Severus Snapes Tragic Fate Brings Tears To The Eyes Of His Fans

Harry Potter is Dead | Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Easily the most controversial figure in Harry Potter, Severus Snape’s existence is plagued by tragedy. His abuse at the hands of his Muggle father and subsequent sorting into House Slytherin lead him to join the Death Eaters. He tells Voldemort about Sybill Trelawneys prophecy, unaware that he is dooming his childhood friend in the process. After Lilys death, Severus swears he will protect her son.

When Voldemort returns, Snape acts as a double agent for the Order of the Phoenix, first as the dour Potions teacher of Hogwarts then in his capacity as the school’s new headmaster. He even kills Dumbledore on Albus’ own request. Interestingly enough, Voldemort never realizes Severus is a traitor. He kills Severus out of the belief that he is the master of the elder wand. With his last breath, Severus gives Harry his memories, showing him the truth about his connection with Voldemort. Snap is truly a tragic figure. Despite his flaws, his death still brings tears to the eyes of fans.

Dobby Died A Free & Brave Elf

Dobby debuted in Chamber of Secrets when he defied his masters to warn Harry about Voldemort’s plans. After being accidentally freed by Lucius Malfoy, he found work in the Hogwarts kitchens, receiving a monthly payment that made him a pariah amongst other House-elves.

When Harry and his friends found themselves trapped in Malfoy Manor, Dobby came to their rescue, managing to Disapparate them back to safety. Before escaping the Manor himself, however, Dobby was fatally injured by a raging Bellatrix Lestrange, who had thrown a silver knife at him as he was Disapparating. Harry mourned him and buried him on his own, carving a simple headstone that proclaimed Dobby as a free elf.

When Harry Potter Dies And Meets Albus Dumbledore

It was halfway through the battle of Hogwarts that Lord Voldemorts endeavor to kill Harry Potter was finally successful. The sacrifice and lives of many people close to Harry persuaded him to accept Voldemorts offer to surrender himself in exchange for the safety of his colleagues and friends.

Subsequently, he decided to walk towards the Forbidden Forest, only to find You-Know-Who waiting alongside his followers.

With yielding as the only reasonable thing to do, Harry simply gave himself up without standing up against Voldemort. Soon after, he was struck with the Killing Curse, fell to the ground, and lost his life. He later found himself at a strange place known as the Limbo, where he met his mentor, Albus Dumbledore.

Dumbledores spirit explained the true intentions behind all his actions before his death and apologized for his behavior. Further, he revealed that Harry wasnt actually dead, and could choose to either stay in the Limbo or make his way back to the real world. It was obvious for Harry to be baffled hearing the news, and thats when Dumbledore explained why Harry was still alive.

Lord Voldemort had used Harrys blood for his resurrection, which was shown back in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Since then, the two were innately bound. Their connection, in turn, was what protected Harry from Voldemorts curse. Furthermore, after the tragedy that took Harrys parents lives, the young boy unknowingly became a Horcrux!

Study And Perception Of Death

Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and above all, those who live without love.
Albus Dumbledore on death

The Veil in the Death Chamber of the Department of Mysteries

There was a chamber in the Department of Mysteries where witches and wizards studied the mysteries of death. In this chamber was the Veil, an ancient stone archway, which was a gateway between the world of the living and the world of the dead. People standing around the Veil might hear voices from the other side depending on their level of faith in an afterlife. A person whose body passed through the Veil would die.

Wizarding philosopher Bertrand de Pensées-Profondes also researched death. He wrote a highly-regarded work on the subject, A Study into the Possibility of Reversing the Actual and Metaphysical Effects of Natural Death, with Particular Regard to the Reintegration of Essence and Matter.

Although many feared death due to the unknown that lied beyond life, few would ever choose to manipulate and damage their own souls to remain behind in a pitiful existence. Horcruxes and remaining as ghosts were two known methods of immortalising one’s existence in the plane of living, but the former had dire consequences that few would ever want it, while the latter meant entrapment for eternity that only those who feared or had deep bonds would choose it.
