What Did The Prophecy Say
Before Harry was born, Dumbledore was in search of a Divination teacher. Professor Trelawney was just being interviewed when Dumbledore concluded she was not the person for the job. As he got up to leave, she spoke in a different voice:
The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
This could have been any child born at that time to parents who already fought Voldemort. But how did he find out about the prophecy? Well, at the time, Severus Snape was still working for Voldemort. He heard the part of the prophecy and went rushing to Voldemort to tell him about the boy.
Neville Longbottom was a boy born on July 30th to parents who were Aurors and, just like Harrys parents, defied him three times directly. Voldemort knew there were two boys who were his possible targets but somehow chose his enemy to be Harry.
Like Voldemort, Harry was a half-blood. Voldemort saw parts of him in Harry that he hated which is one of the reasons he wanted to eradicate half-bloods and create and honor the pure-breeds.
Why Does Voldemort Have No Nose
Voldemort does not have a nose because his physical appearance changed due to him delving deeper and deeper into the dark magic. That made his face more serpentine and his nose changed into two snakelike slits. … Some theories say he lost his body, experimenting with dark magic. Hence, he created his own body.
Knowing That Someone From Her Class Would Leave Forever
We would win the Understatement of the Year award by suggesting that Hermione didnt quite like Divination. The biggest bookworm in Hogwarts denounced the subject as woolly and a lot of guesswork, so it wasnt terribly surprisingly when Hermione decided shed had enough of pulling apart Professor Trelawneys predictions and packed the lesson in.
Ironically, this actually fulfilled Trelawneys earlier prediction where she foretold that one of our number will leave forever. Cosmic! Or maybe she could just sense Hermione didnt like her.

The Fate Of Lavenders Pet Rabbit
Lavender Brown, along with Padma and Parvati Patil, were huge Divination devotees and hung on to Professor Trelawneys every word like it was gospel. So when Lavender was warned that the thing she had been dreading would take place on Friday the sixteenth of October, she took it very, very seriously. Spookily, Lavender received a letter on that very day informing her that her rabbit had been killed by a fox.
Technically, had Lavender really been dreading the death of the little guy? Whether or not the wording was quite correct, the date was sound enough.
Why Is Snape The Half
His father was a muggle. His father was neglectful and sometimes abusive, which may have contributed to Snapes disdain for Muggles. At some point during his school years, he decided to reject his fathers name entirely, giving himself the moniker The Half-Blood Prince with his mothers maiden name instead.

When She Predicted The Rebirth Of Voldemort
Its a real shame for Trelawney that, on the rare occasions she predicted a hugely important prophecy, she promptly forgot all about it and went back to seeing Grims in teacups.
Harrys Divination exam was a classic example. Much to his concern, his teacher went into a strange fugue and foretold that the servant would set out to rejoin his master, and the Dark Lord would rise, greater and more terrible than ever before.
It may have sounded pretty grandiose and unbelievable, and even Trelawney herself dismissed it as far-fetched but she had, in fact, done it again. Peter Pettigrew did indeed reunite with Voldemort, and assisted him in his rebirth, where he used Harrys blood to restore the Dark wizard to power.
When it came to Lord Voldemort, Trelawneys inner eye always had him covered.
Why Did Tom Riddle Kill Moaning Myrtle
The diary dates back to when Voldemort was still Tom Marvolo Riddle. After opening the Chamber of Secrets, he used the Basilisk to kill Myrtle Warren, providing the murder necessary to craft a Horcrux. Voldemort entrusted his diary to Lucius Malfoy, who later seized the opportunity to smuggle it back into Hogwarts.

What If Voldemort Chose Neville
If Neville Had Been The Chosen One, he would have made Herbology as cool as Quidditch. … If Neville Had Been The Chosen One, he still would have defeated Voldemort in his first and second year at Hogwarts because getting through all of that pretty much came down to blind luck and Hermione’s logic for Harry.

Harry Potter’s Prophecy And Choices
Most fantasy stories foretell a hero that will bring balance to a troubled world centuries or decades before they appear. However, Harry Potter’s story begins and ends with the character. When Voldemort’s uprising found its way to Lily and James Potter’s house, the Dark Lord killed Harry’s parents, but when Voldemort tried to kill him, he was unable to. This left Harry with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead and the moniker of “The Boy Who Lived.” Nevertheless, it was believed he would be the one who would ultimately defeat Voldemort.
As Harry got older and attended Hogwarts, he showed great promise in his magical skills and developed a close network of friends that supported and believed in him. Because of these friends and the magical gifts left by his parents, Harry had the internal strength to face Voldemort. However, it was his cleverness and selfless love for those closest to him that helped him survive Voldemort’s killing curse, thus ultimately defeating the Dark Lord all before he graduated..
When She Mentioned A Lightning
When Harry overheard Professor Trelawney muttering to herself and shuffling her cards, he didnt think much of it. But pay attention to her seemingly pointless ramblings, as they seem to be distressingly accurate. Professor Trelawney was agitated because Dumbledore wouldnt heed her warnings of approaching doom.
She repeatedly saw the lightning-struck tower. Calamity. Disaster. Coming nearer all the time.
Alone, these utterances dont hold much significance… but when Dumbledore was hit by the Killing Curse at the top of the Astronomy Tower mere hours later, everything suddenly slotted together.

