He stood toe to toe with Voldermort, trading verbal jabs and reminding those still standing that Harry was still with them despite his apparent death. Neville’s words were inspiring and helped to begin the final charge against the forces of darkness. At this moment, he was a true leader.

Neville Longbottom Goes From Zero To Hero

Throughout Harry Potter, no single character experiences a bigger glow-up than Neville Longbottom . A dorky, inept Gryffindor in Harry’s class who’s constantly the victim of bullies throughout the school, Neville eventually comes into his own, desperate to prove himself to honor the memory of his parents, who were tortured into insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange years ago.

Ultimately, Neville does just that, thanks in large part to Harry’s tutelage when the two are a part of the renegade student group known as Dumbledore’s Army. After fighting valiantly at the Battle of Hogwarts, Neville personally kills Voldemort’s snake, Nagini who happens to be one of his final Horcruxes, paving the way for Harry to kill Voldemort. In the years that follow, we learn that Neville becomes Hogwarts’ Herbology professor, settling into a subject where he excelled in school. Neville may not have been the “Chosen One,” but he definitely got the series’ best ending.

Sirius Black / Gary Oldman

Hi hello, look at Sirius Black embody everything that you love about DILFs without actually being a dad and therefore too old for you. The fact that Gary Oldman is the man they picked to bring his smouldering, brooding, magical bad-boy charms to the silver screen is just… swooooooooooooooon. -K.M.

Lucius Malfoy / Jason Isaacs

Is there really anything more to say about how drop-dead sexy Lucius Malfoy is? With blonde hair that flows like a platinum waterfall, blue eyes that could get you to renounce Gryffindor, and a badass silver cane that could knock you off your broomstick, Lucius Malfoy is essentially a sexier man version of his wimpy son, Draco. -A.P.

Remus Lupin And Nymphadora Tonks Go Down Fighting

Who is the best Harry Potter character out of these 10?

Readers and viewers first meet Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks in Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix, respectively, with the former being Harry’s third Defense Against the Dark Arts professor and the latter a quirky Auror who can change her appearance at will. Though the two rarely share scenes together in Harry’s presence, they ultimately strike up a romance, and despite Lupin’s reservations as a werewolf, he doesn’t want to make Tonks an outcast or have a child with the same affliction they eventually get married and have a son, whom they name Teddy, after Tonks’ father.

Unfortunately, Lupin and Tonks, much like Harry’s parents, leave their son behind thanks to Voldemort. During the Battle of Hogwarts, while Harry is tracking down Voldemort’s final Horcruxes, Lupin and Tonks both lose their lives, though neither readers nor viewers ever learn exactly what happened. Harry, as Teddy’s godfather, takes their orphaned son under his wing, but it’s horrifically sad that two of Harry Potter‘s most lovable characters meet such a bitter end.

He Has Been Known To Be Moody

Harry is a teenager, so an unsurprising flaw is his moodiness. He can be sensitive, and this is understandable he lost his parents, he always feels like a lot of pressure is on him, and he has faced some terrible enemies throughout the years.

So while he can usually be found with a smile on his face, he has also been known to be grouchy, hide away, and lash out, as well. Never enough to make him unlikable, of course, but enough to take note of by fans, who have many unpopular opinions about Harry Potter.

Peevess Absence From The Movies Is Seen By Many As A Loss

The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is packed with secret corridors, moving staircases, and talking portraits. It is also inhabited by a fair amount of ghosts. Along with the House Ghosts and the History of Magic teacher Cuthbert Binns, students of Hogwarts may have a run-in with the poltergeist Peeves.

A prankster and a troublemaker, Peeves loves to cause chaos for the inhabitants of Hogwarts. The only ones who can control him are Albus Dumbledore and the Slytherin Ghost, the Bloody Baron. But he can also be a force for good. He pranks Dolores Umbridge during her stint as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and even participates in the Battle of Hogwarts to defend the school. He was originally supposed to be included in the movies, but the scenes were ultimately cut because of time constraints. His absence is seen by many as a huge loss.

Of course, the young wizard provides a laugh, as it’s one of Neville’s defining traits in Harry Potter. But as early as The Sorcerer’s Stone he also demonstrated that deep down he was both brave and willing to stand up for himself. He faced off against Harry, Ron, and Hermione when they were about to get Gryffindor into trouble again.

