Is Voldemort In Fantastic Beasts 2

Don't Miss

Who Will Carry On The Lestrange Line

Fantastic Beasts 2 Confirms Voldemort Fan Theory – IGN Daily Fix

Le-stranger things have happened

One big focus in Crimes is the Lestrange family, known from Rowlings books because of Rodolphus and Bellatrix Lestrange, two of Voldemorts most loyal Death Eaters. Crimes reveals that the Lestrange family has some extremely dark history to go along with their evil descendants, involving magical kidnapping, rape, multiple deaths during childbirth, and a selfish, fatal choice aboard a sinking ship that may or may not have been the Titanic. Crimes establishes a previous generation of the family, then promptly wipes it out. Between the deaths of the younger Corvus V and his half-sister Leta Lestrange, its not clear that there are actually any Lestranges left to carry on the name. The Lestrange family tree is complicated, but at the moment, the branches seem to have been pruned back pretty sharply.

Then again, its Harry Potter, and mysterious lost relatives are constantly turning up out of the blue. Le-stranger things have happened.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Details

Harry Potter fans now have a new word to add to their lexicon: Nonmagique. Thats the nomenclature that the wizarding communities of France embrace regarding non-magical people, as will be revealed in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, according EW. Of course, it contrasts with the tried-and-true U.K. Hogwarts-standard word, muggle, and, as we learned in the original Fantastic Beasts, the American term, no-maj.

As more intriguing plot details about Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald emerged, discussion about the titular fantastic beasts themselves has been oddly scarce. However, it seems that Newt Scamanders mischievous suitcase dwellers will still live up to the billing of the first part of the sequels title.

Executive producer David Heyman reveals that while the plot has shifted away from the escape of the beasts in the first film, they will still be a strong presence in the Paris-set sequel. As Heyman explained last December to EW:

There are as many beasts in the film as in the first. But the main driver in the first film was finding the beasts. Thats not the driver in this film, its not a central part of the plot. But beasts feature in the film and feature strongly.

Before the reveal of Paris as the sequels primary setting, Heyman previously explained at length:

Fantastic Beasts : Voldemort Snake Theory Officially Confirmed

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald star Claudia Kim officially reveals her character is the human form of Nagini, Voldemort’s snake.

It’s now been confirmed that Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will reveal the secret history of Nagini, Voldemort’s trusty serpent. After more than a year of silence, South Korean actress Claudia Kim has finally disclosed the name of her character a circus performer named Nagini, whose story seems far more tragic than anyone had expected.

Warner Bros. previously revealed that Kim was playing a Maledictus witch, a sorceress whose blood was cursed and is destined to transform into a creature forever it’s similar to an Animagus, except without the idea of free will. It didn’t take long for fans to theorize that she could actually be playing Nagini, given J.K. Rowling has previously been unusually enigmatic about the giant snake’s history.

Kim has finally confirmed that all the theories have been correct. Speaking to EW, she’s revealed that her character is indeed Nagini. She’ll be introduced as a member of the Circus Arcanus, where she’ll show off her transformations for Muggle audiences who think she’s just a circus performer. As Kim notes, this will be Nagini as she’s never been seen before. “In this, shes a wonderful and vulnerable woman who wants to live. She wants to stay a human being and I think thats a wonderful contrast to the character.

Fantastic Beasts 3 Release Date Is July 15 2022

The Fantastic Beasts 3 release date is set for July 15, 2022, so by the time the film hits cinemas, itll be over three years since the debut of The Crimes of Grindelwald. Thats rather longer than the two years that elapsed between the first two Fantastic Beasts movies, but it wasnt all caused by COVID-19

Instead, Warner Bros announced as far back as April 2019 that the Fantastic Beasts 3 release date would be in late 2021. Why? The company line is artistry”. We are incredibly excited about and have confidence in the Fantastic Beasts series, said Warner Bros Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich. We all believe this release date will give the filmmakers time and space to allow their artistry to truly flourish and deliver the best possible film to our fans.

That announcement came after Deadline had already reported that production had been delayed from its original July 2019 start date. Star Dan Fogler also told HeyUGuys that: The movie is going to be gigantic! The reason we were given is that the movie is bigger than the first two combined. They needed more time to prep and they didnt want to rush anything so they pushed it back.

Come March 2020 and Fantastic Beasts 3 was filming and set for cinemas in November the following year. Then, COVID-19 struck. Filming was paused, but then the cameras started rolling again in September.

Spoilers for Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them lie ahead.

The magizoological exploits of Eddie Redmaynes Newt Scamander continue in this sequel to the 2016 Harry Potter movie series spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

While Fantastic Beasts 2 reunites Newt with American friends Tina Goldstein , Queenie Goldstein and Muggle Jacob Kowalski , the stakes will rise significantly as Johnny Depps Gellert Grindelwald steps into the sinister spotlight, concocting a dangerous new plot. Thankfully, a younger version of the sagely Albus Dumbledore will help tackle this threat.

