Borrow From The Overdrive/libby Apps

Using Overdrive or Libby to get Harry Potter audiobooks free is one of my favorite methods on this list, so I definitely recommend it! These two apps allow you to download a variety of audiobooks and ebooks on your phone, computer, etc. at no cost. The only catchyou need to have a library card.

Both Overdrive and Libby work by syncing with your local library, so once youve entered your card number you can access all the online listings available at your library. This is awesome as you can download a Harry Potter audiobook online free instead of having to go to your local library!

However, like borrowing a physical copy of the audiobook from your local library, downloading a copy from Overdrive or Libby also requires you to wait your turn. Libraries only have so many electronic copies that they can lend out at one time, so you may have to join a holds list in order to get free audio Harry Potter books. The time it will take to get your copy simply depends on how many people from your library are also waiting for the audiobook youve selected, and whether they opt to return it early or not.

The First Harry Potter Audiobook Voiced By Stephen Fry Is Now Free To Stream

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, which was released as Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone in the US, is now free to stream on Audible. Its part of a series of initiatives launched by JK Rowling and friends to keep everyone entertained while theyre cooped up at home. Better yet, its the version narrated by Stephen Fry, which has previously been difficult to legally access in the US.

As well as making the audiobook available, the series publishers are also temporarily relaxing licencing restrictions to allow teachers to read the books to their students in remote video lessons.

There are big debates about whether Stephen Frys or Jim Dales rendition of the audiobooks are better, but as a Brit who grew up listening to Frys version its always been the obvious choice for me. If youre an American whos never heard it then Id recommend you giving it a go even if, as TechCrunch notes, you might have a difficult job getting your hands on his recordings of the rest of the books.

As well as Frys English version, the free audiobook is also available in Spanish, French, Italian, German and Japanese.

Great question, Kathleen, and one I really wish I had an easy answer to. The site you refer to is akin to the HPAudioBooks.club website, the first thing to pop up in a google search for Harry Potter Stephen Fry. It offers you the audiobooks read by Fry for free in exchange for access to your computers inner workings and all your data. Some deal!

It used to be that you couldnt buy the Fry recordings in the United States because Bloomsbury did not have publishing rights here, Scholastic did , and Scholastic published the Jim Dale recordings. This agreement held over into the Audible versions available via Pottermore. End of story unless you purchased the Fry books through Amazon.co.uk as CDs and paid the trans-atlantic shipping fee . Which was tough for families that routinely listen to Dale while driving on long trips or fans who work out while tuned in to Harrys adventures.

The Harry Potter series features a boy with the same name as the main character. We see him go from being an abused orphan to saving the entire European wizarding community in a book that spans over seven years. The series of books by J.K.
