How To Watch Harry Potter Movies In Order
Everyone came into the Wizarding World through the Harry Potter books and movies, which introduced us to a gifted 11-year-old, his friends Ron and Hermione, and their hallowed school of magic, Hogwarts. Watching the Harry Potter movies in order, seeing the story unfold chronologically in-universe, used to be as easy as finding the one where Daniel Radcliffe looks youngest and starting from there.
But the series has expanded now with the Fantastic Beasts movies, set some 70 years before The Sorcerers Stone. So to watch the Harry Potter movies in order, your journey now begins with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set in 1926 and starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scarmander. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set in 1927. The third Fantastic Beasts intends to release July 2022, with two more movies to close out the Scarmander and Grindelwald saga.
Then the story of Harry himself begins, starting with Sorcerers Stone and concluding in the second-part of The Deathly Hallows, for eight Certified Fresh movies in a row. Scholastic Corporation bought the U.S. rights at the Bologna Book Fair in April 1997 for US$105,000, an unusually high sum for a children’s book. Scholastic’s Arthur Levine thought that “philosopher” sounded too archaic for readers and after some discussion , the American edition was published in September 1998 under the title Rowling suggested, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Since the UK editions of early titles in the series were published months prior to the American versions, some American readers became familiar with the British English versions owing to having bought them from online retailers.

In 2000, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Novel, and in 2001, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire won said award. Its Thanksgiving long weekend, which means many studios are closed and are not reporting official numbers. However, one of the studios that is reporting numbers is Disney and they are reporting record-breaking numbers. Ralph Breaks the Internet earned $18.5 million on Wednesday, which is significantly more than either Coco or Moana managed the previous two years. In fact, this is more than Frozen managed during its record-breaking wide expansion back in 2013. This films reviews are great and it earned an A minus from CinemaScore, so it should have good legs and could top Frozens $93.59 million five-day opening. In fact, some studios think it has a real chance of $100 million during its five-day opening. Jk Rowling Or The Lack Thereof
When WarnerMedia first announced details of the special, one name was conspicuously absent from the cast list: J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books. At the time, both Rowling and Warner Bros. declined The Washington Posts request for comment. As it turns out, she is in the special albeit for about a minute in a couple of exceedingly brief and insubstantial clips gleaned from archival footage.
While her lack of participation in the special remains unexplained, its not difficult to guess whats going on here. Rowling has come under fire in recent years for her statements regarding the trans community. If sex isnt real, theres no same-sex attraction. If sex isnt real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isnt hate to speak the truth, she tweeted in June 2020, earning her the moniker TERF and losing support from many of her fans.
As shes continued making similar comments, many spinoff properties of the Potter universe have distanced themselves from her. Both U.S. Quidditch and Major League Quidditch announced they will be changing their names, and youd practically need an electron microscope to see her name in the trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the newest movie in the spinoff series.

Harry Potter Director Confirms Initial Cut Of Debut Film Was Nearly 3 Hours Long
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the first film in the massive Harry Potter movie franchise, is by no means a short movie. The fourth longest of all eight of the films, the story clocks in at a beefy 152 minutes — over two and a half hours. It’s a substantial length for a film based off of a children’s novel, but it turns out that the original, first cut of the film was even longer coming in at 172 minutes — nearly three hours.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone director Chris Columbus recently told Collider that even at nearly three hours, the film was a hit with kids and it was the parents who screened that version who thought it was just too long.
“By the time we finished the film and we screened it in Chicago — it’s good luck for us to screen our films in Chicago, so back in the day when we could go to a movie theater we would fly to Chicago and show films to an audience — the audience loved it. The audience just ate up the film,” Columbus said. “The film was two hours and fifty minutes long at that point and the kids thought it was too short and the parents thought it was too long.”
As for what happened to the additional minutes that didn’t make it to the theatrical cut, an extended version was released on Blu-ray adding an extra seven minutes to the runtime, but the rest of the deleted material is available in special features on the Blu-ray and DVD releases of the film.

This is the start of the Harry Potter story where you meet Harry for the first time as he heads to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, set in 1991 – but the film was released in 2001. You meet many of the main characters at Hogwarts, including the introduction of Lord Voldemort, Harry’s arch nemesis, with the action revolving around the Philosopher’s Stone. Friday Estimates: Fantastic Dominates Charts But With Just $297 Million
As expected, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them easily earned first place on Friday. However, it only managed $29.7 million, which was well below expectations. This is the worst opening day in the Harry Potter franchise since The Chamber of Secrets. The reviews are weaker than the franchise as a whole, but its CinemaScore is an A and thats roughly average for the previous 8 Harry Potter films. The film should still earn between $70 million and $75 million over the weekend, depending on if the high CinemaScore can overcome the Fanboy Effect. There are three wide releases, but only two of them have any chance of becoming more than a midlevel hit. Free Birds is a digitally animated family film that has a very timely release, but it is also a second-tier CG animated film. Enders Game is a $110 million film based on a book aimed at young adults. It is yet another film trying to tap into the vacuum left behind by Harry Potter. I dont think either of them will be big hits, but one of them has to be the target film. I think Free Birds will have better legs, but that Enders Game will have a better opening. As such, it is the target film for this weeks box office prediction contest. In order to win, one must simply predict the opening weekend box office number for Enders Game. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the films opening 3-day weekend box office , regardless if they go over or not, will win a copy of The Conjuring on Blu-ray Combo Pack.
