When Did The 7th Harry Potter Come Out

Don't Miss

He Maintained A Relationship With Dudley

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 – Warner Bros. UK

Harry never really got along with his Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, and his cousin Dudley.

He was often treated horribly by his relatives who justified their actions by explaining that they took Harry in when he was a baby and that he never fit in.

Dudley was often mean to his cousin even though Harry never did anything to upset him.

After the last Harry Potter book was released, J.K. Rowling revealed what happened to Harry and Dudleys relationship.

In a Q& A back in 2007 with MTV, Rowling explained that the cousins never really became good friends, but would visit one another so that their children could spend time with their own cousins.

Rowling compared this to being on Christmas-card terms with someone.

He Refused To Save Cedric Diggory

It was clearly a traumatic experience for Harry when Voldemort took Cedric Diggorys life right in front of him.

Diggory may have been his competition in winning the Triwizard Tournament, but he was still a classmate and friend. Despite Harrys guilt over not being to save Cedric, Harry refused to go back in time to save Cedric when Amos Diggory asked him to.

Harry learned the danger of time travel from Hermione and he knew it could drastically damage the present if he changed the past.

Harrys son Albus didnt agree with his fathers decision, however, and decided to travel back in time with Draco Malfoys son – Scorpius – in order to save Cedric.

Online Leaks And Early Delivery

In the week before its release, a number of texts purporting to be genuine leaks appeared in various forms. On 16 July, a set of photographs representing all 759 pages of the US edition was leaked and was fully transcribed prior to the official release date. The photographs later appeared on websites and peer-to-peer networks, leading Scholastic to seek a subpoena in order to identify one source. This represented the most serious security breach in the Harry Potter series’ history. Rowling and her lawyer confirmed that there were genuine online leaks. Reviews published in both The Baltimore Sun and The New York Times on 18 July 2007, corroborated many of the plot elements from this leak, and about one day prior to release, The New York Times confirmed that the main circulating leak was real.

The Deathly Hallows Come Together At Last

There was an interesting Easter egg contained in Harry’s first shot of the last film. As he’s mourning by Dobby’s beachfront grave, he looked in a triangular fragment of a mirror the elf had possessed thanks to the circular nature of his glasses, it created the symbol of the Deathly Hallows in the reflection. It was a wink to how all three elements would eventually be his to do with what he wished.

The Deathly Hallows as Part 1 explained in animated format consisted of the Elder Wand, the Cloak of Invisibility, and the Resurrection Stone. When combined, the three gave a wizard untold power, the ability to disappear from Death’s purview, and a means to bring back lost souls. Voldemort got his hands on one the Elder Wand while Harry had been casually given the cloak in his earliest days at Hogwarts, not knowing its strength. He eventually recovers the Stone, too, after kissing his Snitch goodbye with the intention of sacrificing himself.

Speaking of which …

Voldemort and the Elder Wand

Harry, Hermione, and Ron finally make it to the Shrieking Shack, where Voldemort is waiting out the battle. They discover him talking to Severus Snape, who wishes to participate in the battle to find Harry, but Voldemort’s only concern is that the Elder Wand does not seem to work properly for him. He coldly sets his snake on Snape, believing that the wand cannot serve him while Snape is still alive, as Snape had killed Dumbledore. As he dies, Harry runs out to him, and Snape gives up his memories to Harry, and his last request was to look into Harry’s eyes who has the same eyes as his mother Lily. Voldemort then delivers an ultimatum if Harry does not surrender himself in an hour, he will join the battle, and all in Hogwarts will be destroyed. Returning to the castle, Harry sees the defenders looking for loved ones and counting up the dead, with Lupin and Tonks laying next to Colin Creevey and Fred. After seeing this, Harry makes his way up to Dumbledore’s office to view the memories Snape left him.