Voldemort greatly desired to hear the full prophecy, believing it would give him the information to avoid his fate and destroy Harry, but the only people who could retrieve the prophecy record from the Hall of Prophecy in the Ministry of Magic‘s Department of Mysteries were either Harry or Voldemort himself .

Harry Potter Is A Better Chosen One Than Anakin Skywalker
There’s no doubt that Anakin’s fulfillment of the prophecy saved many more people than Harry Potter’s, but it came after three decades of death and destruction, including the eradication of an entire planet. Almost all of these acts were done by Vader, but the whole rise of the Empire couldn’t have been done without him.
On the other hand, Harry only took close to three years following Voldemort’s return to defeat him and fulfill his prophecy. In that timeframe, there were casualties, but nothing compared to Anakin’s. It’s also important to note that Harry never compromised his morals to do the right thing and even focused on disarming opponents rather than fighting them head-on. When taking their actions and the results into account, it’s clear that Harry is the most efficient chosen one next to Anakin Skywalker.
What Was The Prophecy Voldemort Want
He wanted the prophecy so that he could know fully what it said, in case it held any information that would have helped him. He was aware he had only heard part of the details, and given the defeat by Baby-Harry, was keen to know the rest in case it gave him a clue how to avoid a repeat of that outcome.

Mars Is Bright Tonight
In Philosophers Stone, Harry comes across several centaurs for the first time. And whenever Hagrid tries asking the centaurs if theyve seen anything unusual, they reply with Mars is bright tonight. This is one of the first prophecies that we come across in the series, and the meaning is quite plain: Mars is the Roman god of war. War is coming. And, as we all know, it did.
There Are A Number Of Ways In Which The Prophecy Could Be Interpreted To Have Been Completed
“The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches … born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies … and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not … and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives … the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies …” Prophecy made to Albus Dumbledore by Sybill Trelawney
The most obvious way this clause could be fulfilled would be for Harry to kill Voldemort.Arguably, this did not happen, as the killing curse that ended Voldemort’s life was cast by Voldemort himself.
Just as arguably, it did happen. Voldemort died because Harry chose to challenge him and put his will into ‘reclaiming’ the Elder Wand, which is why the wand refused to kill him and rebounded.
It’s like tying someone to the train tracks and then claiming that you didn’t kill them. Technically, the train killed them. But you’re still going to be tried for murder, and you’re still fulfilling the prophecy.
The prophecy doesn’t say that Harry has to kill Voldemort. One of them has to kill the other. The prophecy could just as easily be fulfilled if Voldemort killed Harry. Hm… What happened back in the Forbidden Forest? True, Harry came back, but it could still be argued that Voldemort killed him.
As Voldemort didn’t die by Harry’s hand, that didn’t happen.

Dumbledore Rigged That Big Battle In ‘order Of The Phoenix’
Albus Dumbledore has always been more devious than he seems, but a new fan theory suggests that the catastrophic battle at the end of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix happened because Dumbledore wanted it that way.
Recall that throughout Order of the Phoenix, the Order â which Dumbledore helms â has a mission to guard the door at the Department of Mysteries in the Ministry of Magic. As Harry later learns, it leads to the Prophecy Room holding the prophecy about Harry and Voldemortâs relationship.
Guarding this door is a dangerous job, as order member Sturgis Podmore gets an Azkaban sentence in the line of duty and Arthur Weasley nearly gets killed by Voldemortâs snake, Nagini. Itâs only thanks to Harryâs dreams, which give him a window into Voldemortâs mind, that Arthur is saved in time.
But did anyone stop to consider why the Order put so much time and energy into guarding a prophecy that Dumbledore knew Voldemort had already heard most of? A prophecy Dumbledore convinced Harry still didnât set the future in stone? One Reddit user proposed that, to Dumbledore, making a big deal over the door was the real plan.
The plan went perfectly too. The ministry is no longer able to stick its head in the sand and deny Voldemortâs return after the battle. But other than Sirius Black dying, everything in the battle worked out enormously in Dumbledoreâs favor.

It Would Not Be Too Presumptuous Therefore If We Were To Assume That There Will Be An End Battle
Firstly, we should note that Harry, being the one, has the power to vanquish the Dark Lord. Vanquish is a term meaning to defeat or conquer in battle. It would not be too presumptuous therefore, if we were to assume that there will be an end battle, in which one of either Harry or Voldemort will be victorious. The term vanquish however does not necessarily mean kill. It can also mean to overcome and subdue. This could probably suggest the way in which Harry would kill Voldemort. Although this would require an entirely separate analysis of its own, many, including I, believe that love is what will kill Voldemort. We have seen love in the Ministry of Magic, behind a door in the Department of Mysteries, which cannot be opened. When Voldemort possessed Harry during his duel with Dumbledore, it was the love and emotion inside Harry at the thought of Sirius which Voldemort could not stand. It is also love which prevented Harry being killed by Voldemort in the first place, in the way his mother died to save him. It would be useful to note here that Voldemort can now touch Harry despite this sacrifice. This too, is not without its mysteries:
