Half-Blood Prince made up for this by having the series’ largest and best-looking Hogwarts to explore. Furthermore, the game featured an incredible soundtrack, making use of the iconic music that accompanied the films. Something that was unfortunately overlooked in the other games.
Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
The developers were in an uphill battle with Order of the Phoenix from the offset, as the corresponding film focused less on the action and more on the characters and politics in the wizarding world. Instead of opting for a Telltale style game, developer’s EA UK worked around this by focusing on the recruitment of Dumbledores Army.
Order of the Phoenix also saw a fundamental change in the game’s mechanics, using the joystick to control Harry’s wand wielding hand, which replaced the simplicity of pressing a spell-assigned button. The change in gameplay seemed to be geared towards the Nintendo Wii release, which replaced the joystick with motion controls. Although fiddly at times, the joystick implementation added to the immersion and made the gameplay richer as a result.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is the last game on our list of Harry Potter PC games. The developers did try to change a few things after a critical panning for Part 1. Some side-missions were removed to focus on the gameplay, but I was all for it. I thoroughly enjoyed Professor Minerva fighting the trolls. The apparition was also introduced that allowed players to teleport in and out of the massive battle scenes. Many acknowledged the change made to the gameplay.

I bought the game again and was about to play with a friend, but we do not get multiplayer enabled.
Your controller is paired with my switch and it could also be selected in the main menu but as soon as it comes into play pump is on.
I can switch between Harry and Hagrid. And under the image of Hagrid is “press any key”. She can push whatever she wants, but nothing happens.
How many controllers are currently connected to your switch?
In the main menu you can change your controller to controller one and your controller to controller 2 under controller. If controller 2 is now your joy con and she is controller 3 she can’t play along
One of you pressed the plus then you go to Options and then Show Game Control and then flatter to Right. Hope I could help.
As far as we were already. But there’s only displayed what you can theoretically press, not how to adjust, that 2 people play and not just one

Unlike most of the Harry Potter releases which focus on spell casting action, Sorcerer’s Stone is predominantly a platformer spellcasting does feature, though much of it is reduced to situational rhythm-based mini-games.
Despite Hogwarts not being as vast as in other releases, developers still offered players the chance to free-roam the castle, which is commendable given the PS1’s limitations. These limitations are evident with the character models, though, with their distorted faces frequently being turned into memes in recent years. PS1 Hagrid, anyone?
Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
From a game all about Quidditch to one with none whatsoever. EA presumably decided to leave Quidditch out of the game as they didn’t want to hurt sales of Quidditch World Cup. In a first for the movie tie-in games, players were able to control both Ron and Hermione, giving the basic action-adventure gameplay that Chamber of Secrets introduced some welcome variety.
Prisoner of Azkaban predominantly focused on taking classes, which gameplay-wise took inspiration from dungeons in The Legend of Zelda series. Although the puzzles and action sections were far more linear and simplistic than their Zelda counterparts, they were still enjoyable, nonetheless.

Building Towards An Mmo
The RPG format is a really good way to approach video games about Harry Potter. So much of the franchise revolves around the characters learning to master their inherent magic abilities by studying new spells and other facets of the Wizarding World. It adapts well to RPG traditions like progressing through skill trees and training in new abilities. Hogwarts Legacy is sure to do things like this, which sets a modern precedent for how to develop a Harry Potter RPG, especially a Harry Potter RPG without Harry Potter. That’s exactly what a Harry Potter MMO would look like, so Hogwarts Legacy is good practice for the genre, especially if Avalanche Software retains access to the IP.
It’s even feasible that Avalanche Software could add an MMO-style multiplayer mode to the game later in the game’s life. Something in the vein of Grand Theft Auto Online but set in the Wizarding World would completely change expectations for the game, which are already high. It’s understandable if Avalanche doesn’t want to aim for an expansion like this. If Hogwarts Legacy is meant to be a single-player experience and nothing more, then resources should be focused on that angle. After all, a standalone MMO in the Wizarding World arguably has more potential than a GTA Online-esque addition.

Chamber of Secrets is a very similar game to Prisoner of Azkaban, indicative of their near-identical scores. Chamber of Secrets deserves its spot above Prisoner of Azkaban though, as it took the bones of what PS1’s Sorcerer’s Stone created and fleshed it out into an excellent PS2 adventure game.
Although players were unfortunately unable to control Arthur Weasley’s flying car, they did get access to Harry’s Nimbus 2000. The broom allowed players to fly around the castle grounds at will. Not only did this give Harry’s legs a much-needed break, but also allowed players to discover well-hidden secrets all over one of the best castles in the series, as well.

The LEGO Harry Potter Collection combines 2010s LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, and 2011s LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, combining multiple movies worth of content. The levels and structure adhere closer to the films than the books, though some liberties were taken to allow for two player co-op in each level. The games feature a dynamic split-screen so players can explore each level at their leisure.

Goblet of Fire took the somewhat bizarre move of removing free-roaming, replacing it instead with a rudimentary level select screen. Moreover, the game felt very limited with just eight levels to choose from. This is presumably indicative of the Goblet of Fire movie releasing just one year after Prisoner of Azkaban, giving EA UK little time to work on the game.
Despite this disappointment, Goblet of Fire was the first mainline game in the series that featured local multiplayer. Playing with friends was an excellent addition and made the levels far more enjoyable to play through.
Lego Harry Potter: Years 5
WhenStar Wars ushered in a new era of Lego games, it was only a matter of time before Hogwarts was given the Lego brick treatment. The game took what worked from Lego games that came before it and adapted the formula to the wizarding world. Although difficult to compare to its more realistic counterparts, Lego Harry Potter‘s take on Hogwarts is the series’ magnum opus, with a multitude of secrets to discover and unlockables to collect littered around the iconic school.
The game narrowly misses out on the top of the Metacritic pile, likely due to the game offering little innovation from the preceding Lego game.

More than a year into its life-cycle, the Nintendo Switch has a library of software so huge its going to put most boxed-edition collectors into bankruptcy. One series thats already brought plenty of its entries to Switch is TT Games licence-driven LEGO games, and with LEGO The Incredibles and LEGO DC Super-Villains already having made a bricky splash on the hybrid console in 2018, heres the LEGO Harry Potter Collection as well for good measure.
If youre picking up this two-game set for the first time, youll begin to appreciate just how far the British studio has taken the franchise while still maintaining that familiar mix of platforming, puzzle-solving and tongue-in-cheek humour. Its easy to forget LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 came out all the way back in 2010 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 the year after, and as such, they represent the days before the introduction of features such as grand mega-builds and bespoke voice-overs.
The first game uses regular classes as a way to unlock new spells with everything from Lumos for banishing dark shadows and good ol Wingardium Leviosa for solving the vast majority of the conundrums involving moving bricks and building certain objects. Its a neat way of urging you to explore more of Hogwarts and breaking up your movement through all four films. You can even use The Leaky Cauldron as a way to access Diagon Alley and use its many shops to buy new parts and customise your characters.
