Albus Dumbledore Was First Played By Richard Harris
Richard Harris played Albus Dumbledore, Hogwarts’ Headmaster, in “Sorcerer’s Stone” and “Chamber of Secrets.”
At the time, Harris was a well-established actor best known for roles in films like “Camelot” , “Juggernaut” , “Gulliver’s Travels” , “Unforgiven” , and “Gladiator” .
He also appeared in “The Pearl” and “The Count of Monte Cristo” in between the first two “Harry Potter” films.

Growing up on screen is a unique challenge. While young actors and actresses get to experience the glory of the limelight, they also deal with intense pressures. That was the case for actress and new mom Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown in Harry Potter. She recently opened up about gaining weight before filming Deathly Hallows, and how she dealt with the unhappy reaction she received about her new size.
Jessie Cave revealed that between filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, she gained a bit of weight. Her change in appearance also changed the way she was treated by people in the film industry. While she explained to The Guardian that she was never directly told to lose weight, one costume designer grabbed her stomach during a fitting:
Which was just horrible. And I laughed. Youre like : Oh, youre hurting me. Actually, its fine.Now I go into the costume fitting for any job and Im terrified. Im prepared to be told something unkind. Youre treated like a different type of thing youre not somebody with feelings who has thought about what pants theyre going to wear that day because theyre going to be seen. Now when theyre nice to me, and they are sensitive to how I may be feeling about my body, or that I may be breastfeeding or whatever, I almost cry.
Professor Mcgonagoll Maggie Smith
The actress who played Dumbledores right-hand man has slowed down her Hollywood career after Harry Potter. Still, shes had some big roles: She co-starred in the Downton Abbey TV series as the hilarious Violet Crawley, and will appear in the upcoming movie. She also starred in the two The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films as well as 2015s The Lady in the Van.

Jones Has Added Plenty Of Credits To His Filmography Both As A Voice And On
Jones joined a number of other major film franchises after “Harry Potter.”
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he played the evil Hydra scientist Arnim Zola in “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” .
In “The Hunger Games” , “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” , and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” , Jones got to improvise and play off of Stanley Tucci in his role as Claudius Templesmith.
Jones also worked on horror and sci-fi films “Berberian Sound Studio” and “Morgan” , and family films “Muppets Most Wanted” and “Christopher Robin” .
Recently, Jones appeared in “The Last Thing He Wanted” , “Archive” , “Uncle Vanya” , “Infinite” , and “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain” .
The actor also voiced a character on the Disney+ series “What If?”
He has a number of other projects in post-production, including “A Boy Called Christmas.”
Draco Malfoy Tom Felton

Aside from Voldemort, Draco Malfoy might be the top nemesis to Harry Potter in the series. Early on, he tries to make friends with Harry but when Harry snubs that invitation they become enemies. It doesnt help that they were also sorted to rival houses Gryffindor for Harry and Slytherin for Draco.
Through the years the rivalry continues and only seems to get worse. Draco, a pureblood Wizard, chooses to fight beside Voldemort with his family which really makes him an enemy for Harry. Though Harry still showed sympathy for his situation by the end of the war they never really moved past all the events that happened between them.

Derek Deadman As Tom The Innkeeper
The Leaky Cauldron’s chief barkeep Tom went through a sizable transformation between his first appearance in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and his return for another Diagon Alley moment in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. His hair was all gone, for one thing, and he looked a lot less stout.
The reason is that actor Derek Deadman did not return to the role for film three, and it was filled by Jim Tavare. Though Deadman was an accomplished actor before stepping into the world of witchcraft and wizardry, he largely left the movie scene after the first Harry Potter and only appeared in one film afterwards before passing away in 2014 from complications associated with his diabetes. Although it’s unclear whether Deadman chose to step away from the role, incoming director Alfonso Cuaron did want to darken up the atmosphere in Azkaban and even instructed Tavare to play the role like Igor from Young Frankenstein, which may mean that Deadman’s chipper persona was no longer a good fit.
Seamus Finnigan Devon Murray
This Gryffindor had a penchant for blowing things up in the Potter films, but hes now put acting on the back burner. You can occasionally find Devon Murray making appearances at fan conventions, but he has mostly traded in films for horses, currently running a stable yard and competing in show jumping.

