He Used His Powers On Other Children In The Orphanage

The Story of Lord Voldemort Tom Riddle Origins Explained (Chronologic Timeline)

Like Harry, Voldemort didnt grow up with his parents around him. Instead, he grew up in an orphanage, and as he got more comfortable with his magical powers, he would use them on the other orphans. On one occasion, he literally silenced two other orphans after luring them into a cave and showing them something unspeakably scary with his powers.

How Does Tom Riddle Turn Into Voldemort

The Dark Lords real name was Tom Riddle. He wasnt always the horrendous looking guy. J. K. Rowling has stated in the second and the sixth book that Tom Riddle was a tall and a handsome looking fellow with pale skin. He also had dark brown eyes and jet black hair.

Earlier in life, the handsome looking Tom Riddle used to spend most of his time experimenting with dark magic. His primary aim was immortality. In search of immortality, poor Riddle splits his spirit into eight fragments and intentionally created seven Horcruxes. As the Riddle uncovered the deepest and darkest secrets of magic, he became powerful and evil. So, he abandoned his Muggle name and became the king of dark magic, Lord Voldemort. Lord Voldemort was an anagram of the Riddles birth name.

Outlawing Love Potions So He Was Never Born

Before Voldemort was even born, his mother, Merope Gaunt, married Tom Riddle Sr. after giving him a love potion, at least according to Dumbledore. Love potions are really gross when you think about them, and while they were outlawed at Hogwarts, they dont seem to be illegal in wizarding society.

While this likely wouldnt have stopped Merope since she was determined to make Riddle love her if love potions were illegal, it made have made it more difficult for her to conceive Voldemort in the first place.

Fourth Through Sixth Books

Voldemort does not appear in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, although his presence and actions are felt: he once again declares war, and begins to rise to power once more. He murders Amelia Bones of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and begins to target members of the Order of the Phoenix, including Emmeline Vance.

Rowling uses several chapters as exposition to establish Voldemort’s backstory. In a series of flashbacks, using the pensieve as a plot device, she reveals that Voldemort is the son of the witch Merope Gaunt and a Muggle also called Tom Riddle. Riddle abandons Merope before their child’s birth, soon after which Merope dies, just hours after giving birth. After living in an orphanage, young Tom meets Albus Dumbledore, who tells him he is a wizard and arranges for him to attend Hogwarts. Riddle is outwardly a model student, but is in reality a sociopath who takes sadistic pleasure in using his powers to harm and control people. He eventually murders his father and grandparents as revenge for abandoning him. The book also discusses Riddle’s hatred of “Muggles” , his obsession with Horcruxes, and his desire to split his soul to achieve immortality. Rowling stated Voldemort’s conception under the influence of a love potion symbolises the prejudicial circumstances under which he was brought into the world.

Battle For The Prophecy

Happy birthday Lord Voldemort! Born 31st of december 1926 ...
Harry Potter: “You’re the weak one… and you’ll never know love, or friendship… and I feel sorry for you…
Voldemort: “You’re a fool, Harry Potter, and you will lose… everything…
Harry Potter and Tom Riddle debate the meaning of weakness

In 1995, Dumbledore reconvened the Order of the Phoenix once more, using Sirius Black‘s family home at 12 Grimmauld Place as headquarters. Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley set up a similar organisation at Hogwarts called Dumbledore’s Army, which was originally created to thwart the Ministry’s meddling at the school under Dolores Umbridge.

Voldemort was now after the aforementioned prophecy housed in the Department of Mysteries, wanting to hear the whole of it. At this time, many of Voldemort’s most loyal Death Eaters, such as Bellatrix Lestrange, escaped from Azkaban and returned to his side.

Members of Dumbledore’s Army, including Harry, Hermione, Ron, Luna Lovegood, Ginny, and Neville Longbottom went to the Department of Mysteries seeking to rescue Sirius Black, who they believed to be trapped there. Harry wound up retrieving the prophecy from its shelf. At once, Death Eaters appeared, demanding Harry hand over the prophecy. The six D.A. members fought back, and during the battle that ensued, the prophecy was destroyed. Voldemort was forced to come to the Ministry, but upon learning of its destruction he tried to kill Harry.

The New Year Is On The Horizon For Us Muggles But What Was New Year And Resolutions Like Fro Harry Potter And The Rest Of The Wizarding World

New Years Eve and Day feature in the Wizarding World. This is not necessarily always a positive time though, as Lord Voldemort himself was born on New Years Eve and was most certainly not a reforming character!

Nonetheless, one would wonder what New Years Resolutions Wizards could have? In our world, people might make resolutions about travelling more, or doing more hobbies. In the Wizard world, resolutions could be to jinx less Muggles, or get better at potions, or something. There also might be a group resolution such as to win the House Cup. Especially by Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students who seem to be shut out somewhat in the bitter Gryffindor-Slytherin struggle.

Yet, there was a third character Dumbledore who changed significantly within each year. Whereas in the early books and films he is welcoming and protective, during the mid-series particularly in the 4th and 5th books and films, he deliberately makes a resolution to be somewhat distant from Harry, Ron and Hermione. This is because of Dumbledores desire to protect Harry by keeping certain things from him. However, he wisely reverses this strategy in the 6th year ensuring that Harry is fully versed in all he needs to know before Dumbledore meets his own date with destiny in the Astronomy Tower on the 30th June 1997.

Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Who Was Born As Tom Riddle

Lord Voldemort is a fictional character and the main antagonist in J. K. Rowling’s series of Harry Potter novels. Voldemort first appeared in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which was released in 1997. Voldemort appears either in person or in flashbacks in each book and its film adaptation in the series, except the third, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where he is only mentioned.

Voldemort is the archenemy of Harry Potter, who according to a prophecy has “the power to vanquish the Dark Lord”. Nearly every witch or wizard dares not utter his unmentionable name, and refers to him instead with such expressions as “You-Know-Who”, “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named” or “the Dark Lord”. Voldemort’s obsession with blood purity signifies his aim to rid the wizarding world of Muggle heritage and to conquer both worlds, Muggle and wizarding, to achieve pure-blood dominance. Through his mother’s family, he is the last descendant of wizard Salazar Slytherin, one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is the leader of the Death Eaters, a group of evil wizards and witches dedicated to ridding the Wizarding World of Muggles and establishing Voldemort as its supreme ruler.

Rise Of The Dark Lord

Tom Riddle renamed himself to Lord Voldemort and was responsible for the murder of many. After leaving Hogwarts, he gathered followers in the name of killing Muggles and half-blood Wizards, blatantly ignoring who he was. He battled the Order of the Phoenix in the First Wizarding War and disappeared once he was stopped when he attempted to murder Harry Potter. Harry’s mother’s love for him somehow stopped the Dark Lord from murdering him, as he was incapable of the emotion.

In 1995, Lord Voldemort returned during the Tri-Wizard Tournament. Death Eater Barty Crouch Jr. used the Tri-Wizard cup the champions had to find as a portkey to Little Hangleton where Peter Pettigrew, a follower of the Dark Lord used Dark Magic to bring power back to the Dark Lord. Lord Voldemort failed once again to murder Harry Potter. Raven Potter, Harry’s sister assisted in preventing her brother’s death by running into the maze the task was held in.

Woman In Gregorovitchs House

What if lord VOLDEMORT turned into a baby/child?!!

Gregorovitch is a wandmaker, Europes equivalent to Ollivander. And he makes a brief appearance in the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 blockbuster, dying via Voldemorts hand after revealing the Elder Wand had been stolen from him many years previously.

What the movie doesnt show, though, is Tom Riddle also killing a woman who is with the wandmaker. We expect Warner Bros wanted to keep the death toll as low as possible

If He Had Died As A Child

This might be the darkest option on this list considering it involves a child, and even though he is set up as an evil child, he was still a child.

However, if he would have died somehow as a child, he wouldnt have grown up to be the evil murderer that he was as Lord Voldemort. Alternately, if some sort of intervention had happened to him as a child, maybe he would have turned out differently. However, as Dumbledore pointed out, its all about choices, not circumstances.

His Boggart Is His Own Corpse

For someone so obsessed with his own immortality, its hardly a shock that Voldemort is confronted with his own dead body when he sees a boggart. This is information revealed by Rowling long after the LEGO video games had already misrepresented Voldemorts boggart as Harry Potter himself. When hit by the Riddikulus charm, which is meant to transform your worst nightmare into something fun, boggart Harry would simply drop dead .

