- A scene is added showing Death Eaters stopping and searching the Hogwarts Express. Their intentions are left ambiguous until explained by Xenophilius Lovegood much later in the film.
- Cho Chang, Katie Bell, and Cormac McLaggen are all seen on the Hogwarts Express, even though they should have graduated the previous year. However, a possible explanation to all this is that Katie was to return to make up for all the time she spent in St Mungo’s and McLaggen failing all his studies due to thinking up Quidditch plans or had to repeat a previous year. Another explanation would be that they had left the school due to Dumbledore’s death prior to taking their N.E.W.T.S. With regards to Katie, she is implied to be in Harry’s year in the films anyway seeing as she is shown to be in his Potions class in the sixth film.
- The events of the new school year at Hogwarts, including the re-forming of Dumbledore’s Army and Snape’s position as Headmaster have been largely omitted, except for an announcement about the latter, and a scene where Harry observes Snape with the and finds him in the Headmaster’s office.
- Lupin is not present at Grimmauld Place, and the large argument between him and Harry about the former’s son is omitted.

The Filmmakers Wanted Harry To Fight Snape Instead Of Mcgonagall
In the books, Minerva McGonagall takes on her former colleague in a Hogwarts corridor alongside Professors Sprout and Flitwick, while Harry and Luna Lovegood hide under the invisibility cloak.
The filmmakers wanted to change this so that Harry is the one who fights Snape, but couldn’t clear it with Rowling. Rowling saw this moment as a defining one for McGonagall and so insisted that the filmmakers stick with McGonagall versus Snape, even if the locations and scene were changed.

R.A.B. Regulus Blacks note left in the locket for Voldemort. This locket was an heirloom of the Black family. With the help of his House-elf Kreacher, Regulus swapped it for Salazar Slytherins Locket, which was hidden in the seaside cave, in an attempt to destroy Voldemorts Horcrux and bring down the Dark Lord.

Kate Winslet is an Oscar-winning actress and one of Britain’s best thespians, and was offered the chance to join the “Harry Potter” series in the small but important part of Helena Ravenclaw, daughter of house founder Rowena.
However, according to ScreenRant, Winslet’s agent rejected the offer before the actress even saw it, believing that she wouldn’t want to “follow suit with every other actor in Britain by being a part of ‘Harry Potter.'”
It remains to be seen as to whether Winslet would have wanted to join the franchise or not, but the role eventually went to Kelly Macdonald.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Harry Potter’s third year sees the boy wizard, along with his friends, attending Hogwarts School once again. Professor R. J. Lupin joins the staff as Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, while convicted murderer Sirius Black escapes from Azkaban Prison. The Ministry of Magic entrusts the Dementors of Azkaban to guard Hogwarts from Black. Harry learns more about his past and his connection with the escaped prisoner.
Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
Harry’s fifth year begins with him being attacked by Dementors in Little Whinging. Later, he finds out that the Ministry of Magic is in denial of Lord Voldemort’s return. Harry is also beset by disturbing and realistic nightmares, while Professor Umbridge, a representative of Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge, is the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. Harry becomes aware that Voldemort is after a prophecy which reveals: “neither can live while the other survives.” The rebellion involving the students of Hogwarts, secret organisation Order of the Phoenix, the Ministry of Magic, and the Death Eaters begins.

Inciting Event: Harry and the others go to Bellatrixs vault at Gringotts bank to discover the next horcruxthe Hufflepuff cup. They barely escape with their lives.
This isnt, as such, a particularly great Inciting Event. It serves more as a reminder of the main conflict than an initiating of itwhich makes sense, as this is actually the second part of the complete episode begun in Pt. 1.
First Plot Point: Harry and the others return to Hogwarts. Even though this isnt the First Plot Point in the book, it makes a really nice First Plot Point for this final episode in the moviesa final return to the adventure world of Hogwarts .
First Pinch Point: After Harry and the others kick out Snape and take back Hogwarts, they prepare for battleand Voldemort brings it to them.
Midpoint: Harry finds the sixth horcruxLady Raveclaws diademdestroys it, learns the final horcrux is Voldemorts snake, and that Voldemort is waiting for him in the boathouse.
Second Pinch Point: After Snape dies, Harry sees Snapes memories and learns the truth: Snape didnt murder Dumbledore and, in fact, has been protecting Harry all along. Harry himself is a horcrux and must die if Voldemort is to be rendered mortal.
In most stories, this would be more than enough for a Third Plot Point. But between the threat of death and death itself, the latter is always the better choice for the Third Plot Point, as it is here.