Cormac Mclaggen Freddie Stroma
Freddie Stroma may not have had a large part in the Harry Potter series, but he left an impression. Its hard to forget his less than subtle romantic advances towards Hermione in Half-Blood Prince, of which Stroma played with the perfect amount of charm and slime. After Deathly Hallows, Stroma earned a role in Pitch Perfect, Game of Thrones, Unreal, and is set to be in Bridgerton alongside Julie Andrews, airing sometime this year.
Potters Mother Is Transgender And Father Is Non
For example, for the role of the parents of Harry, Lily and James Potter, they are looking for artists who do not look like Rowlings characters.
The casting notes state that it must be an actor with the appearance of Asian, Black, African, ethnically ambiguous, multi-racial, Native, Hispanic, Latino, Middle Eastern, South Asian, Indian, Southeast Asian, or Pacific.
Whether Lily Potter will be black is still unknown, but the main requirement for the heroine remains that it must be a gender-nonconforming, non-binary, trans woman.

Lewis Still Does Theater And Acts In Films But He Is Probably Best Known On The Internet For His Glow

The casting of the Harry Potter films was limited to British thespiansa rule so strict it even forced producers to turn down Robin Williams for the role of Hagridbut Verne Troyer became the rare exception when he was cast as the Gringotts banker Griphook in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Troyer was the only American actor with a major role in the film, but the character was voiced by his English co-star Warwick Davis, who also portrayed Professor Flitwick and another bank teller in the film.
By the time Griphook became more significant to the story in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Davis took over the role completely. Davis later explained his decision to seek out the role. “Griphook has so much more depth to him than I’d ever been able to get into my work as Professor Flitwick. So, I went in and read for David Yates and the casting director, and gave them a best shot, David left a message that I’d got the part.”
Lord Voldemort Ralph Fiennes
Ralph Fiennes was a very established actor before the Harry Potter films, so naturally, that has continued since the series wrapped. Lets be honest, its not like his nearly unrecognizable appearance as Lord Voldemort was going to increase his cred among the youth. When hes not starring in Wes Anderson films and Bond movies, hes kept up his Voldy chops by voicing the character for the Wizarding World rides, including Escape from Gringotts.

Dolores Umbridge Imelda Staunton
After a perfect performance as the villain you loved to hate, Imelda Staunton went on to star in multiple theatre roles in London in which she received 5 Olivier Award Nominations, including a win for her performance in Gypsy. She has also kept up appearances on the silver screen with roles in both Maleficent films, both Paddington films, and an appearance in the Downton Abbey movie, alongside her husband, and Downton Abbey star, Jim Carter.

Its been a long time since Branaghs first and last Harry Potter appearance in 2002s Chamber of Secrets. Since then hes had plenty of acting and directing work in films, as well as starting his own theatre company, the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company, where he would be actor and manager for five shows between October 2015 November 2016. His plethora of acting roles include My Week With Marilyn, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and Dunkirk directing credits consisting of Cinderella, Murder on the Orient Express, and 2020s book-to-film adaptation of Artemis Fowl.

Azkaban prisoner, unregistered Animagus, and Harry’s godfather, Sirius Black, was played by Gary Oldman.

Harry Potters godfather Sirius Black, played by Harry Oldman in the Harry Potter films, may be a woman and also black.
In the casting lists describing the required characters, the producers did not indicate the gender of the actor, but only his race.
It seems that such courage of the creators of the series can seriously anger the creator of the characters JK Rowling, because all the copyrights to books about the world of wizards belong to her.

Although several of the actors portraying minor and background Hogwarts students came and went throughout the Harry Potter films, the recasting of Lavender Brown proved to be highly controversial. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, it was black actress Jennifer Smith who sported the Gryffindor character’s robes. Shortly after the film’s release, J.K. Rowling debuted her sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which gave the character a much more central role than she had ever had before.
By the time that installment was adapted for the screen, it was a white actress named Jessie Cave who stepped into the part of Ron ‘s would-be love interest, which resulted in manycrying foul over the choice to replace Smith before she could have more meaningful screen time. There was no specific description of the character being white in the books, and even if there was, some people didn’t think it was necessary to replace her, especially since it seemed to imply that the character wouldn’t be lovable unless she was as pale as Ron. For what it’s worth, that wasn’t the last time the Harry Potter franchise would be accused of under-representing people of color.

Jim Broadbent was a late edition to the Harry Potter cast, first appearing in Half-Blood Prince, but he certainly made his mark in a short time. No doubt youve seen a movie with Bill Nighy in it. Its a shame he only makes one appearance in the Harry Potter films, in Deathly Hallows: Part 1, but there are plenty of other great roles to see him in. Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Underworld are just a few of his prominent film credits.
