Home Market Releases For March 28th 2017
Its a good week for Pick of the Week contenders, as there are seven such releases on this weeks list. Unfortunately, none of them really scream out as The Pick of the Week. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is by far the biggest, but it is only out on Video on Demandright now, while Hidden Figures is the best, but again, it is only on VOD this week. There are also a couple of busted Oscar-bait films, Archer: Season Seven is only getting a DVD release, while the previous seasons came out on Blu-ray. In the end, I went with Mystery Science Theater 3000: Volume XXXVIII, partially to celebrate the return of the show. More…
Yes ‘harry Potter’ Still Earns Royalties
It’s clear that the film series still earns royalties, especially because so many TV stations like to re-air the films, plus streaming services are now getting in on the replay action. As expert fans explained, in the European market, “collecting societies” manage the royalties for actors.
In the US, it’s usually studios, though there are also arrangements that actors can make with organizations like the Screen Actors Guild to ensure they get their dues. Residual checks, however, can vary widely, depending on how the creative material in question has been used. Payments are generally made on a regular schedule, fans say, generally quarterly, twice a year, or once a year.

Casting The Roles Of Harry Ron And Hermione
In 2000, after a seven-month search, lead actor Daniel Radcliffe was discovered by producer David Heyman and writer Steve Kloves seated just behind them in a theatre. In Heyman’s own words, “There sitting behind me was this boy with these big blue eyes. It was Dan Radcliffe. I remember my first impressions: He was curious and funny and so energetic. There was real generosity too, and sweetness. But at the same time he was really voracious and with hunger for knowledge of whatever kind.”
Radcliffe had already established himself as an actor in the 1999 BBC television production of David Copperfield in which he played the title role’s childhood years. Heyman persuaded Radcliffe’s parents to allow him to audition for the part of Harry Potter, which involved Radcliffe being filmed. Rowling was enthusiastic after viewing Radcliffe’s filmed test, saying she didn’t think there was a better choice for the part of Harry Potter.
Also in 2000, the then unknown British actors Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were selected from thousands of auditioning children to play the roles of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively. Their only previous acting experience was in school plays. Grint was eleven years old and Watson ten at the time they were cast.

Does Daniel Radcliffe Get Harry Potter Royalties
Fans have always been curious about how Danielâs âHarry Potterâ legacy has impacted his life. They already know Daniel gets followed by obsessive fans, can hardly catch a break when it comes to headlines about him , and struggled at first to break out of the child star mold.
Yet âHarry Potterâ was a significant milestone for Daniel, and really his jumping-off point to a continuously expanding career and film portfolio. The thing is, heâs not working to make money these days. Instead, the money is kind of making itself.
Based on what fans know about the film industry and the royalty system, it seems Daniel does receive cash flow from âHarry Potterâ to this day. But fans who are more in the know when it comes to industry guidelines point out that every actor gets royalties, and thatâs different from getting a cut of a projectâs proceeds.
While in-demand actors might earn percentage points â a sort of perk for being the main attraction â the trio from âHarry Potterâ wouldnât have had the star power to manage such a deal. Instead, knowledgeable fans noted, every single replay of âHarry Potterâ for public consumption means dollars in the pockets of the filmsâ stars.

Daniel Radcliffe Knows Hes Lucky With Money
Most fans know how humble Daniel Radcliffe is, even though his net worth is off the charts. But what makes him more endearing as a for-the-people actor is that he realizes how lucky heâs been. In interviews, Radcliffe has elaborated on how he realizes heâs lucky that he has, on numerous occasions, been in the right place at the right time.
He also realizes how incredibly fortunate heâs been to earn enough money that he doesnât have to work if he doesnât want to.
Yet Daniel also says he wants to work and, in essence, prove himself by working hard. He clearly doesnât want to be seen as a former child star, and his long indie resume since âHarry Potterâ wrapped is one piece of evidence that supports his position.
He may not have the best opinion of the film industry as a whole, but Daniel Radcliffe also doesnât plan on leaving it anytime soon. Yet he could retire anytime he wants, even without future payoffs from HP.
The question fans have, though, is whether Daniel is still raking in the dough from the film series these days.

How Much Money Did Daniel Radcliffe Make From Harry Potter
As hard as it is to believe, this November marks twenty years since Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone debuted in theaters. Daniel Radcliffe, the breakout star of what would go on to become the Harry Potter franchise, is now 32 years old and one of the wealthiest actors in the world. Hes kept himself busy in his post-Potter days with plenty of acting projects, including The Woman in Black, Horns, and TBSs The Miracle Workers. Hes even sung and danced his way across Broadway in the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
When all is said and done, Radcliffe is worth a whopping $110 million. This figure has been influenced by his recent acting roles, but most of it comes directly from the success of the eight Potter films he starred in as a child and teenager. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Radcliffe has hardly touched those earnings, but he acknowledges that theyve given him freedom in both his personal and professional lives.
Home Market Releases For November 7 2017
It is not a particularly strong week on the home market. Cars 3 is the biggest new release, but it is far from the best. There were not a lot of contenders for Pick of the Week. The Philadelphia Story and Your Name were the two best with the latter coming out on top and its Blu-ray Combo Pack is the Pick of the Week. More…

