Bathilda Bagshot: Given that she knows both Dumbledore and Grindelwald, was a first-hand witness to their relationship, and is actually related to Grindelwald, it wouldnt be surprising for her to be written in. I just hope she doesnt ever meet Nagini, as that would be a bit*cough*.

Horace Slughorn: Slughorn is one of Dumbledores colleagues at this time, so they certainly interact and are parts of one anothers lives. While we dont get the idea that he is heavily involved in the Grindelwald war based on the way he handles the Voldemort wars, he could certainly make an appearance at some point.

Aberforth Dumbledore: Again, he knows both Dumbledore and Grindelwald and was witness to their plots to take over the world. Plus, unlike Bagshot, he has Strong Feelings about them both.

Rubeus Hagrid: Though probably not destined to be a main character, Hagrid is at Hogwarts with Dumbledore and has his favor. Because of his troubled past, few might suspect Dumbledore of using Hagrid as a sounding board or of sending him on covert assignments. Which is exactly why Dumbledore might do it.

The Ghosts : Nearly Headless Nick, the Grey Lady, the Bloody Baron, the Fat Friar, Peeves Theyre all at Hogwarts, where parts of the movies will presumably be set. Perhaps even Moaning Myrtle has been ordered away from Olive Hornby and back to the castle by the Ministry by this time.

There Are Too Many Movies In This Movie

The Secrets of Dumbledore is several things. It is a political drama about the rise of fascism in the wizarding world, a hijinks-filled look at magical creatures, a tie-in to the Harry Potter films, a prison heist , and a romance . Ditch a few of these elements, and you’re looking at something exciting. Keep them all and the audience is left wondering what’s going on and why it matters.

The meat of the film concerns Albus Dumbledore’s efforts to defeat dark wizard Grindelwald . Thanks to a blood pact the two made when they were young and in love aka, MacGuffin #1 they are unable to attack one another outright.

Since he can’t move against Grindelwald directly, Dumbledore sends a team including magizoologist Newt Scamander and his Muggle friend Jacob Kowalski to confuse the absolute hell out of his ex. Seriously, their goal is to confuse him to disrupt his powers of foresight.

You’ll leave ‘The Secrets of Dumbledore’ more bewildered than bewitched.

Dumbledore doesn’t tell everyone the full plan , so much of the movie’s first half involves scenes that feel random and disconnected, even though we know they’re supposed to mean something. As the puzzle pieces fall ever so slowly into place, you can’t help but be annoyed that the film wasted its time with such clunky obfuscation.

Harry Potter And The Half

Voldemort and his Death Eaters are increasing their terror upon the Wizarding and Muggle worlds. Needing him for an important reason, Headmaster Dumbledore persuades his old friend Horace Slughorn to return to his prior post at Hogwarts. During Slughorn’s Potions class, Harry takes possession of a strangely annotated school textbook, previously owned by the “Half-Blood Prince”.

In July 2007, it was announced that Yates would return as director. Kloves returned to write the screenplay after skipping out of the fifth film, with Heyman and David Barron back as producers. Watson considered not returning for the film, but eventually signed on after Warner Bros. moved the production schedule to accommodate her exam dates. Aberforth Knows The True Story

While Magical Beasts builds numerous theories about Aurelius around Albus and Grindelwald, theres one person we feel who has the true answer. Thats middle brother Aberforth.

Hes the one who told the story about Albus friendship with Grindelwald and the death of their sister to Harry and his compatriots, so why wouldnt he have the scoop about who Aurelius truly is. Unless someone put a confundus charm on him.

Newt Has A Relaxed Philosophy

The nature of Newt’s work and the dangerous situations in which he often finds himself would be cause for alarm to many people, but Newt follows a calming mantra. In consoling Jacob Kawolski while he and Newt attempt to wrangle an Erumpant in Central Park, Newt says, “My philosophy is that worrying means you suffer twice.”

