Weekend Predictions: Moana Takes On Beast Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Daily Box Office: Ralph Slips But Is Still Thankful
Yesterday was Thanksgiving and some studios were closed for the day, but we have a full list of box office numbers today. Ralph Breaks the Internet continued to lead the way at the box office with $10.3 million on Thursday for a two-day total of $28.8 million. The film is still well above Coco and Moanas two-day pace, but it fell 44% from its Wednesday debut, which is a sharper decline than either of those two films suffered. It is on pace to dominate the five-day weekend with $85 million, which is below yesterdays pace and below Frozens record-setting wide expansion, but I cant imagine there are many people at Disney that are disappointed with this result. The films reviews and its A minus from CinemaScore, plus its family friendly target audience should help it last in theaters till the new year and it should be profitable enough that the studio will want to turn the franchise into a trilogy. Weekend Estimates: Man Of Steel Posts Biggest June Weekend
2013 has been a nervous time for Warner Bros.. After six straight years as the number one or number two domestic distributor, the studio’s main franchise breadwinners, Batman, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and The Hangover are all coming to an end or already played out. They are running in third place for the year to date, and badly need a new money spinner if they are to avoid lean times in 2015 and beyond. Home Market Releases For March 12th 2019
Its not a good week on the home market. There are some big releases, like Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but none of them are good. There are a couple of contenders for Pick of the Week, but the The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends: The Complete Series DVD is a re-release at a more reasonable price, while it is worth waiting to get the The Miseducation of Cameron Post: Special Edition Blu-ray. In the end, I went with a late screener, The Forbidden Photos Of A Lady Above Suspicion: Collectors Edition Blu-ray. It is definitely the best bet for fans of Giallo and / or Film Noir. More…

International Box Office: Fantastic Has A Beast Of An Opening With $1433 Million
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opened in first place on the international chart with $143.3 million in 63 markets. The film had the biggest opening of the Harry Potter franchise in 16 of those 63 markets, but ironically not in the U.K., where it had its biggest opening. The film debuted in first place there with $18.90 million in 666 theaters. This is the third best in the franchise behind the two DeathlyHallows films. Some of the markets where Fantastic Beasts set the franchise record include South Korea, where it made $10.64 million on 1,431 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $14.15 million. Needing him for an important reason, Headmaster Dumbledore persuades his old friend Horace Slughorn to return to his prior post at Hogwarts. During Slughorn’s Potions class, Harry takes possession of a strangely annotated school textbook, previously owned by the “Half-Blood Prince”.
In July 2007, it was announced that Yates would return as director. Kloves returned to write the screenplay after skipping out of the fifth film, with Heyman and David Barron back as producers. Watson considered not returning for the film, but eventually signed on after Warner Bros. moved the production schedule to accommodate her exam dates. Principal photography began on 24 September 2007, and concluded on 17 May 2008. Though Radcliffe, Gambon and Jim Broadbent started shooting in late September 2007, other cast members started much later: Watson did not begin until December 2007, Alan Rickman until January 2008, and Bonham Carter until February 2008.Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince had its world premiere on 6 July 2009 in Tokyo, Japan, and was released in the United Kingdom and the United States on 15 July.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is doing everything Warner Bros. could have wished for this weekend, posting a lively $75 million opening in the US, hitting $143.3 million internationally for a global opening over $200 million, and getting a A CinemaScore that should give it positive word of mouth going into Thanksgiving. For a franchise reboot, thats a lot of reasons to be happy, although its opening is well below the openings enjoyed by the original Harry Potter franchise. When Will Fantastic Beasts 3 Be Released
Fantastic Beasts 3 will be released in the United Kingdom on April 8, 2022, with a US release date a week later, on April 15, 2022.
The film was originally set for release in November 2021, but the pandemic caused delays to filming which pushed back the release date.
Johnny Depp‘s resignation led to Warner Bros initially pushing the launch back even further, to July 2022, but they have since brought it forward to April 2022.

The play will also be making waves in Asia for the first time, as the stage-play prepares to open in Tokyo, Japan! And thats not all – in May, a new production will also premiere at the Ed Mirvish theatre in Toronto.
The play continues in the original two-part format in London and Hamburg. To thwart Grindelwalds plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander , who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers ahead.

Warner Bros is showing no sign in stopping its development of the Wizarding World, so now we need to consider how this TV series fits into the overall narrative.
It could be a complete reboot of the movies, set for seven series, with one book told over one series. In our opinion, this is the less likely choice, as the movies have proven such a popular hit, and remaking them all wouldnt flesh out the universe any further.
What could be a likely option is exploring something such as The Marauders. If youre not aware, this is the name of a group that is made up of James Potter , Sirius Black , Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew .
The Marauders went to Hogwarts at the same time as Lily Evans and Severus Snape. There, the group went on many adventures, including learning to turn themselves into animagi to help Lupin with his lycanthropy problem.
After the four finished their studies, they went on to fight the uprising of Lord Voldemort which resulted in creating The Boy Who Lived, AKA, Harry Potter.
Fans of Harry Potter have been requesting an adaptation of The Marauders for a very long time, so we think this is the most likely option.
Alternatively, it could be an on-screen adaptation of The Cursed Child, the stage play set within the Harry Potter universe following the offspring of the main characters. Or it could even be set earlier, somehow tying into Fantastic Beasts or the upcoming game, Hogwarts Legacy.