Neville’s intelligence is showcased in this quote as he plays upon Hermione’s fears of potentially breaking her perfect record. But as Dumbledore later states, it takes a lot of courage to stand up to friends, far more than an enemy. It was clear from the beginning that Neville was a hero even if he was frozen for his efforts.

The Worst From Hufflepuff: Zacharias Smith

Top 10 Weirdest Harry Potter Characters

Pictured left, Zacharias remains one of the worst characters in the Harry Potter universe. His overall arrogance and cowardliness make him nearly insufferable, with many fans of the franchise ranking him at the bottom of their lists. While his strong loyalty to Hufflepuff cannot be argued, many of his qualities pale in comparison when it comes to fellow Hufflepuff members. While he didnt necessarily join the evil forces of the Death Eaters, he also refused to fight for the greater good of Hogwarts. His constant complaining and criticism towards Harry left a sour taste in the mouth of many fans, hence his general dismissal.

Don’t Miss: How To Determine Harry Potter House

Dobby Challenges The House

The house-elf Dobby may seem terrified of his own shadow and originally tries to hurt himself for perceived offenses to his master, but hes really one of the bravest characters in the series. Despite the fact that he has to obey the Malfoys, he does his best to warn Harry of Lucius plans.

His desire for freedom challenges the way of life of the house-elves, but he embraces it even if it ostracizes him. He dies a free elf in Harrys arms, but if hed been a young wizard, he would have definitely gone to the House of the Lion.

The Best From Hufflepuff: Cedric Diggory

Its no secret that Hufflepuff members are extreme pushovers, which is, unfortunately, a cause of Cedrics tragic death. On the other hand, Cedric possessed many of Hufflepuffs admirable qualities, such as loyalty and inner strength. Without trying too hard, Cedric was a popular, likable character amongst many Harry Potter fans. Despite physically competing against Harry, Cedrics pride and willingness to help others allows Harry to escape while Cedric stays behind to suffer the consequences. A fighter to the end, Cedric is popularized on many Harry Potter fans lists as a notable character. His humble nature and kind heart make him the very best that Hufflepuff House has to offer.

Response Within The Harry Potter Fandom

Harry Potter Character Endings Ranked From Worst To Best

The response to the play from the Harry Potterfandom was polarizing.Fans responded positively to the play and its characters, with Scorpius Malfoy being particularly popular. Some fans commented that the dialogue between the familiar characters was “spot on”, celebrating it as a faithful continuation of the books. Others have noted that the play sheds light on some of the relationships between the characters, such as Harry and Dumbledore’s. The response had been particularly positive among fans who watched the play on stage.

Some fans however, said the story seemed more “like a work of fan fiction” and said that it diverged from previously established rules of the universe, criticising the script’s characterisation. Some also took issue with the style and plot of the script, complaining that the Time-Turner storylines had already been used, as had Cedric Diggory’s death, and that the writers were rehashing old storylines and over-played tropes of the fantasy/sci-fi genre. These criticisms have led to some of the fandom rejecting the play as separate from the Pottercanon. Rowling, however, feels the story should be considered canon.

Why Is It Always Me

Neville Longbottom is introduced into the series as a character meant to provide moments of humor. He always seems to end up in a variety of ridiculous mishaps, and the attack of the Cornish Pixies in Chamber Of Secrets is perhaps one of the most memorable moments of that kind.

As he gets hung from the ceiling Neville asks “Why is it always me?” It’s a meta-joke that helps endear the character to the audience but also rounds out his personality further. He is no longer scared by the antics but simply resigned to the fact that he will be the joke of the group. There’s something quite noble in that self-acceptance and humility.

Hermione Granger Takes The Wizarding World By Storm

Often described as the brightest witch of her age, Muggle-born Hermione Granger, equipped with formidable intellect and a big heart, spends her time at Hogwarts proving her brilliance and worth, and she’s richly rewarded later in life. Alongside Ron and Harry, Hermione plays an enormous part in Voldemort’s downfall, using her considerable brains to aid her talented but slightly less intelligent best friends at every turn. And there’s no question that Ron and Harry would never have gotten as far as they did without Hermione’s skills as a witch.