Infiltration Of The Ministry

  • A scene is added showing Death Eaters stopping and searching the Hogwarts Express. Their intentions are left ambiguous until explained by Xenophilius Lovegood much later in the film.
  • Cho Chang, Katie Bell, and Cormac McLaggen are all seen on the Hogwarts Express, even though they should have graduated the previous year. However, a possible explanation to all this is that Katie was to return to make up for all the time she spent in St Mungo’s and McLaggen failing all his studies due to thinking up Quidditch plans or had to repeat a previous year. Another explanation would be that they had left the school due to Dumbledore’s death prior to taking their N.E.W.T.S. With regards to Katie, she is implied to be in Harry’s year in the films anyway seeing as she is shown to be in his Potions class in the sixth film.
  • The events of the new school year at Hogwarts, including the re-forming of Dumbledore’s Army and Snape’s position as Headmaster have been largely omitted, except for an announcement about the latter, and a scene where Harry observes Snape with the and finds him in the Headmaster’s office.
  • Lupin is not present at Grimmauld Place, and the large argument between him and Harry about the former’s son is omitted.

Chapter 3: King’s Cross

Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?
â Dumbledore, to Harry

Harry during his “death”

However, Harry finds himself in a sort of dream and meets the deceased Albus Dumbledore in what appears to be a deserted King’s Cross Station. He appears to be in a Limbo state in which he can speak to Dumbledore. Here, it is explained he cannot be killed by Voldemort whilst Voldemort lives. Since Voldemort used Harry’s blood to recreate his body, Lily’s protection over Harry binds the two and therefore tethers Harry to life. Dumbledore then gives Harry a theory on why his wand acted of its own accord: as a result of their encounter in the Little Hangleton graveyard three years previous, Harry’s wand was imbued with some of the qualities of Voldemort’s wand and regurgitated some of his own magic back at him. He also discovers that the part of Voldemort’s soul he had had inside himself has been destroyed by the attempted murder Harry was in fact a Horcrux. Near a bench Voldemort’s soul is represented as a naked flayed child, whimpering and struggling for breath.

So it all comes down to this, doesnât it? Does the wand in your hand know its last master was Disarmed? Because if it does… I am the true master of the Elder Wand.

He Came Face To Face With Voldemorts Daughter

When Delphi is first introduced in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, she is believed to be the niece of Amos Diggory. This is soon discovered to be a lie and it is revealed that Delphi is actually the daughter of Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange.

Delphi manipulates Albus and Scorpius into helping her steal a time-turner from Hermiones office at the Ministry of Magic and travel back in time to save Cedric Diggory.

Knowing that this could potentially change history, Delphi tries to follow a prophecy so that her father can return.

While her plan ultimately fails, it was still surprising to have Harry come face to face with Lord Voldemort and Bellatrixs offspring.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

Theres quite a bit to unpack in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, so well dive right in: after attending an eventful Quidditch World Cup with Hermione and the Weasley family, Harry returns to Hogwarts for his fourth year of school. Its bound to be an exciting one, as Hogwarts is hosting the Triwizard Tournament, in which students from three major wizarding academies will compete. However, only students aged seventeen or older are eligible for the competition, which means Harry is safe for once or so he thinks, until the ceremonial Goblet of Fire selects him as the fourth Triwizard Champion for no discernible reason.

What follows is a nonstop sequence of thrills, landmarked by the challenges of the tournament in which the contestants must tackle menacing dragons, malevolent mermaids, and a maze full of potentially fatal tricks and traps. But even between the challenges themselves is plenty of riveting drama, especially with Rita Skeeter , Mad-Eye Moody , and Hermiones most recent social justice cause . And as anyone whos read it will know, the GoF finale is unprecedented in terms of dark, difficult material, signaling a definitive shift for the series in a more mature direction.

So What’s The Recommended Reading Order

Fortunately, Harry Potter isn’t one of those series like Star Wars has a sprawling number of canon novels, film novelizations, reference books, and comics to read. Instead, it’s a finite universe which makes catching up on it much easier. We recommend reading the main series chronologically so that you can see Harry and his friends grow up. Then if you’re still thirsting for more of the Wizarding World you can see where your interests most strongly lie , and start again there.

