Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will be released on HBO Max on New Years Day 2022.
In exciting news, the reunion special will be available to watch in the UK on the same day, with Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts becoming available to watch on Sky Max and streaming service NOW from 1st January 2022.
It comes in the wake of the reunion special for the Friends cast, which was also released on HBO Max earlier this year.

Sky and NOW will also air Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses on 29th December 2021, which will see Wizarding World fans have their Harry Potter knowledge put to the test as they fight to be named House Cup Champion.
In addition to its release on 1st January 2021, the reunion special will also air in the US on TBS and Cartoon Network in spring 2022 in the run-up to the theatrical release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
A press release confirming the special revealed that it will “tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time”.
Alongside actors, Radcliffe, Watson and Grint, the director of the first two films, Chris Columbus, will also join the TV special to honour the magic behind the making of the films and the beautiful family created at Warner Bros Studios London two decades ago”.

The pic shows leading cast members Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint sat together having a chat – and they look to be inside none other than Hogwarts itself.

How Long Ago Did Harrypotter End
The seventh and final Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,was published in July 2007. The story was split into two parts for the last installment of the film franchise, with the final flick premiering in July 2011.
Its been such an extraordinary experience to work with, essentially, the same group of people for 10 years, Radcliffe told LarryKing in 2011 before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 hit theaters. You develop such close bonds with so many people that itit feels odd thatthough those bonds will still exist into the future, it feels very, very strange to not be going back to work with them next year.

The Harry Potter reunion release date is just around the corner as confirmed by the trailer, which specified Streaming 1 January so we know how we’ll be spending the first day of 2022.
While it was originally hoped the release might come at the end of this year , New Year’s Day is also not too long to wait.

When Is Harry Potter: Return To Hogwarts On Hbo Max
The special Return to Hogwarts, is set for release in the US on 1 January 2022, where it will air on HBO Max.
There will also be a first look of the special during the premiere of quiz competition show Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses which is airing on 28 November on TBS and Cartoon Network, hosted by Helen Mirren.
Do We Have A Trailer For The Harry Potter Reunion
In November 2021, HBO dropped the first teaser trailer for the reunion featuring clips from across the series, and it’s taking us right back to 2002.
A second trailer was dropped on 6th December, giving a glimpse into who and what to expect from the Reunion, as well as a release date.
The description read, “The invitation you’ve been waiting for has arrived. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts is coming to HBO Max on New Year’s Day.”
On 20 December 2021, we got our first proper look at Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint reminiscing about the Harry Potter movie, while at the Warner Bros. tours. “It feels like no time has passed, and loads of time has passed,” Watson says.
“This is the perfect time to sit down with everyone and reminisce,” Grint adds.

We can see cast members interact in the special and there are also interviews with some of our favourites.

The special is set to be released on 1 January 2022 on HBO Max in the US so viewers can spend their New Year’s Day engrossed in the wizarding world once again. All eight films are also available to stream on the platform, meaning fans can binge these afterwards if they feel like it!
Daniel, Rupert and Emma will reunite on-screen together for the first time
As of yet, there’s been no confirmation which streaming service or broadcaster will make the reunion available to watch in the UK. However, many HBO shows – including the recent Friends reunion – aired on Sky and its streaming service NOW meaning it’s a likely contender to air the special. HELLO! has reached out to representatives at NOW for comment.
What Will Be The Plot Of The Harry Potter Reunion
The first trailer was posted on by Emma Watson who rose to fame in her role as bookish Hermione at the age of just eleven to her bountiful 61.5 million followers on the platform.

Had to break out the Time-Turner one last time for this one”, she captioned it a reference of course to the time-travelling device her character Hermione uses in the films to navigate her timetable clashes at Hogwarts. In this context, however, its a sweet reference to the sheer nostalgia we’ll be feeling as we see the cast all together again, 20 years on!
The trailer didn’t give much away as to the format of the anniversary special which was based around footage from the original film.

It’s likely the organisers might choose to take inspiration from the format of the Friends reunion, which became Sky One’s most watched show of all time when it aired last June.
The six cast members reunited in front of a live audience on the show’s original soundstage Stage 24, in the Hollywood Warner Bros Studio.
They appeared together with a whole host of special guests marking the first time they had been on screen together since the 17 years since the much-loved comedy programme finished.