Harry Potter Characters To Feature Infantastic Beasts 3

Fans have speculated that some Harry Potter characters will be starring in Fantastic Beasts 3. Dan Fogler, in an interview with The Movie Dweeb, clarified a rumour about Hagrid’s character to return in the new film. He said that there could be a Hagrid crossover considering Fantastic Beasts 3‘s timeline. Another rumour also says that the third installment could see Tom Riddles’ younger version along with Hagrid’s Tom Riddle attended Hogwarts in the early 1940s before becoming the game-changer.

The Crimes of Grindelwald was set in the year 1927 and previously JK Rowling had also mentioned that the series will end in 1945. However, the presence of both Hagrid and Tom Riddle at Hogwarts does mean that Fantastic Beasts 3 has to be set up in the early 1940s. Thats when Hagrid joined the school and started his first year, with Tom Riddle was in his third year. The two characters are seen sharing screen previously in Chambers of secrets in the Harry Potter series.

How Does The Timeline Work Now

The Crimes of Grindelwald doesnt just introduce new faces to the Potter world it brings back some old friends in young forms that dont really make a ton of sense.

Chief among those is the appearance by a young Professor McGonagall, whose brief scenes in Crimes of Grindelwald dont fit the franchises established timeline. McGonagalls birthday had previously been worked out by fans at the Harry Potter wiki to be in 1935, eight years after Crimes takes place. McGonagall herself notes in Order of the Phoenix that she had only been teaching at Hogwarts for thirty-nine years this December in 1995, putting her start date in 1956. And yet Crimes has her as an adult, already teaching at the school in 1927. The obvious answer is that the Professor McGonagall in the film is an older relative again, Rowling loves to bring in recognizable names from different generations except that the films credits and Rowlings official script both indicate that the character in the film is Minerva McGonagall. Thats confusing, but its unlikely to be a mistake its more likely that Rowling is changing the timeline somehow.

‘fantastic Beasts : ‘ Who Is Nagini And Why Does It Matter

Over the years, J.K. Rowling has become known for fleshing-out her Harry Potter universe, George Lucas-style, retconning, or revealing, an expanded lore that rivals the microscopic minutia of fan fiction.

Remember Lord Voldemort – pale guy, obsessed with blood purity? Had an unhealthy obsession with snakes? Well, that fixation just became so much creepier, due to the latest Fantastic Beasts 2 trailer namedropping Nagini, revealing that the cold-blooded creature was once a human woman.

Who is Nagini, you might ask? Well, she is Voldemorts favorite snake , but the snake that is found lovingly coiled around her master, the one who is eventually revealed to be another Horcrux.

But now we know Nagini was no simple supervillainous pet, but a human woman cursed with the Maledictus blood curse, which, according to Rowling, is a female-only inherited condition which grants the affected individual the ability to transform into an animal at will, until one day, the transformation becomes permanent.

If youre confused about the ever-deepening Potter lore, let me explain being a Maledictus is different from an Animagus , as the Animagus is free to change into an animal at will, without being doomed to permanently become said animal.

Its hard to judge which sleeping situation is worse, Naginis or Peter Pettigrews. Lets just say theyre both deeply disturbing, and leave it at that. But I must say, I never fail to be impressed by the depths of Rowlings depravity.

The Harry Potter films saw Lord Voldemort as the big bad dark wizard, but now in Fantastic Beasts its Gellert Grindelwalds turn.

Fans will remember from the seventh Harry Potter book and last couple of movies that he was the evil force in the wizarding world long before Tom Riddle.

Played by Johnny Depp in the Fantastic Beasts films, the fifth and final outing set for release in November 2024 will depict when Dumbledore won the Elder Wand from him in a duel at the end of the Second World War.

And according to Fantastic Beasts 2 director Yates, Grindelwald is very different to Voldemort.

Professor QuirrellHarry Potter and the Philosophers Stone

Voldemort makes his debut in Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. In this story, Rowling introduces him as the Dark Lord who tried to kill Harry Potter because the boy was prophesied to destroy him. Voldemort murdered Harrys parents, James and Lily, but as a result of his mothers love and willingness to sacrifice herself for him, baby Harry survived when Voldemort tried to murder him with a Killing Curse. Voldemort was disembodied, and Harry was left with a mysterious, lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead as a result.

The Chamber Of Secrets Will Be A Subplot

There is little doubt that we wont see Tom Riddles formative years at Hogwarts. Especially considering that Rowling herself confirmed that we will see how Dumbledore became Dumbledore. This all lends credence to the fact that the Chamber will heavily feature as a subplot down the line.

Im pretty sure that Newts storyline will strongly parallel Hagrids as he gives a young Rubeus Hagrid an Acromantula egg. This will further tie into Dumbledore arguing in Hagrids favour and him keeping a watchful eye over Riddle.