How Much Have The Video Games Made
Fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Hogwarts Legacy in 2021, even if they’re currently comprehending the bad news about a delay. Once upon a time, however, the Potter movies got the video game treatment across numerous consoles from the PlayStation to the Game Boy, Xbox to the Nintendo Gamecube.
They’ve made over $1b in total, with the LEGO games particularly enjoyable. The prospect of a sublime-looking Hogwarts on the next generation consoles certainly excites and it’ll be interesting to see how Hogwarts Legacy lives up to its vast potential.

Cast Of Harry Potter: How Much Are They Worth Now
It has already been six years since the last Harry Potter movie was released and incredible 16 years since the first film made its debut. In casting the lead roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint, film producers and the director picked mostly unknown child actors who rose to international stardom as the stars of the massively famous franchise. Many of the adult actors were well known and only added more notoriety to their resume and more money to their bank accounts, and it is safe to say the lead actors could comfortably retire off the fortune made from the films. While they are not in as many blockbusters, they have continued to act and are constantly adding a bit more padding to a full wallet. Check out how much the cast of Harry Potter are worth now!
How Much Have The Movies Made
The same report also claimed that Rowling had also made $7.7b in sales through the movies. The first was the biggest box office hit of the year, finishing ahead of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring at the top of the standings. Every Potter movie ranked as one of the highest-grossing films of their given release years, ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 2011. Coincidentally, it’s also the shortest movie of the collection, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Fans even got to see the main cast members aged up at the end, just like in the source material, and it was good to see Voldemort defeated once and for all.

Even Though Daniel Radcliffe Made A Fortune From Harry Potter He Hasn’t Spent Much Of It
Despite those eye-popping figures, Daniel Radcliffe hasn’t gone on a major spending spree with his cash. He says he’s hardly touched it, as he feels lucky that he’ll never have to worry about money in the future, according to The Telegraph.
We should also mention that while Radcliffe made a fortune for his time starring in “Harry Potter,” his earnings from those films is only part of the actor’s entire net worth. He’s appeared in several film and theater projects, and Showbiz CheatSheet estimates he’s really worth closer to $110 million, while the Sunday Times puts it closer to $112 million, making him one of the richest actors in Britain.
Whatever’s currently in the actor’s bank account, there’s no doubt the more than $95 million he earned from “Harry Potter” makes up the bulk of his fortune.
Imelda Staunton’s Net Worth Is Approximately $10 Million
Imelda Staunton received an Oscar nomination for her turn in “Vera Drake” in 2005, but it was her role as Dolores Umbridge in the “Harry Potter” series that really gave her the fame she has now. However, she will play a ruler of a different kind when she takes over the role of Queen Elizabeth in season four of Netflix’s“The Crown.”

How Much Will The Cast Of Harry Potter Make Off The Reunion On Hbo Max
A decade after the movies have ended, HBO Max is doing a reunion special bringing in the original cast for interviews.
HBO did a reunion special for Friends this year and paid each of the main cast 3 million dollars to comeback.
Will Smith also returned for a Fresh Prince reunion and the pay was reported at 3 million.
Basically streaming platforms for a cheaper way to get content that related to core franchises are investing in reunion specials and they actually get a lot of viewers.
Just for some perspective, the total cost of the Friends reunion came to 30 million dollars, which was 7 million more than what Squid Game cost.
They just announced a Harry Potter reunion with everyone except JK Rowling returning and they havent announced salaries, but just want to create a comparison with Friends, seeing how both are done with HBO Max.
First up, quick net worth comparison of the Friends cast to Harry Potter.
Emma Watson-85 millionRupert Grint-60 million
While the Potter cast has a bit less over the Friends cast personally, they are a lot younger and having had the same chance for wealth building off residuals, other projects and investments like the Friends cast have.
Also, all of them are working in some form and likely earning more over every Friends cast member besides Jennifer Anniston.
On a leverage front, they have just as much if not more than the Friends cast.

Thursday Night Previews: Grindelwalds Previews Were Fantastic And Beastly
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald earned $9.1 million during previews on Thursday, which is better than Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them managed. Granted, it was better by mere percentage points, as that earlier film earned $8.75 million during its previews. Where it goes from here is a bit of a mystery. On the one hand, its reviews are much worse than the previous installments reviews were and it is a sequel. Both of those facts suggest shorter legs. However, the gap between Fantastic Beasts and the last original Harry Potter film may have resulted in a much more front-loaded run, so The Crimes of Grindelwald could benefit from that. As always, we will know better this time tomorrow when Friday estimates are out. More…
