Hogwarts Legacy: Release Date Delay Platforms And Everything We Know So Far
Hogwarts Legacy will be released this year according to developer Avalanche Software and shows every sign of being the game that muggles have been waiting for since Harry Potter got his Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry letter.
Players will get the chance to attend the magical school as a student long before Harry, Hermione, and Ron arrive on the Hogwarts Express. It’s set in the 1800s, and considering Albus Dumbledore wasn’t even born until 1881, will mean a whole new timeline of magical lore to discover.
Hogwarts Legacy was revealed at the September 2020’s PS5 showcase, but since then the game has faced controversy over the involvement of the book series’ original author JK Rowling and was delayed until 2022.
Development studio Avalanche Software has previously worked on Disney spin-off games like Cars and Toy Story and is working with Warner Bros. Games’ Portkey Games on the project.

Hogwarts Legacy Release Date And Platforms
With the release of a teaser trailer, the PS5 showcase revealed that Hogwarts Legacy is set to come to the PS5 as well as the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Along with next-gen consoles, it’s also set to ride its broomstick on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. We haven’t had an exact release date, but we do know that the game won’t be arriving until some time in 2022 so that Avalance can “give the game the time that it needs.” and that the RPG will come out after Fantastic Beasts 3 – meaning we will be waiting until April 2022 at the earliest.

While cleaning up 12 Grimmauld Place, the new headquarters of the reconvened Order of the Phoenix, Molly Weasley stumbled across what she thought was a Boggart in a locked cabinet of a writing desk. She decided to wait for Alastor Moody to confirm it was a Boggart, before opening the cabinet.
After escaping from the party being held in celebration of Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger becoming Prefects, Harry heard sobbing coming from the drawing room. When he looked inside, Harry saw Mrs Weasley cowering against a dark wall, and the body of her son, Ron, sprawled on the floor. After Molly tried the Riddikulus charm without success, Ron’s body turned into the body of Bill Weasley, with his eyes wide open and empty. Molly’s next attempt turned Bill’s body into Arthur Weasley, with blood running down his face. The next attempts turned the boggart into Fred and George Weasley, Percy Weasley, and then Harry.

The special drops on Saturday, January 1 at 3 a.m. ET. It has a run time of 1 hour 45 min.

Hogwarts Legacy Release Date Reportedly Closer Than You Think
According to a new report, the Hogwarts Legacy release date is closer than many are expecting. The new Harry Potter game was originally planned to release in 2021. Obviously, this didn’t happen. Right now, WB Games hasn’t provided a release date more specific than “2022,” nor has the new report, but the latter does indicate that not only is the Harry Potter game unlikely to be delayed again, but it’s close to releasing.
The report comes the way of industry leaker AccountNGT, who claims that support from Sumo Digital on the game “has really helped with development.” Adding to this, the leaker says Harry Potter fans should “expect to see it sooner than expected.” This is in reference not to a new trailer, but a release date. That said, if it’s releasing sooner than everyone is expecting that indicates it’s about to surface with its second-ever-trailer.
The current expectation is that the game will release sometime in the fall based on how little we’ve seen and heard about the game at this point and because that’s when most big games like to release. However, this is the expectation. According to AccountNGT, it’s coming sooner than the expectation, which suggests it will be out this spring or summer. This isn’t specified though, so take this bit for what it is, which is speculation. Meanwhile, take the rest with a grain of salt.
Where And When Can I Watch It
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will premiere Jan. 1 on HBO Max, right as the clock strikes midnight and the new year begins. To watch it, you’ll need an HBO Max subscription. Harry Potter Hbo Max Series
In addition to Fantastic Beasts 3 there is reportedly another Harry Potter project in the works, instead of taking a theatrical route, this one if it actually pans out will be coming to HBO Max in the form of a television series. In January 2021, The Hollywood Reporter released a report stating that very early discussions were happening for a live-action series set within the Harry Potter universe, but there has been no word as to what the story will be about or even a confirmation from Warner Bros, who has denied that any Harry Potter TV show is currently in development at the studio or HBO Max
Would The Harry Potter Cast Return
While recasting the beloved original cast of the Harry Potter franchise would prove a challenging endeavor, the studio might have to for story continuity. The characters are considerably older in the play Harry, Ron and Hermione are in their late 30s when the play takes place. The original three actors of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint are all in their early 30s, still a bit too young to convincingly be just a stone’s throw away from 40. However, should the studio decide to adapt Harry Potter and the Cursed Child sometime in the future, they need only wait a few years for their original trio to fit the roles.
Another thing to consider is how Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally cast, which had caused inevitable controversy back in 2016: Hermione Grangers role was cast with a Black actress, which Rowling defended by saying that Hermiones skin color had never been described in detail in the novels. Perhaps Rowling was asserting that anyone could play Hermione so long as she embodied the essence of the character, but if the studio decides to recast the main trio, they should lean into fully recasting every role.