If you still havent read Harry Potter, just know that its never too late to start and even for those who have, youre never too old to go back and relive the magic.

Moody’s eye

After being separated, Harry discovers Alastor’s magical eye has been taken by Umbridge. Thinking it a disgrace to Alastor’s memory to keep it stuck in Umbridge’s door, he steals the eye, so as to give it a proper burial and the respect it deserves. Once Harry reunites with Hermione, he witnesses the Muggle-Born Registration Commission, set up to convict Muggle-borns of “stealing” magic, at work. Enraged by what he sees, Harry stuns Umbridge and the Death Eater Corban Yaxley, who is now head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Hermione takes the Horcrux, which Umbridge had falsely used to bolster her Pure-blood credentials, from Umbridge. By the time Harry and Hermione begin freeing the Muggle-borns, the Ministry knows that there are intruders in the building, having discovered Alastor’s eye missing. Once they reunite with Ron, they encourage the Muggle-borns to flee the country.

The Seven Potters

Soon after, the Order of the Phoenix arrives with a plan to sneak Harry away from his house and avoid being captured by Voldemort. After initially opposing the plan, Harry acquiesces, seeing that he has no choice, and Ron, Fred, and GeorgeWeasley, along with Hermione Granger, Fleur Delacour, and Mundungus Fletcher, take Polyjuice Potion to make themselves look like Harry, in order to act as decoys for Voldemort. Each depart with a different Order member to protect them while riding on broomsticks or Thestrals, while Harry leaves with Rubeus Hagrid in a side-car attached to Sirius Black‘s motorcycle. However, the plan goes badly wrong as the group is attacked by Death Eaters almost immediately after taking off, during which Hedwig is killed. Harry fights off Death Eaters by firing curses and hexes at them, while Rubeus uses a number of gadgets the motorcycle is now equipped with: a deployable solid brick wall, a net, and a dragon-fire booster.

The survivors at the Burrow

Harry finds that Hagrid has crashed in the garden and he is able to get out a simple “Hagrid?” before he too collapses.

He Still Had Nightmares About Voldemort

Sending a child off to school can be a stressful time for any parent. While Harry loved his time at Hogwarts, he was also forced to grow up much faster than most kids because of his conflict with Lord Voldemort.

Coming face-to-face with the man who ended his parents had to be tough enough, but Voldemort was also able to read Harrys mind and even possess him.

Because of their history, its not surprising that Harry would have nightmares about Voldemort even after he defeated him. This is elaborated upon in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child when Harry begins to worry that Voldemort may be returning.

Voldemort possibly could have returned if Delphi had her way, but thankfully Voldemort only remains in Harrys dreams.

Harry Obtained A More Powerful Time Turner

The magical object called a time turner was revealed in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

A time turner was given to Hermione in her third year so that she could attend more classes, but she likely never went back in time for more than a day at a time.

In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Harry receives a more powerful time turner from Theodore Nott, which allows its user to time-travel several years in the past and even change history.

It is eventually revealed that this time-turner is actually only a prototype and that Draco Malfoy has the finished model in his possession, which was supposed to be given to his father.

Scrimgeour giving his speech

  • A scene is added at the beginning of the film, where Minister for MagicRufus Scrimgeour gives a speech assuring that the Ministry will “remain strong” and take action against the Dark side.
  • The scenes of the film were not chronologically arranged, the Dursleys left before the meeting at Malfoy Manor in the film, however, in the book, it should be “The Dark Lord Ascending” then “The Dursleys Departing”.
  • A scene is added showing Hermione modifying her parents’ memories and leaving, which was only stated in the book and not actually shown. In the film, instead of modifyingher parents‘ memories to make them think they did not have a daughter, Hermione uses Obliviate, a more permanent spell. This is shown making her disappear from the family’s photos, though it is possible she only used the spell on the photos and modified her parents’ memories differently. There is no mention of restoring their memories later, though it can be assumed she had.