In viewing Newt’s escapades through this lens, it’s clear that he means what he says. Newt operates from a stance of confidence that doesn’t leave room for worry. It’s what enables him to achieve such daring feats, from navigating a dark cavern to freeing his brother Theseus to believing an Obscurial can rid itself of its own parasite. While these events don’t always turn out according to plan, Newt approaching them with confidence means he has compartmentalized the part of his mind that says they are not possible, the part that fears an unwelcome outcome. Instead, he simply moves forward, and the wizarding world is made better because of it.

With the imminent arrival of Fantastic Beasts, we decided to take a look at the Harry Potter characters we think could make a cameo in the film.

When the final installment of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, was released in theaters, many were sad to see the Boy Who Lived and all his friends go. Still more of us, however, knew that both Rowling and Warner Bros. were unlikely to let this franchise simply slip away. Newt Is A Bestselling Author

Newt’s handbook “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” was a labor of love. In the book’s introduction, Scamander states that the volume “represents the fruit of many years’ travel and research.” He goes on to describe the book’s genesis. Augustus Worme of the publisher Obscurus Books enlisted Scamander to write the book in 1918. Over the course of the next decade, Newt spent “holidays traveling the globe in search of new magical species.” The journey took him to five continents, studying and learning from the creatures he encountered. In the movie “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” we learn that Newt’s book was finally published in early 1927, in between the events of the first and second films.

According to Albus Dumbledore in his endorsement for a later edition of the book, a copy of it “resides in almost every wizarding household in the country.” A version was even made available to Muggle readers, under the guise of being a work of fiction.

The need for Newt’s book is made apparent in the first “Fantastic Beasts” film as he talks with American witch Tina Goldstein. In telling Tina he’s working on a manuscript for a book about magical creatures, she echoes the thinking of most wizardkind at the time in asking, “Like an extermination guide?” Newt explains the book is quite the contrary. Rather, his vision is to share “why we should be protecting them instead of killing them.”

Dumbledore Defeated Grindelwald In A Legendary Duel

Grindelwald stole one of the Hallows, the Elder Wand, from the Eastern European wandmaker Mykew Gregorovitch.

From here, he dabbled more in the dark arts and rose to power. The details of his rise aren’t clear, but we do know that he killed a lot of people and established a prison, Nurmengard, for his enemies. He thought it was impregnable.

As Grindelwald became more infamous, Dumbledore faced him down. In 1945, in a duel for the ages, Dumbledore defeated him, leaving Grindelwald imprisoned in Nurmengard.

“In a list of Most Dangerous Dark Wizards of All Time, he would miss out on the top spot only because You-Know-Who arrived, a generation later, to steal his crown,” Rita Skeeter wrote. Voldemort might also be the more powerful wizard. He’s the only known person who ever broke into Nurmengard.

Nicholas Flamel & The Philosophers Stone

Oh, what a joy it was to catch a glimpse of the Philosophers Stone after all these years. Nicholas Flamel, the creator of the infamous stone finally makes his onscreen debut in this movie to help Newt and friends defeat Grindelwald. What was more exciting however, was the brief glimpse of the Philosophers Stone in his cupboard, just sitting there, glistening and glimmering in all its redness.

Kendra Dumbledore Is Aurelius Mother

Then again, the timeframe of Kendras death and the birth of Aurelius are close enough that she can be his true mother. According to various records, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, she died at the hands of her daughter, Ariana, when Albus was out of the country for summer break.

Being a muggle-born wizard, conception to term would still be nine months. That means someone would have impregnated her the prior fall. Perhaps, after birth, Aurelius was magically protected so he wasnt dealt the same curse as his Squib sister. Its something to consider.

Newt Was The First Wizard To Ever Catch Grindelwald

As we see in the first “Fantastic Beasts” movie, Newt gets more than he bargained for when he visits the United States in 1926. Arriving in New York City on the way to Arizona with the goal of setting a Thunderbird free in its natural habitat, Newt gets caught up in an incident with the Magical Congress of the United States of America and winds up thwarting the nefarious plan of a man named Mr. Graves. Graves then reveals himself to be the world’s most dangerous wizard, Gellert Grindelwald. In his book, Newt confirms he was the first wizard to ever achieve this feat. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the next film, Grindelwald escapes and remains elusive for the remainder of the next two movies.