Voldemort is also unable to produce a Patronus. As noted by Lupin when Harry attempts to defeat his own boggart in Prisoner of Azkaban, a Patronus is a positive force. Snape, presumably due to his memories of Lily, is the only Death Eater capable of producing a Patronus. They would not need Patronuses, said Rowling. A Patronus is used against things that the Death Eaters generally generate, or fight alongside.

How Old Was Lord Voldemort When He Died?
“I have my reasons for using the boy, as I have already explained to you, and I will use no other. I have waited thirteen years. A few more months will make no difference. As for the protection surrounding the boy, I believe my plan will be effective. All that is needed is a little courage from you, Wormtail — courage you will find, unless you wish to feel the full extent of Lord Voldemort’s wrath —

Knowing that Dumbledore was sure to have seen to it that the Philosopher’s Stone was destroyed, Voldemort knew he would not be able to use the Elixir of Life to create a new body for himself. Voldemort decided to attempt an old piece of ritualistic Dark Magic to create a potion that would restore him to a body. He made plans to travel to England in order to obtain two of the three key ingredients: a bone from his father and the blood of his most hated enemy, Harry Potter. The third ingredient, the flesh of a servant willingly given, he would obtain from Wormtail himself.

If Dumbledore Had Been Able To Stop Him Earlier On

Dumbledore was one of the only people who was suspicious and wary of Tom Marvolo Riddle from the start. Since he visited him in the orphanage, he was able to see the dark side of him before Riddle learned how to mask who he truly was. Dumbledore didnt trust him, but he didnt know exactly what was going on either. If Dumbledore had followed more of his instincts, he might have been able to stop Voldemort as a teenager before he grew too powerful.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

Voldemort does not appear in the third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, either in person or as a magical manifestation. He is, however, heard when Harry passes out from the harsh effects of a Dementor. Towards the end of the story, Sybill Trelawney, the Divination professor, makes a rare genuine prophecy: “The Dark Lord lies alone and friendless, abandoned by his followers. His servant has been chained these twelve years. Tonight, before midnight, the servant will break free and set out to rejoin his master. The Dark Lord will rise again with his servant’s aid, greater and more terrible than ever before. Tonight… before midnight… the servant… will set out… to rejoin… his master…” Though it is initially implied that the prophecy refers to Sirius Black, the book’s ostensible antagonist, the servant is eventually revealed to be Peter Pettigrew, who, for the 12 years since Voldemort’s fall, has been disguised as Ron’s pet rat, Scabbers.

If Dumbledore Didnt Let Him Into Hogwarts

What If Voldemort Killed Baby Harry In Godric’s Hollow?

Dumbledore went to visit Tom Riddle in the orphanage to tell him hes a wizard and about Hogwarts. Even at this visit, Dumbledore sees that Riddle is a manipulative and calculating child. It seems strange that Hogwarts just allows anyone in and doesnt have any sort of help for students who clearly have mental health issues or issues dabbling in dark magic.

While Dumbledore wasnt the Headmaster at the time of this visit, there must have been a way he could have prevented Tom Riddle from entering Hogwarts.

Why Does Voldemort Have A Nose In The First Movie

In 2001, J. K. Rowlings magical franchise made a cinematic debut in Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. Truth be told, this movie made everyone fall in love with wizards and magic. Hogwarts became a dream school for everyone. Despite being a fantasy school even after 20 years of its initial release, most of us are still waiting for its acceptance letter. In the final moments of the Philosophers Stone, the directors teased the existence of the dark lord by showing that Voldemort was survived by using Professor Quirrell as a host. He-who-must-not-be-named made Professor Quirrell drink unicorn blood to sustain him and to get the Philosophers Stone for him. Guess What, He still had his nose in the movie at the time.

A few movies later, the Dark Lord appeared in the Goblet of fire without a nose. It was shown that He-who-must-not-be-named used his pet snakes venom when he was reborn. Nagini was one of the 7 Horcruxes and he needed her venom to strengthen him because of the piece of his soul resting inside her. Hence, due to Naginis venom, he loses his nose and gains his horrifying snakelike face.
