chess that Ron helps them win, at the cost of having to sacrifice himself and getting knocked out. Harry and Hermione continue to the next room, Professor Quirrells, where they find an unconscious troll laying on the floor. Lastly, they enter Professor Snapes room and find seven potions in bottles along with a roll of paper giving clues on which one to drink to continue, noting that three bottles have poison, two have nettle wine, one will send the drinker back, and the other will let the drinker move forward into the next room. Hermione tells Harry that it is a test of logic and not magic wherein most wizards fail. She solves the puzzle, and at Harrys instruction, drinks the one that will allow her to head back through the purple flame, while Harry drinks the one to head into the black flame and into the final room, where he is surprised at whom he sees.

Verne Troyer As Griphook
The casting of the Harry Potter films was limited to British thespiansa rule so strict it even forced producers to turn down Robin Williams for the role of Hagridbut Verne Troyer became the rare exception when he was cast as the Gringotts banker Griphook in Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. Troyer was the only American actor with a major role in the film, but the character was voiced by his English co-star Warwick Davis, who also portrayed Professor Flitwick and another bank teller in the film.
By the time Griphook became more significant to the story in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Davis took over the role completely. Davis later explained his decision to seek out the role. Griphook has so much more depth to him than Id ever been able to get into my work as Professor Flitwick. So, I went in and read for David Yates and the casting director, and gave them a best shot, David left a message that Id got the part.

The first Harry Potter sequel film follows on pretty simply it starts at the end of Summer in 1992, going through a full school year at Hogwarts leading into the start of Summer 93.

By the time Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 rolled around, youd think the cast and crew of the Potter franchise wouldve known what every little thing in its magical universe was called. And yet numerous characters in the movie with the exception of Harry Potter cant seem to remember the affectionate nickname for the sprawling, teetering Weasley countryside residence. Its properly called the Burrow, which is what Harry says, but hes the only character among the lot who doesnt call it the Burrows.
Why Does The Basilisk Take Ginny
Why did Ginny get taken into the chamber of secrets if shes a pure-blood? Tom Riddle took Ginny in order to lure Harry into the Chamber so that he could kill him. As mentioned above, Johnny Depp will not be reprising his role as Grindelwald after he was asked to resign from the role by Warner Bros. Depp had shot one scene as Grindelwald for the third movie, but we dont know if this will end up in the movie or not.
The role of Grindelwald will now be played by Doctor Strange and Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen. Its not yet clear how the recast will be handled in the movie, but given the world of Harry Potter, it could easily be put down to a potion, accident or magical disguise.
Mikkelsen revealed that he didnt talk to Depp about the role and he took it on because his daughter is a fan of the Harry Potter franchise. Dont go expecting a Depp impression from Mikkelsen though.

Differences From The Book
Columbus repeatedly checked with Rowling to make sure he was getting minor details correct. Kloves described the film as being really faithful to the book. He added dialogue, of which Rowling approved. One of the lines originally included had to be removed after Rowling told him that it would directly contradict an event in the then-unreleased fifth Harry Potter novel Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
The books timeline is not enforced in the film. In the book, Harrys eleventh birthday is in 1991. On the film set for 4 Privet Drive, Dudleys certificates from primary school bear the year 2001.

Costume And Set Design
Cuarón wanted to establish a more mature tone in the characters costumes and the sets. He explained, What I really wanted to do was to make Hogwarts more contemporary and a little more naturalistic. He studied English schools and noted, Each teenagers individuality was reflected in the way they wore their uniform. So I asked all the kids in the film to wear their uniforms as they would if their parents werent around. Columbus considered the costumes changes as a reflection of the character development within the books themselves and their transition to teenagers. Whereas in the first two films the characters are constantly in their uniforms, in Prisoner of Azkaban the characters often wear modern street clothes. Rowling, who had to be consulted on this change, stated, for me the cloaks and everything makes sense for the academic time but in personal time they would be wearing their own clothes. joined the film as costume designer, also working on all of the following instalments in the series.
Some sets were either reused from earlier films or used for more than one space. The Defence Against the Dark Arts and Divination classrooms were filmed in the same set. The Honeydukes set was a redress of the set of Flourish & Blotts that was seen in Chamber of Secrets, which, in turn, had been redressed from the Ollivanders set from the first film.
Special And Visual Effects
Visual effects took nine months to make, until 9 October 2002, when the film was finished.Industrial Light & Magic, Mill Film, The Moving Picture Company , Cinesite and Framestore CFC handled the approximately 950 visual effect shots in the film. Jim Mitchell and Nick Davis served as visual effects supervisors. They were in charge of creating the CG characters Dobby the House Elf, the Basilisk, and the Cornish pixies, among others. Chas Jarrett from MPC served as CG supervisor, overseeing the approach of any shot that contains CG in the film. With a crew of 70 people, the company produced 251 shots, 244 of which made it to the film, from September 2001 to October 2002.
The visual effects team worked alongside creature effects supervisor Nick Dudman, who devised Fawkes the Phoenix, the Mandrakes, Aragog the Acromantula, and the first 25 feet of the Basilisk. According to Dudman, Aragog represented a significant challenge to the Creature department. The giant spider stood 9 feet tall with an 18 feet foot leg span, each of which had to be controlled by a different team member. The whole creature weighed three quarters of a ton. It took over 15 people to operate the animatronic Aragog on set.

Newsweek magazine asked Alfonso Cuarón, director of the third film based on Rowling’s Prisoner of Azkaban if the villainous wizard Voldemort still reminded him of George W. Bush. Cuarón confirmed, “In combination with Saddam. They both have selfish interests and are very much in love with power. Also, a disregard for the environment. A love for manipulating people. I read books four and five, and Fudge is similar to Tony Blair. He’s the ultimate politician. He’s in denial about many things. And everything is for the sake of his own persona, his own power. The way the Iraq thing was handled was not unlike the way Fudge handled affairs in book four.”
Slate Magazine also says Rowling takes jabs at the Bush and Blair administrations suggesting the Ministry of Magic’s security pamphlet recalls the much-scorned Operation TIPS . The author also suggests that Azkaban, the wizard penitentiary, is a stand-in for Guantanamo Bay.