What Studio Is Developing The Hogwarts Legacy
Harry Potter RPG is being developed by Avalanche Software. This was revealed in a Eurogamer article back in 2018 and reaffirmed by Bloomberg‘s 2020 report. Avalanche Software was a former developer owned by Disney that was acquired by WB Games back in 2017.
The developer is best known for its work on the Disney Infinity games and the Tak series. Hogwarts Legacy could serve as the studio’s next big break.

The ‘Hogwarts Legacy‘ game has not been delayed indefinitely and will be released in 2022, as information close to Warner Bros and the JK Rowling franchise state that it will come out after the release of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore‘, which is set to be released in early April.
Therefore, it appears as though ‘Hogwarts Legacy‘ will be available to buy from summer 2022. The game is set to be released on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The Death Of Harry Potter
The scene where Harry Potter actually dies happened in the seventh book, Deathly Hallows, during the Battle of Hogwarts. After a lot of fighting and several losses, Harry decided to accept Voldemorts previous offer to give himself up to save the lives of his friends and colleagues. He went on to the Forbidden Forest, where Voldemort was waiting for him with his Death Eaters.
As they faced each other, Harry Potter gave himself up without a fight, an act Voldemort punished by casting the Killing Curse at Harry.
Harry Potter fell to the ground and awoke in a place called the Limbo. There, he met his old mentor, Albus Dumbledore, who apologized for his behavior and explained his actions. Dumbledores spirit further explained to Harry that he wasnt actually dead, but could choose to stay there or return to the real world.
Dumbledore explained that due to the fact that Voldemort used Harrys blood to resurrect , the two were intrinsically bound, which protected Harry from being killed by Voldemort.
Also, after the incident in Godrics Hollow, Harry unwillingly and unknowingly became a Horcrux, since he had a part of Voldemorts soul inside him Harry met that crippled piece in the Limbo.

After torturing Harrys corpse with the Cruciatus Curse, Voldemort ordered Rubeus Hagrid to bring the corpse back to Hogwarts and claim his ultimate victory.
Which Locations Are In Hogwarts Legacy
There may not be familiar faces in Hogwarts Legacy due to the time period it’s set in, but it looks like we can definitely expect some standard places. Avalanche say that it’s an open world game, so there will likely be plenty of exploring to do in and out of the castle.
Hogwarts CastleIt should come as no surprise that we’ll be spending a lot of time in Hogwarts Castle itself as students. In the reveal trailer we got a good look at the expansive great hall and a look at the exterior we know so well too.
HogsmeadeThe nearby village of Hogsmeade shows up in the first trailer too, so we can likely expect to wind down after classes in some of the local shops.
Forbidden ForestAlso from the trailer we can spot a venture into the Forbidden Forest where a student is fighting against those unknown evil wizards of Hogwarts Legacy.

The incantation for the Boggart-Banishing Spell was Riddikulus. The charm required a strong mind and good concentration. The incantation and wand movement alone would not affect a Boggart. The spell could be tricky, because it involved making the creature into a figure of fun, so that fear could be dispelled in amusement. If the caster was able to laugh aloud at the Boggart, it would disappear at once. The intention was to force the Boggart to assume a less-threatening and hopefully comical form.

Having multiple people facing one Boggart may reduce its effectiveness of frightening its victims, since it would not be able to determine which form to take.
A Boggart also gains the weaknesses of whatever they transform into. For example if it transforms into a Dementor, it can be repelled by a Patronus Charm like a normal Dementor.

What Is The Hogwarts Legacy Story
As per the official synopsis: Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Make allies, battle Dark wizards and decide the fate of the wizarding world.
So its Hogwarts, but set a long time before anyone had ever heard about Harry Potter. Also, while this is inspired by the stories we have all been reading for many years now, JK Rowling herself is not involved in the game and it is not a new story from her.
What Is The Gameplay In Hogwarts Mystery
As we’ve mentioned, Hogwarts Mystery is an open-world action RPG set in the world of Harry Potter. “Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world,” the website reveals. “Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover fantastic beasts, customize your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents, and become the wizard you want to be.”

Does Hogwarts Legacy Have Multiplayer
Multiplayer has not been announced for Hogwarts Legacy.
As of writing, multiplayer has not been confirmed for Hogwarts Legacy meaning its purely single-player.
The games website simply describes the title as an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books.

It is set in the 1800s meaning there will be familiar elements as well as ones that are unfamiliar. This is great as it allows the developers at Avalanche to respect the source material while not being handcuffed by it.
In addition to being open-world, the games website also says that youll be able to customise your own character, invest in upgrades, and become the wizard you want to be.
The desire for multiplayer is easy to understand as being able to run around Hogwarts with a mate causing mischief and mayhem would be a lot of fun.
However, multiplayer has not been announced and the game certainly sounds like a single-player only experience.
