Who Plays Ginny In Harry Potter

Don't Miss

How Old Is Harry Potter

Bonnie Wright – Ginny Weasley – Harry Potter

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone Harry Potter was eleven years old. When we say this it also applies to his school colleagues from his year, since most of the first years are eleven when they start school.

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, he and his friends are twelve. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, they are thirteen, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire fourteen, in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix fifteen, in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince sixteen, and finally, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, they are seventeen years old.

Most fans know that Harry Potter and J. Rolling have the same birthday and that the famous date is July 31, but the author has also revealed the birthdays of many other characters over the years. Lord Voldemort made his first attempt to disprove the prophecy when Harry was one year and three months old.

In this attempt, he kills Harrys parents while Harrys parents are trying to defend him, and this attempt to kill Harry resulted in Voldemorts first Horcrux that was the accidental one.

This event marked the end of the First Wizarding War, and Harry became known as the The boy who lived because he was the only survivor of this deadly curse. On his 11th birthday, Harry finds out he is a wizard because Rubeus Hagrid appears with a birthday cake and tells him about his family. This is one of our favorite scenes!

Before She Played Ginny Weasley In Harry Potter She Was Just A ‘very Curious’ Kid

Bonnie Wright’s real-life upbringing wasn’t exactly parallel to Ginny Weasley’s in the Harry Potter movies. For one, she grew up in urban London, whereas the Weasley clan lived in the Burrow. And while Ginny Weasley has a bunch of brothers, Wright only has one in real life. But despite the difference of their families’ sizes, Wright can still relate to the Weasley brood. “I think I came from a family much like them not massively materialistic, just a comfortable, warm home,” she shared in Interview magazine. Plus, she noted that her family has no shortage of humor, which is another big similarity between the two clans.

As far as Wright’s childhood interests go, she felt pulled toward storytelling in its many forms right out of the gate long before she became an actress. ” desire to tell a story was something I loved as a kid. Recounting things, or putting on little performances,” she mused in an interview with The S Life Mag. “I was a very curious child.” So, it only makes sense that Wright found her home in the entertainment industry, where she’s able to put that creativity to work every day.

Kate Winslet As The Ghostly Helena Ravenclaw

There have been a few rumors that the producers for the Harry Potter movies approached Kate Winslet for a role in the franchise. This part was seemingly Helena Ravenclaw, who holds the key to finding the legendary diadem that is also one of Voldemorts Horcruxes. She would have brought grace to the part and accurately portrayed her beauty from the books.

Movie Ginny And Harry Are Awkward Book Ginny And Harry Seem To Fit Together

What Happened To The Girl Who Played Ginny In Harry Potter?

Film Harry + Film Ginny = Zero Chemistry. Or maybe it’s more fair to say Daniel Radcliffe + Bonnie Wright = Zero Chemistry. Every scene between the pair, especially in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and both Deathly Hallows movies, when they have started dating, is so darn awkward. The shoelace-tying moment, and a scene where Ginny feeds Harry during a Christmas celebration at the Burrow, are particularly cringe-worthy. The few kisses they share are almost unwatchable.

Sometimes actors just don’t connect on screen romantically, and when casting the first film, the filmmakers didn’t know Harry and Ginny would end up together. But in the books, they seem to naturally belong together. Because the films don’t fully cover their relationship the way the books do, moviegoers don’t get to see them teaming up to play Quidditch at the Burrow, or spending time together comfortably at Hogwarts, studying, talking, and laughing.

The film doesn’t portray the long conversation they have when Harry and Ginny discuss why he has to break up with her, to keep her safe. And in the film version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, viewers don’t learn that one of Harry’s last thoughts before Voldemort attempts to slay him in the forest is of Ginny:

None of the Death Eaters moved. They were waiting… and Harry thought inexplicably of Ginny, and her blazing look, and the feel of her lips on his – Voldemort had raised his wand.

A Lot Of Pressure In First Titular Role

After many auditions for many projects, Lynch finally landed the major lead part in a film! She starred in the titular role in the independent Irish film My Name Is Emily in 2015, directed by the late Simon Fitzmaurice. It was a good fit, too, as Lynch really empathized with the character. It was such a great part. Ive not had that many parts where you read it and it feels like theyre words that would come out of your mouth, she revealed to Interview magazine. Its just so natural.

There was special pressure to perform, too, as the films director was diagnosed with ALS in 2008, and is completely paralyzed. So he wrote and directed the entire film with his eyes, using iris recognition software to communicate an intense accomplishment. I very much had a sense of I cannot mess this up, I cant blow this. I have to give it my all every day,’ she shared in an interview with Bust magazine.

She added that working with Fitzmaurice gave her confidence, as he could not respond speedily only after the fact, in writing. So she really grew on set.

After all that time on the Harry Potter sets as Ginny Weasley, learning as she went, Bonnie Wright decided to officially take the next step in building and expanding her film education. Free from the Harry Potter franchise, she was able to chase her creative ambitions and enroll in college. “I’m studying film and television in London,” she revealed to Interview magazine in 2011. “I kind of went towards that: the idea of writing, storytelling, all the different things that go behind film.” After being on that set, who wouldn’t want to learn how to make movies?

Even though she obviously learned a lot while filming Harry Potter certainly a lot more than your average Jane could know school remained a longtime goal for her. “I always wanted to go to art school, and it’s one of the big art schools of London,” she continued. “So that was a dream that I completed.” Good for you, girl!
