If you are one of those people who first tried to find the Harry Potter series on Netflix and then found it missing from the site, chances are your next logical conclusion was to check out HBOMax.
It would make sense that the platform features the story of the boy who defied the One Who Must Not Be Named since the platform is owned by WarnerMedia, the same company that produced the Harry Potter Franchise.
Depending on when you tried these, chance are you found all eight moves, however today you wouldnt be able to find the movies. This may be a bit confusing since WarnerBros own the rights to the franchise and it wouldnt be logical to exclude it from their own streaming services.
However, most people dont know that the film rights to the franchise were sold to NBC Universal. The dal for both on-air and digital rights for the franchise. The deal started having an effect in April 2018 and is scheduled to have the effect until 2025.
Although this deal complicates streaming of the movies a bit there were a few announcements with good news following the deals closure. NBC made plans to air all the movies and is currently in negotiation to release the directors cut, something the fans have been waiting from the moment it was released that only the first two movies would be getting extended versions.

Well, Halloween came and went and it looks like theHarry Potter films have, too.
On Nov. 1, all eight Harry Potter films were removed from NBCs Peacock. This latest move means that the franchise is no longer available to watch on any U.S. streaming platform. However, fans shouldnt panic just yet.

Harry Potter has been in a streaming platform war over the past few years. The franchise made its way onto HBO Max earlier this year. However, after only a few weeks, all of the films were moved to NBCs Peacock in October.
The films were set to appear on Peacock for at least the month of October. However, Potterheads quickly learned on Nov. 1 that the franchise is no longer available on the streaming platform.

Despite the news, fans shouldnt panic just yet. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the films will make their return to Peacock sometime in 2021. NBCUniversal says that the franchise will be available in windows, meaning they will come on and off the platform over the next six months and into next year.
NBCs Peacock further confirmed these plans on Twitter this week.

When all eight Harry Potter movies leave HBO Max on August 25, fans of the Wizarding World wont have to wait very long for the show to apparate elsewhere. NBCUniversal announced on Wednesday that the franchise will become available on its nascent Peacock streaming service for one month beginning in October. After that, the Harries Potter will return to Peacock in early 2021 and stream potentially through March.
In between, Vulture reported, the filmsHarry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and the two-part finale, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallowswill be available via NBCUniversals linear broadcast networks, which include not just NBC, but also E!, USA Network, Bravo, and Syfy.
Not that any of this should come as a total surprise. In 2016, before both WarnerMedia and NBCUniversal would eventually launch streaming services, NBCUniversal acquired the on-air and digital rights to the Harry Potter franchise from Warner Bros. through April 2025.
Now theres a little more clarity: at least for the next 20 daysand perhaps again in 2021 after the Peacock window closes.