Harry Potter And The Half
In Harry’s sixth year at Hogwarts, Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters are increasing their terror upon the Wizarding and Muggle worlds. Headmaster Albus Dumbledore persuades his old friend Horace Slughorn to return to Hogwarts as a professor as there is a vacancy to fill. There is a more important reason, however, for Slughorn’s return. While in a Potions lesson, Harry takes possession of a strangely annotated school textbook, inscribed ‘This is the property of the Half-Blood Prince’. Draco Malfoy struggles to carry out a mission presented to him by Voldemort. Meanwhile, Dumbledore and Harry secretly work together to discover the method on how to destroy the Dark Lord once and for all.
This Is The Only Movie Where Harry Does Not Deliver The Final Line
It seems fitting that Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry gets the last line in each movie they are his stories, after all. But in the last ever “Harry Potter” movie, Harry doesn’t actually get to say the last line.
Instead, the last line spoken is by his son, Albus Severus Potter. After a conversation in which Harry reassures his son about which house he might be sorted into at Hogwarts, Albus says “ready,” which is ironic seeing as none of us were ready for the end of “Harry Potter.”

Differences Between Philosophers Stone And Sorcerers Stone Films
- Five different takes were necessary to replace the words Philosophers Stone with Sorcerers Stone in the American version of the film. When the two DVDs were compared side by side it was noticed that in every case but one, only a slight difference in synchronisation was noticed. The most noticeable difference was when Hermione was reading from the book she had taken out of the library for a bit of light reading. The words on the page were changed from Philosophers to Sorcerers and her fingers, while straight in Philosophers they are bent in Sorcerers .

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Was it satisfying finally seeing Voldemort break up into little pieces and disintegrate like a Disney witch? Yes. Was it satisfying seeing Ron and Hermione finally lock lips? Not if youre a Harmony shipper. Still, this movie managed to tie the bow on one of the biggest and best film franchises of all time. Its fraught with tension and danger for our heroes, many of whom dont make it to the end. A satisfying final chapter.

Design And Special Effects
Judianna Makovsky served as the costume designer. She re-designed the Quidditch robes, having initially planned to use those shown on the cover of the American book, but deemed them “a mess.” Instead, she dressed the Quidditch players in “preppie sweaters, 19th-century fencing breeches and arm guards.” Production designer Stuart Craig built the sets at Leavesden Studios, including Hogwarts Great Hall, basing it on many English cathedrals. Although originally asked to use an existing old street to film the Diagon Alley scenes, Craig decided to build his own set, comprising Tudor, Georgian and Queen Anne architecture.
Columbus originally planned to use both animatronics and CGI animation to create the magical creatures, including Fluffy. Nick Dudman, who worked on Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, was given the task of creating the needed prosthetics, with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop providing creature effects. John Coppinger stated that the magical creatures that needed to be created had to be designed multiple times. The film features nearly 600 special effects shots, involving numerous companies. Industrial Light & Magic created Lord Voldemort‘s face on the back of Quirrell, Rhythm & Hues animated Norbert and Sony Pictures Imageworks produced the Quidditch scenes.

Home Market Releases For March 12th 2019
Its not a good week on the home market. There are some big releases, like Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but none of them are good. There are a couple of contenders for Pick of the Week, but the The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends: The Complete Series DVD is a re-release at a more reasonable price, while it is worth waiting to get the The Miseducation of Cameron Post: Special Edition Blu-ray. In the end, I went with a late screener, The Forbidden Photos Of A Lady Above Suspicion: Collectors Edition Blu-ray. It is definitely the best bet for fans of Giallo and / or Film Noir. More

The Letters From No One
- Dudley appears to know about Hogwarts, as he stares worriedly at Harry like his parents do. In the books, Dudley does not know about magic when Harry gets his letter.
- Harry does not get Dudleys second bedroom until the second film, with the latter film implying that the Dursleys supplied Harry with the room after the First Year.
- The scene where Harry and the Dursleys go to a random hotel to get away from the letters was omitted from the film, so instead they went straight to the hut.
- Because of this, Dudleys line of Daddys gone mad, hasnt he?! was moved to immediately after Uncle Vernon declares that they are going to move far enough away to ensure that the owls cant find them. In the book, Dudley says this line only after Vernon pauses driving long enough to do a glance around to see if any owls are following them on a bridge.