Its also possible that we will see Tom Riddles cut backstory from the films with the Gaunts and the effect of Grindelwalds war on him.

But its true that we are really excited to see what happens next in the World of Wizards. And I am sure we wont be disappointed!

Fantastic Beasts 2 Reveal About Nagini Has Some Unfortunate Implications

Today it was revealed by the latest Fantastic Beasts trailer and Entertainment Weekly that Claudia Kim, in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, is playing none other than Voldemorts future Harry Potter series pet snake/Horcrux, Nagini.

Kim has not been able to speak on this issue for a year, because this completely changes the way we view the character. In the interview with EW, Kim says, It will be so interesting to see another side of Nagini. Youve only seen her as a Horcrux. In this, shes a wonderful and vulnerable woman who wants to live. She wants to stay a human being, and I think thats a wonderful contrast to the character.

According to this expanded universe, Nagini can transform from human to snake at will, yet due to her mysterious blood curse she knows that eventually, shell become a snake permanently, which is why she will eventually be the serpent who helps Voldemort gain strength and becomes his constant companion.

J.K. Rowling said on Twitter that she had been keeping this secret for 20 years and that Nagini is a Human Maledictus, not an Animagus. The difference is that a maledictus is a female individual whose blood was cursed from birth, eventually leading to them turning into a beast. The curse is passed down from mother to daughter, and being an animagus is a learned, non-gendered skill.

Other Harry Potter Characters Who Can Appear In Fantastic Beasts

Mykew Gregorovitch is another often forgotten character from the Harry Potter series who can still show up in Fantastic Beasts. Gregorovitch was a wandmaker and competitor of Garrick Ollivander, who got a hold of the Elder Wand at some point and tried to duplicate its powers . Grindelwald stole the wand from him, and shot a Stunning Spell at Gregorovitch before escaping. Being one of the few that have held and studied the Elder Wand, Gregorovitch could have a place in the Fantastic Beasts series.

As theres no way of telling what the series limits when it comes to time settings will be, and with Rowling changing Harry Potter canon and doing what she wants with dates and backstories, then characters like young Rodolphus and Bellatrix Lestrange, as well as Hagrid, could appear at some point. Perhaps one of the few characters that can show up without having to go through a retcon is Horace Slughorn. He became Potions Master at Hogwarts around the same time as Dumbledore started, and then became the Head of Slytherin House. Slughorn is mostly remembered for being the one who told Tom Riddle about horcruxes, so if Fantastic Beasts adds Riddles story, Slughorn would have to make an appearance. Of course, all this could change for better or worse as the movies are developed, mainly because Rowling is the one in charge of writing the stories, and she can change anything in order to fit the story she wants to tell.

Fantastic Beasts 2 Producer Thinks Grindelwald Is A Scarier Villain Than Voldemort

Fantastic Beasts 2 cast explanation: Dumbledore and ...

  • The Harry Potter series introduced audiences to one of the most memorable villains in novel and film history. Over the course of seven novels and eight films, Harry constantly struggled against the evil force that was Lord Voldemort. Sure, you may have some hangups about how effective he was as a villain, but he was a formidable antagonist nonetheless, one that effectively drove an entire franchise.

With the Fantastic Beasts series, we have been introduced to another big and memorable villain in the form of Gellert Grindelwald, played by Johnny Depp. Like Voldemort, his character calls for the oppression of muggles and a certain amount of purity within the Wizarding World community. But which villain will end up being the strongest one in the long run? That remains to be seen, but during a recent roundtable LRM attended, producer David Heyman opened up about who he thought was scarier.

I think its important to remember that Grindelwald to me is a much scarier villain than Voldemort, because Grindelwald makes sense to some people. Callum said Voldemorts power is fear and intimidation. Grindelwald seduces, actually. You know, as much as we may hate certain politicians because they dont speak our language, we have to understand that they are answering the needs and vulnerabilities, insecurities of others. Grindelwald is doing that.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

In the second instalment, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Rowling introduces Tom Marvolo Riddle, a manifestation of a teenage Voldemort that resides inside a magical diary found by Ginny Weasley. In this book, Ginny is written as a shy girl with a crush on Harry. Feeling anxious and lonely, she begins to write into the diary and shares her deepest fears with the sympathetic Tom. However, at the climax of the story, when Riddle rearranges the letters in his name to write “I am Lord Voldemort”, Riddle is revealed as a magical manifestation of the boy who would later grow up to become the Dark Lord. Riddle states he has grown strong on Ginny’s fears and eventually possesses her, using her as a pawn to unlock the Chamber of Secrets, whence a basilisk is set free and petrifies several Hogwarts students. Harry defeats the manifestation of Riddle from the diary and the basilisk. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Albus Dumbledore reveals to Harry that the diary was one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes.
