True friendship and loyalty are the tenets of Harry Potter. This is why the best bonds in the Potter movies have been the platonic ones.

Unlike other franchises, the ever-growing Harry Potter Universe does not rely solely on romance to set the ball rolling and thicken the plot. Friendship, parental love, courage, and the victory of good over evil are the tenets of the Potterverse, and have been since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone till the more recent Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

While couples and romantic relationships are always popular, the best bonds in the Potter movies have been the platonic ones. True and lasting friendship along with loyalty has always been depicted in a stellar manner in the books and movies, and some of these non-romantic relationships trump even the best amorous ones.

How Harry Potters Movies Ruined Fred Weasleys Death

In the book, Fred and George were assigned to defend Hogwarts secret passages, and when the Death Eaters forced their way in, Fred fought next to his older brother Percy, who had just ended his affiliation with the Ministry of Magic and combated his former boss, Pius Thicknesse. Fred turned to his brother and was interrupted mid-sentence by an explosion, and the group flew through the air on different directions. After the initial shock, Harry realized he was half buried in the wreckage of a corridor, and thats when he heard a terrible cry that pulled at his insides.

He saw three redheaded men grouped on the ground, and heard someone shouting in denial. Percy was shaking Freds body, and Ron was kneeling beside them. Rowlings wording of the scene makes it even more heartbreaking, describing Freds eyes as staring without seeing. Percy didnt leave Freds side until Harry helped him move the body somewhere safer, and he was later moved to the Great Hall, where his family and friends mourned over him. However, the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 completely changed Freds death.

Hermione Granger And Ginny Weasley

Many Redditors would like to change Harry Potter to add more female friendship into it, but a careful perusal would reveal a shining friendship which grew under fans’ noses without them realizing: Ginny and Hermione’s. Their interactions were not explicit, but the two witches roomed together at The Burrow every summer.

They had clearly grown close, and Hermione treated Ginny like a little sister, advising her on Harry and navigating life as a young woman. Ginny shared secrets with Hermione before anyone else, which made sense since she had just been surrounded by her brothers since she was born.

George Was The Better Quidditch Player

While both Fred and George were excellent Beaters, and a credit to the Gryffindor Quidditch team, there were more mentions of George hitting Bludgers than there were of Fred. George seemed to be the slightly more aggressive of the two on the Quidditch pitch, described once as hitting a Bludger at a player as a way of vent his feelings, and retaliating for a foul by elbowing a Slytherin Beater in the face. He even had good aim with snowballs. Aggression may, of course, be a very desirable trait in a Beater, so it could be this that gave George the edge over his brother. It was probably a healthy outlet for George, too, as off the pitch he was usually the more compassionate of the two.

As anyone who has ever lost someone they are close to knows, its impossible to ever fully get over the loss of someone as close as a child or sibling. J.K. But that doesnt mean that he never finds happiness.

In the documentary J.K. Rowling: A Year in the Life, the author drew a family tree of the Weasleys and explained,A lot of readers ask me: was George all right? And of course he wouldnt be all right, would he? Thats the reality. But I think that he married Angelina, who was actually Freds ex. Maybe its a bit unhealthy, but I think that they would have been happy as happy as he could be without Fred. I think he really would have felt like part of himself died.