Hermione marries Ron and has two children, but more importantly, she goes on to change the wizarding world for the better. Alongside Kingsley Shacklebolt, an Auror who becomes Minister of Magic after Voldemort’s downfall, Hermione reforms the laws of the wizarding world to be kinder to Muggle-born citizens, and when she appears in Cursed Child, she has risen to the post of Minister for Magic herself. Hermione is one of the most unforgettable characters in recent pop culture history, so it’s fitting that she gets such a triumphant ending.

Favorite Harry Potter Characters

Its been 20 years since the first Harry Potter book, the Philosophers Stone, hit bookshelves and changed the lives of many, many children. Not since perhaps Star Wars in 1977 had a science fiction story captivated the minds of a generation like Harry Potter and his friends did. Much like Star Wars, it seems like were only at the beginning of an ever expanding Potter-verse. One of the main reasons that the books/films were so successful is that author JK Rowling spent a ton of time building her universe before she even penned the first chapter of Philosphers Stone and its because of that deep, well-thought out universe that people became so entrenched in something that felt so real. So, with that in mind, we here at BabbleTop wanted to rank our favorite characters from the Harry Potter universe!

Kreacher Becomes An Unexpected Force For Good

Harry Potter: Severus Snape voted best character

As the servant of the House of Black, the house-elf Kreacher favors Pure-Blood ideals and fanatically worships his dead mistress Walburga. He shows very little respect to his owner Sirius, whom he sees as a disappointment toward Walburga. This proves to be devastating, as he ends up betraying the Order of the Phoenix to Narcissa Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrangealso members of House Black. Ultimately, his actions lead to Siriuss death.

Despite his traitorous behavior, his relationship with Siriuss dead brother, Regulus, is truly endearing. Once in Harrys service, he comes to appreciate the young boy-wizard. He leads the house-elves of Hogwarts in the battle against the Dark Lord, both in Reguluss name and for Harry.

Luna Lovegood Proves An Invaluable Ally

When Harry first meets Luna Lovegood , a Ravenclaw student one year below him at Hogwarts, he’s not particularly impressed by her oddball behavior, her sometimes frustrating flightiness, and her incredibly strange beliefs about creatures like the Crumple-Horned Snorkack. However, after Luna joins Harry at the Ministry in Order of the Phoenix and fights Death Eaters alongside him, Harry finally realizes that Luna is an incredibly talented witch and a loyal friend, cementing her as a part of his inner circle.

Luna proves her mettle once again during the Battle of Hogwarts, fighting alongside Hogwarts’ army of professors and students and surviving the fray. In the aftermath, Luna can finally live freely again, and in a perfect post-script for this eccentric character, she ultimately marries Rolf Scamander, a character who’s never seen in the books or films but is a descendent of Fantastic Beasts‘ Newt Scamander which presumably allows her to seek the truth about Crumple-Horned Snorkacks.

Rising tensions

When Harry picked Albus up from King’s Cross, who had returned from a year at Hogwarts, he was surprised to find Albus distant and colder. This distance was in direct response to the pressure Albus felt regarding Harry’s legacy and the expectations that others put on him because of it. Albus and Scorpius Malfoy became fast friends during the year, as they were kindred spirits they both carry a burden stemming from their family identity and feel that they are misfits and losers in comparison with the other students at Hogwarts. Harry did not like this and he questioned why Albus was content to have only the one friend. Their relationship would stay strained for the next couple of years to come.

In September 2019, Harry took Albus to King’s Cross yet again where he gave Albus the permission slip he needed to visit Hogsmeade. Albus destroyed the slip by burning it, stating that he had no wish to go to Hogsmeade and left his father behind. This in turn caused Harry to become angry with him. Their father-son relationship continues to deteriorate, going from bad to worse.

He Can Be A Bit Obsessive

One trait Harry shares with Hermione and Ron is that he can be a bit obsessive. Once again, his journey with Voldemort is a wonderful example.

Each book and film put these two face to face, as Harry tried and tried again to take down his biggest threat. There was destined to be one final battle. Harry’s obsession with his mission to destroy Voldemort nearly destroyed him on more than one occasion.

Harry Potter Is Willing To Die To Keep His Loved Ones Safe

Harry Potter characters including Snape and Dumbledore ...

He not only has Voldemort to face, but also the abusive Dursley family and people like Dolores Umbridge.

When Harry learns that he is a Horcrux, he is willing to sacrifice himself to ensure the defeat of Voldemort. Fortunately he survives, and in the final confrontation between the two enemies, Voldemort is defeated by his own spell.
