The next room, Professor Flitwick’s, holds a bunch of flying keys and some broomsticks. Harry finds a silver one with a broken wing that is different from the others and catches it, unlocking the next door with it. The next room is Professor McGonagall’s, and has a large chessboard, for a game of Wizard’s Chess that Ron helps them win, at the cost of having to sacrifice himself and getting knocked out. Harry and Hermione continue to the next room, Professor Quirrell’s, where they find an unconscious troll laying on the floor. Lastly, they enter Professor Snape’s room and find seven potions in bottles along with a roll of paper giving clues on which one to drink to continue, noting that three bottles have poison, two have nettle wine, one will send the drinker back, and the other will let the drinker move forward into the next room. Hermione tells Harry that it is a test of logic and not magic wherein most wizards fail. She solves the puzzle, and at Harry’s instruction, drinks the one that will allow her to head back through the purple flame, while Harry drinks the one to head into the black flame and into the final room, where he is surprised at whom he sees.

Harry has been at Hogwarts for around two weeks when he finds out that the Gryffindors will have flying lessons with the Slytherins, much to his disliking. Harry does not want to spend more time with Malfoy than he has to. However, Harry finds that he is quite a natural at flying. Madam Hooch leads the class, gently sending the new fliers off the ground. Neville has an accident when his broom runs amok and breaks his wrist. Madam Hooch takes him to the Hospital Wing telling everyone to stay on the ground while she is away. Malfoy notices a Remembrall belonging to Neville, picks it up, and begins to fly around with it. Harry goes after Malfoy, who throws the ball in the air. Harry catches it spectacularly and lands safely back on the ground. Just then, Professor McGonagall arrives, reprimanding Harry and ordering him to follow her. But instead of punishing him, McGonagall introduces him to Oliver Wood, captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and makes him the Gryffindor team’s new Seeker.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an important text in the larger Wizarding World. It’s inspired a film series and much like Quidditch Through The Ages, is actually available to read in the real world.

Not only this but its author, Newt Scamander, is an incredibly accomplished expert in all things based on magical creatures and Hogwart’s students would have learnt a lot from his studies!

When Harry wakes the next morning, he tries to tell himself that what happened the previous night had all been a dream and that Hagrid taking him to a school for Wizards called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had never happened. But when he opens his eyes, Hagrid had fallen asleep on the couch and he finds that it has all happened. He hears a tapping noise coming from the window and lets in an Owl. The owl drops a newspaper on Hagrid’s lap and begins to claw Hagrid’s coat. Hagrid tells Harry to pay the owl so Harry does what he says and the owl leaves. Hagrid tells him they have to go and buy his things, but Harry worries because he hasn’t got any money. Hagrid tells him his parents didn’t leave him without money and that their first stop is Gringotts, the wizard’s bank. He explains that it is run by Goblins and that “you’d be mad to try and rob it”. Hagrid says Dumbledore also needs something from Gringotts, so Hagrid has to go get it.

Book : Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

This book is a fun romp through the fully established magical world that we all know and love. Rowling doesnt waste any time explaining the concepts she has created and developed up until now. She simply expects us to get it and enjoy the ride through her world. And while this book breaks free of the restraints caused by the predictable school year plot of the previous books, it also is hampered by this fact.

Until now, Rowling had established a bankable formula for her work, revolving around the magical mundanity of life at Hogwarts. Taking her cast of characters away from this setting does not play to her strengths, and it shows in the final book. However, there are some great moments as well, like the sword in the lake, and, of course, The Princes Tale.

Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone By Jk Rowling

The Philosophers Stone is the first in J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter series of seven novels that have made her the most successful literary author of all time, selling in excess of 400 million copies world-wide. The books are read and enjoyed by children and adults alike and have also been made into hugely popular films.

Do the Harry Potter books live up to the hype? When I first began reading the Philosophers stone I was immediately struck by how good – and laugh-out-loud funny – the humour was. You usually need to read a Terry Pratchett novel to ensure constant laughter throughout but Rowling has managed to infuse this book with a lovely wit and charm that will both amuse and delight adults and children.

Here is an example, with the ending being particularly good:

“Harry was frying eggs by the time Dudley arrived in the kitchen with his mother. Dudley looked a lot like Uncle Vernon. He had a large, pink face, not much neck, small, watery blue eyes and thick, blond hair that lay smoothly on his thick, fat head. Aunt Petunia often said that Dudley looked like a baby angel Harry often said that Dudley looked like a pig in a wig.”Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone: The Vanishing Glass

When Harry begins his first term at Hogwarts he is not alone in being overawed:

Is all the hype about the Harry Potter books justified? In a word, yes, the books are a joy to read and possibly the most rewarding young adults book since The Hobbit.

Moin And The Monster By Author Anushka Ravishankar

Moin and the Monster by Anushka Ravishankar and published by Duckbill Books is a fun book about the monster that can come to life only if a person draws it out. Moin manages to draw a very funny-looking monster that is funny rather than scary and reminds us a lot of Dobby, the house elf in the Harry Potter book series.

Then She Released A Treasure Trove Of Trivia

Rowling had long promised an encyclopedia that would index every factoid from her wide-ranging magical universe. In late 2011, it came in a different form than expected: as a website. Pottermore launched as a sort of hybrid game and “Harry Potter” Wikipedia, where users could sign up, get sorted into a Hogwarts house, and win points while also reading bits of information about different elements of the “Harry Potter” universe.

Some of the entries were illuminating, like the tragic backstory on Professor McGonagall. Others, like the ingredients that go into different potions, were more trivial. Still, it delighted hardcore fans. Since 2011, Pottermore has moved away from the game component and acted more as a depository for Rowling’s material. She’s expanded it, and added things like short stories about the founding of Ilvermorny, the American wizarding school, and a family history for Harry Potter.

Book : Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

Prince sets an almost impossibly high bar for the ending of the series, and introduces a lot of vital information about the Wizarding World we just didnt know before. This book is actually incredibly light in tone, especially when compared to the previous book. It has incredibly funny moments, and shows a deeper side to the anti hero of Harry Potter Severus Snape.

Dumbledores death at the end of the sixth is a tragic moment, but it was pretty necessary in order for Harry to come into his own and defeat Voldemort in the seventh, so well forgive Rowling for tugging at our heartstrings.

Harry Potter And The Half

Who Are Most Powerful Wizards in Literature?

This book is a high point of the series, striking a balance between dark drama and hilarious comedy in a perfect way. It provides a backstory to the series villain, Voldemort, and deepens characters considerably while throwing tons of twists into the mix about old ones . Snape is also showcased for the first time as considerably more complex than he initially appeared to be and the final twist of him being the Half-Blood Prince is an exciting payoff at the novels emotional climax, and thats saying nothing of Dumbledores unexpected and emotional death at the books climax.

This is a heartfelt, drama, and masterpiece of a novel that truly solidifies Harry Potters mature themes.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows ~ 65 Million Copies

The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling | Official Book Trailer

If you guessed that the final book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows sold approximately 65 million copies you would be correct. It wouldn’t make sense for it to have sold less. If you made it to The Half Blood Prince it only makes sense to finish out the story with a single book remaining. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, however, does hold a special sales record of its own. While it only sold as many copies as four of its predecessors, it reached those sales numbers faster than any of the books before it. Having sold 15 million of its 65 million copies in the first day alone, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows holds the world record for fastest-selling book in history.
