Harry Potter fans, aka Potterheads, have enjoyed seven incredible books & movies over the years not including the prequel film series Fantastic Beasts. The imagination of J.K. Rowling is undeniable with the whimsical stories of Harry Potters adventures existing as proof.
When The Cursed Child became a popular stage play followed by the popular video game Hogwarts Legacy being released, Potterheads had even more to hold onto. It appears as though there wont just be one new Harry Potter movie or TV show either . . . Its looking like there will be at least three TV projects.
According to We Got This Covered, three separate TV Shows are currently in development even though the bulk of their details, like the Southfreak movie, are still completely under wraps. This is what we know so far.
New movie or TV show about Hermione
The character of Hermione Granger is played by the stunningly beautiful Emma Watson. She took on the role at a very young age and fans watched her grow up in front of the cameras into a lovely adult whos landed other serious roles outside of the Harry Potter franchise. Some of her other movies include The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Bling Ring, The Circle, and Disneys Beauty and the Beast.

Would The Harry Potter Cast Return
While recasting the beloved original cast of the Harry Potter franchise would prove a challenging endeavor, the studio might have to for story continuity. The characters are considerably older in the play Harry, Ron and Hermione are in their late 30s when the play takes place. The original three actors of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint are all in their early 30s, still a bit too young to convincingly be just a stone’s throw away from 40. However, should the studio decide to adapt Harry Potter and the Cursed Child sometime in the future, they need only wait a few years for their original trio to fit the roles.
Another thing to consider is how Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally cast, which had caused inevitable controversy back in 2016: Hermione Grangers role was cast with a Black actress, which Rowling defended by saying that Hermiones skin color had never been described in detail in the novels. Perhaps Rowling was asserting that anyone could play Hermione so long as she embodied the essence of the character, but if the studio decides to recast the main trio, they should lean into fully recasting every role.

A few months have passed since the events of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Gellert Grindelwald has escaped imprisonment and has begun gathering followers to his cause elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The film was announced in March 2014 as the second instalment in the series. In October 2016, it was revealed that Yates and Rowling would return as director, and screenwriter and co-producer, and Redmayne would be returning to play the lead role of Newt Scamander in all the series’ films. In November 2016, it was confirmed that Johnny Depp will have a starring role in the sequel, reprising his role as Gellert Grindelwald from the first instalment. Later that same month it was also announced that Albus Dumbledore would be appearing in future instalments, albeit with a younger actor for the prequel film series. In April 2017, it was confirmed that Jude Law had been cast as Dumbledore. The film takes place in New York City, Britain, and Paris. Principal photography began on 3 July 2017, at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, and wrapped on 20 December 2017.Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald was released on 16 November 2018.
Why Is Jk Rowling Not In The Reunion Special
Those hoping JK Rowling will be appearing in the reunion may be disappointed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the author will only be seen through archival footage, and will not make an appearance herself in the special.
Rowling made controversial remarks on transgender issues last year. It is not clear whether those remarks are related to her absence.

Harry Potter Hbo Max Series
In addition to Fantastic Beasts 3 there is reportedly another Harry Potter project in the works, instead of taking a theatrical route, this one — if it actually pans out — will be coming to HBO Max in the form of a television series. In January 2021, The Hollywood Reporter released a report stating that very early discussions were happening for a live-action series set within the Harry Potter universe, but there has been no word as to what the story will be about or even a confirmation from Warner Bros, who has denied that any Harry Potter TV show is currently in development at the studio or HBO Max

Leavesden Film Studios in London made several scenes for Hogwarts. Principal photography concluded in the summer of 2002. The film spent until early October in post-production. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets premiered in the United Kingdom on 3 November 2002 before its wide release on 15 November, one year after the Philosopher’s Stone.

The streaming rights to Potter seem to be constantly in flux, given the high demand for them. As of right now, both HBO Max and Peacock have of the movies, which is why you’ll find them on both platforms even though they are offspring of Warner Bros., which is owned by WarnerMedia, which owns HBO Max.
That’s because, years before the launch of the bounty of streaming services we know today, WarnerMedia leased some of the streaming and TV rights to Harry Potter through 2025. The movies arrived on Peacock as of October 2020, disappeared for a bit, and then re-apparated in 2021 as part of NBCUniversal’s deal to stream them during “windows.”

Will Harry Potter & The Cursed Child Movie Happen
Jack Thornes two-part play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premiered on 30 July 2016, at Palace Theatre, London. The Cursed Child is set nineteen years after the events of The Deathly Hallows and follows Harry, who is now Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at The Ministry of Magic. Whether The Cursed Child will actually be adapted into a movie has not been confirmed either by Warner Bros. or Rowling herself, there is no sure-shot way to know if the movie will be released, if ever. However, this adaptation is not entirely out of the question, as director Chris Columbus, director of Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone, wishes to bring back the original trio for this fantasy project. If this were to materialize, it would be yet another reason for those wishing for another installment in the Harry Potter franchise to rejoice, given the volume of content scheduled to be released.

Could Harry Potter & The Cursed Child Happen
While JK Rowling and Warner Bros. have both denied that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child would ever be adapted for the big screen in the past, Kilar’s remarks rekindled old rumors. There are, however, a great many avenues a future Potter project could take, including a series about the Marauders or Harry’s career as an Auror. Adapting the play to the big screen would open the content to Potterheads who weren’t able to see the play, but taking into account that the play is shown in two parts because of its length, many argue that a movie version of Harry Potter in the Cursed Child wouldn’t really work and might it be better adapted in a TV show format. It so happens that the studio has announced a call for writers for a potential spinoff show set in the world of Harry Potter.
