The Increasingly Dark Tone Of The Series Was Inspired By Rowlings Life Experiences
The Harry Potter series becomes considerably more sophisticated as it progresses, grappling with serious issues like death and bigotry. Rowling has been open about the fact that much of the darkness is autobiographical. She told Oprah Winfrey that, though she did not realize it when she began writing the series, making Harry an orphan, along with his subsequent experiences with death, was her way of dealing with the death of her mother, who died of multiple sclerosis when Rowling was 20: If she hadn’t died, I don’t think it’s too strong to say that there wouldn’t be Harry Potter. The books are what they are because she died.;
The Dementors, among the most frightening creatures in the franchise, were inspired by her struggles with depression during her 20s: It’s so difficult to describe to someone who’s never been there because it’s not sadness. I know sadness. Sadness is to cry and to feel. But it’s that cold absence of feeling that really hollowed-out feeling. That’s what Dementors are.”

Completion Of The Series
In December 2005, Rowling stated on her web site, “2006 will be the year when I write the final book in the Harry Potter series.” Updates then followed in her online diary chronicling the progress of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with the release date of 21 July 2007. The book itself was finished on 11 January 2007 in the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, where she scrawled a message on the back of a bust of Hermes. It read: “J. K. Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room on 11 January 2007.”
Rowling herself has stated that the last chapter of the final book was completed “in something like 1990”. In June 2006, Rowling, on an appearance on the British talk show Richard & Judy, announced that the chapter had been modified as one character “got a reprieve” and two others who previously survived the story had in fact been killed. On 28 March 2007, the cover art for the Bloomsbury Adult and Child versions and the Scholastic version were released.
In September 2012, Rowling mentioned in an interview that she might go back to make a “director’s cut” of two of the existing Harry Potter books.
‘harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire’
“JK’s signature turns any first edition of ‘Goblet of Fire’ into a book with a four-figure price-tag but there are a handful of copies over $10,000. Look out for the limited editions with original watercolor illustrations by Giles Greenfield and Mary GrandPre . If either illustrator has signed a copy, then prices are again in four-figures. Many buyers are also looking for books accompanied by items such as entrance wristbands or golden tickets from events where JK Rowling has conducted a signing.”

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Illustrated Edition
Those of us who already own about five copies of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them found an excuse to buy one more when the fully illustrated edition was released in November 2017. The color illustrations came from artist Olivia Lomenech Gill, and used a variety of artistic techniques to depict the beasts. Nearly a year later in October 2018, fans saw the release of The Tales of Beedle the Bard: The Illustrated Edition which included masterful work by Lisbeth Zwerger who brought J.K. Rowlings collection of short stories to life in great detail.
In addition to a re-release of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, an audiobook edition for the textbook was released the same day the new edition of the book came out. Eddie Redmayne narrates the book. Normally, we wouldve hoped that Jim Dale narrator of the U.S. versions of the Harry Potter books would be back for this, but having the textbook narrated by Newt Scamander himself is far too perfect to complain. Based on Audibles page, the audiobook clocks in at just under two hours.

Petunia comes to his door and wakes him with a shrill voice. Harry is trying to think about the dream he had been having. It was about a flying motorbike, and he thinks he has had the same dream before. Aunt Petunia tells him to make some bacon, as she wants everything perfect for Dudley’s 11th birthday. Harry dresses into a pair of Dudley’s old clothes and goes into the kitchen, where the table is covered in Dudley’s presents.
