Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
The Malfoys remain reluctant followers of Voldemort, who now uses their home as his headquarters Draco passes out after witnessing Voldemort murder Muggle Studies professor Charity Burbage. Harry experiences occasional and disturbing visions of Draco being forced into performing Voldemort’s bidding and feels “sickened… by the use to which Draco was now being put by Voldemort.” When Harry, Ron, and Hermione are captured and taken to Malfoy Manor, Draco is asked to identify them, and though they are clearly recognisable, he only ambiguously replies “It might be.” During the successful escape from Malfoy Manor headed by Dobby, Harry overpowers Draco and captures his wand.
When Harry, Ron, and Hermione seek Ravenclaw’s diadem in the Room of Requirement, Draco, along with Crabbe and Goyle , attempts to capture Harry alive. However, Crabbe defies Draco’s orders and attempts to kill the trio by casting the deadly Fiendfyre unable to control the spell, he dies in the blaze while the trio rescue Draco and Goyle . Draco, despite his often condescending and belittling attitude toward Crabbe and Goyle , grieves for his lost friend. During the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco is seen pleading with a Death Eater who seems intent on killing him. He is once again saved by Harry and Ron, the latter of whom punches Draco in the face under the invisibility cloak for attempting to appease the Death Eater.

Slytherin And A Different Kind Of Ambition
The Slytherins Harry met during his time at Hogwarts had certainly poured themselves a few cups of ambition. Draco Malfoy was so determined to be a Quidditch player, that he bought the whole Slytherin team brooms so he could play Seeker. Horace Slughorn sought to find the brightest and best of witches and wizards to advance the Slug Club and his connections. Thats not to mention the Slytherin Death Eaters we came across Severus Snape, Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange a thirst for power, to be close to Lord Voldemort, to change the wizarding world drove them on and over to the Dark Lords side.
Scorpius was ambitious too, but his aims were different. Scorpius just wanted to be liked, to have a friend, to go to Hogwarts and study and be happy. He was clever too, ambitious in his magical studies, for his own future. But Scorpius taught us that ambition doesnt have to be linked to Dark magic or trying to be better than everyone else. He taught us that Slytherins can be ambitious in different, sometimes smaller, ways but that doesnt make your dreams anyless important or worthy of achieving. And you can admit youre just a little bit scared along the way

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child
In the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Draco appears with his son Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, who became best friends with Harry‘s second son Albus Severus Potter. It was revealed that during the fourth year of Scorpius’s time in Hogwarts that Draco became widowed, as his wife Astoria Malfoy passed away due to a inherited blood curse, which could shorten her lifespan and disallow her from growing into old age.
After he was married, Draco initially contemplated letting the Malfoy bloodline to end with him to allow Astoria live longer , as he was aware of Astoria’s family blood curse and that childbirth would weaken her further. Astoria, however, persuaded him from doing so as she wanted a child not for the pure-blood beliefs, but for him so that he will not be alone should she died some day, which culiminated into the birth of Draco’s first and only child Scorpius. Draco had once considered the birth of his son as the greatest day of his life, even though Scorpius’s birth had led to Astoria’s health to be further weakened and eventually caused her to die fourteen years later.
During the events of the play, Draco slowly made amends with Harry and his friends as they all embarked on a journey to save their sons from Voldemort‘s daughter Delphini, demonstrating his slow, but gradual acknowledgement of Harry as a friend and his outright denouncement of his Death Eater past.

Draco Was A Much Better Parent Than His Own Parents
One sign of growth that is seen in Draco is how he is as a parent. While hes not perfect, he does seem to really love and care about his son, Scorpius. He doesnt hold the bigoted views of his own parents and says that he would support his child marrying anyone regardless of if they were a pure-blood.
Given the environment Draco grew up in, this was definitely a big thing and shows just how far Draco came from his childhood.
What If Draco Malfoy Had Been A Gryffindor
There are a lot of unflattering things that can be said about Draco Malfoy and most of them are well-deserved. He is snobbish, cruel, highly prejudiced with an inflated ego to boot. Still, how much of that is due to his upbringing and the influences of those around him? Would Draco Malfoy have been a different person if he had been sorted into Gryffindor? Would he have rejected his familys pure-blood mania? Would he have been assigned the mission to kill Dumbledore? And would he have succeeded? Or would he have shunned Voldemort? Most importantly, what would Crabbe and Goyle have done without him? While this is all speculation, we cant help but consider just how different things could have been if Draco Malfoy had never been a Slytherin.

Would He Still Have Been A Bully
If anyone were to describe a bully, we can imagine they would describe Draco Malfoy. He spent so much time and energy trying to make others miserable and seemed to relish the power that came with it. While he might not be quite as openly nasty to those around him if he was in Gryffindor its wouldnt be for noble reasons. His deep insecurity coupled with his desire to keep useful people on side would mean his bullying would have to take a different form.
Rather than being overtly awful, its likely he would try to subtly manipulate those who were more impressionable instead. We can imagine that there would be a few Gryffindors who would fall for that Seamus Finnegan is one person who comes to mind. When Seamus’s mum didn’t believe that Voldemort was back, she instilled that view on an impressionable Seamus who then, for a time, shunned Harry. We can see Malfoy slowly poisoning Gryffindors like Seamus and convincing them to ostracise those he believes are beneath him.

Would He Have Rejected His Familys Beliefs
Being a Gryffindor in a family full of Slytherins wouldnt be easy and Malfoy would have been conflicted. At home, his head would have been filled with anti-Muggle sentiments, fed to him by his parents. In the Gryffindor common room, those same ideas would be considered repulsive by many. Without the safety net of being in Slytherin, its likely Malfoy would not have been quite so open or antagonistic about his views . Though just because he would be quieter about them, it wouldnt mean he didnt believe in them.
Malfoys personality relies a great deal on his status and he doesnt handle embarrassment or being alone well. However, he is quite calculating, and he could probably mask his true views at school to retain his allies. Even if his perspective had softened a little bit surrounded by the likes of Harry and Ron, he still wouldnt risk his cushy homelife. It takes a strong person to stand up to their family and despite all his bluster, its likely Malfoy would have been too insecure to do so.
