Does Harry Potter Glasses Have Lenses

How Do We Calculate With The Thin Lens Equation

GETTING MY FIRST GLASSES // My Harry Potter Glasses

An important thing to remember is that the object distance for both lens and mirrors is always a positive value. The image distance or i value in the thin lens equation may be negative or positive depending on the position of the image. If the image is on the same side as the object, in which we note as in front of the lens, then the image distance i value is negative . If the image is on the opposite side as the object, in which we note as behind the lens, then the image distance i value is positive.

For Lens:Images on the same side as the object are also known as virtual images. The i value is always negative.

Images on the opposite side of the object are also known as real images. The i value is always positive.

For mirrors: This is the opposite. Images on the same side as the object are real images.

Images on the opposite side of the object are virtual images.

Please note that we are referring to a general equation of 1/f = 1/i + 1/o that is used for both diverging and converging lens, in which our Summary Table below applies. Some people like to use two equations, depending on which lens they use. You may have used 1/f=1/o + 1/i for just convex or converging lens, and – = 1/o for just concave or diverging lens. In that case, for concave or diverging lens, you no longer have to pay attention the sign values, and simply plug in the numerical values for focal length, object distance, and image distance.

Did Harry Potter Ever Wear Contacts

I’ve read all the books and have seen all the movies , but I’ve been wondering: Is there ever a time when Harry wears contacts instead of glasses? My memory is pretty good, but it’s not that good 😉 I’m so used to seeing him in glasses that I’ve never really thought about alternatives.

  • 3Welcome to SciFi.se, personally I like this question, but others are VTC based on its localization. Feel free to take a look at the faq for what type of questions to ask in the future. As I said I like this question, as it leads to some interesting thoughts such as why couldn’t Harry use magic to repair his vision, or why when his glasses seemingly got in the way on several occasions he wouldn’t change to contacts and/or get LASIK or something.Nov 7 ’12 at 2:11
  • 3Note that the story plays in the past: between 1991 and 1998. Contacts weren’t as good at that time as they are now.

There is nothing in the books to suggest Harry wore contact lenses at any point during the series.

However, in both the movie and the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , during the King’s Cross scene he becomes conscious of not wearing or needing glasses while in that state of stasis.

He sat up. His body appeared unscathed. He touched his face. He was not wearing glasses any more.Deathly Hallows – page 565 – Bloomsbury – chapter 35, King’s Cross

Jk Rowling’s Glasses And The Glasses Of Her Characters

J.K. Rowlingone of the most influential women in Britain. J.K. Rowling’s glasses and the glasses of her characters

J.K. Rowling’s glasses style for reading glasses is classic and elegant – a very sophisticated look.

Her sunglasses, however, are more adventurous. They are a unique take on a popular look, and make her appear youthful, stylish and modern.

Perhaps more interesting, however, are the glasses worn by J.K. Rowling’s characters in Harry Potter. Throughout all seven of the books, the hero of the story, Harry Potter himself, wears glasses, and it is well know in the story that he suffers from very bad eyesight without them . This unusual image of a hero in glasses, for J.K. Rowling, stems from a very personal and interesting reason. In an interview, when a fan asked J.K. Rowling why Harry Potter wears glasses, she answered:

“Because I had glasses all though my childhood and I was sick and tired of the person in the books who wore the glasses was always the brainy one and it really irritated me and I wanted to read about a hero wearing glasses. It also has a symbolic function, Harry is the eyes onto the books in the sense that it is always Harry’s point of view, so there was also that, you know, facet of him wearing glasses”.

How Do I Know If A Lens Image Is Magnified Or Not Upside Down Or Upright

The magnification equation is m = i/o

If the m value is negative, the image is upside down. If the m value is positive, the image is upright side up.

Now, how do we know if the lens image is magnified, bigger or smaller, based on the thin lens equation? Good question. Plug in your i and o values, and take the absolute value.

m= | i/o |

If the absolute m value is greater than 1, then the image is larger than the size of the object.

If the absolute m value is equal to 1, the image size is the same size as the object.

If the absolute m value is less than 1, then the image is smaller than the size of the original object.

Why Does Harry Potter Wear Glasses

Reading Glasses No Line Progressive Clear Lens Round Harry ...

Is there some in-Universe explanation for why Harry wears glasses – either 100% of the time, or at least, when playing Quiddich?

Surely, given assorted spells, there should be one to repair either the issues with his near-sightedness, or, more likely, to act as lenses .

P.S. I seem to recall a spell to make someone see better from afar, but not sure of the details.

Poor eyesight simply appears to be a non-reversible ailment among wizards.

We have ample evidence that this is so, by the 19 other mentioned wizard and witches who also wear them.

Albus Dumbledore

Exactly, said Dumbledore, looking very seriously over the top of his half-moon glasses.

Creating The Harry Potter Look

Will says: I met with the director, costume designer and props master who all had a slightly different idea of what was required. The only thing that was set in stone was that the eye shape was to be round.

The first prototype we made up was a fairly chunky matt black 49mm round eye acetate .

We made up six different styles of plastic frames in varying thickness, colour and size before we decided to look at metal frames.

Again we looked at different sizes, bridges thickness of eye wire and finishes. We settled on a 38mm round silver plated frame with a W bridge but on the screen test; the silver didnt look quite right so we fitted black xylo rims. These were deemed a little too thick so we settle on black enamel rims. We used components supplied to us by Savile Row, who are well known for the John Lennon round style hand made glasses.

The gloss silver of the bridge and sides was a little too bright, we tried gunmetal, this was a little too dark so we made a polyurethane wash that we tinted with a little matt grey paint; and this gave a pleasing distressed, antique effect.

In all, we made up thirteen proto types before everyone was happy. During rehearsals we had a panic; the nickel silver from the rims was causing the actor to have an allergic reaction. We had to quickly make up duplicate pairs from rolled gold.;As the films went on, and Daniel grew, we had to increase the size of the glasses.

Daniel Radcliffe has banned himself from ever wearing glasses.

The 25-year-old actor – who starred as the boy wizard in the ‘Harry Potter’ film series – has revealed he will insist on having contact lenses if his sight ever gets impaired because he doesn’t want to be compared to the character he played for 10 years.

He told MTV: ”It’s gonna be contacts or like triangular glasses or something just to really put some distance.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Horns’ star recently revealed that he is desperate for fans to stop comparing his recent work to his role in the fantasy series.

He explained: ”There is no one film that fully separates me, in the eyes of everyone else, from Harry Potter – that isn’t going to happen.

”It’s about building up as diverse and interesting a body of work as I can.”

He added: ”I’m looking forward to the day where I can release a film and it not be talked about in .”

Daniel also admitted that he wants to show his future children the ‘Harry Potter’ films but will wait until they are old enough.

When asked if he thinks the movies will ”stand the test of time”, he said: ”Well will they or won’t they remake them before my kids are grown up? Will my kids be saying, ‘My Dad was the original Harry Potter?’

”That’s all a possibility! I have thought at what age would I let my kids see those films because it is such a weird thing – I think I’m going to try and not for a long time.”