MACUSA acknowledges Newt has done them a great service, but they also must face facts. In the events leading up to Grindelwald’s capture, which involved Newt’s magical creatures breaking loose from his briefcase, nearly all of New York City was exposed to magic. This is a serious offense, and even though Newt is able to wipe the memory of every Muggle in the city, he is still banned from traveling internationally thereafter.

Newt disobeys his travel ban to continue to pursue Grindelwald with a team assembled by Albus Dumbledore. While still unsuccessful at capturing Grindelwald at least in the movies released so far they do prevent the villain from becoming the elected leader of the wizarding world.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore can finally reveal Harry Potters darkest mystery surrounding Albus Dumbledores sister, Ariana. The third Fantastic Beasts movie will see Aberforth Dumbledore reunite with his older brother Albus, who is rallying everyone around him in his war against his friend-turned-foe Gellert Grindelwald . It has been a long time since the brothers spoke to each other, and this reunion is bound to explain the tragic story of Ariana Dumbledore.

Is Credence Really Dumbledores You

Its important to note that, while disguised as Graves in the first Fantastic Beasts film, Grindelwald shamelessly lies to Credence in order to exploit him. First, Grindelwald lies and says he wants to help Credence learn wizardry, in order to get Credence to help him locate the Obscurial not realizing that Credence is the Obscurial. Later, he reveals this offer to have been a trick, deeming Credence an unmagical squib and blowing him off completely until realizing his mistake.

Grindelwald clearly has no idea that Credence is even a wizard at this point, let alone which powerful wizarding family he might belong to.

Grindelwald also apparently lies to Credence at the end of The Crimes of Grindelwald by implying that Dumbledore wants him dead an obvious lie on Grindelwalds part, since as far as we know, Dumbledore doesnt even know who Credence is.

So its entirely possible that Grindelwald could be lying to Credence when he reveals that Credence is part of Dumbledores family. And there are plenty of reasons to think that he is.

What doesnt seem possible is that Dumbledore himself doesnt know he has a long-lost brother, but that Grindelwald who, again, appeared to have no idea who Credence was in the first film, which takes place just a few months before this one somehow does.

So in essence, either Grindelwald is lying, or Rowling is completely voiding the canonical timeline or else theres some other plot twist afoot that has to explain this plot twist.

Fantastic Beasts 3 4 And 5 Cast: Who’s Coming Back For Fantastic Beasts 3

Johnny Depp will not be reprising his role as Grindelwald after he was asked to resign from the role by Warner Bros. Depp had shot one scene as Grindelwald for the third movie, but we don’t know if this will end up in the movie or not.

The role of Grindelwald will now be played by Doctor Strange and Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen. It’s not yet clear how the recast will be handled in the movie, but given the world of Harry Potter, it could easily be put down to a potion, accident or magical disguise.

Mikkelsen revealed that he didn’t talk to Depp about the role and he took it on because his daughter is a fan of the Harry Potter franchise. Don’t go expecting a Depp impression from Mikkelsen though.

“I have been a fan of Johnny Depp since I saw him as a young man, and to try to bring his intensity and his way of doing it into my work is a no-go. I have to find my own, because his is unique, and I just have to let that be, and find a different path,” he said.

As for the rest of the characters, not everyone survived The Crimes of Grindelwald, so raise a glass to Leta Lestrange who was tragically killed by Grindelwald after helping Newt and the others escape.

This doesn’t completely rule out us seeing Leta again in the series, but it would have to take the form of a flashback.

Eddie Redmayne will be back as Newt Scamander and he’ll be joined by the likes of Katherine Waterston , Jude Law , Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol .
