Sending a child off to school can be a stressful time for any parent. While Harry loved his time at Hogwarts, he was also forced to grow up much faster than most kids because of his conflict with Lord Voldemort.

Coming face-to-face with the man who ended his parents had to be tough enough, but Voldemort was also able to read Harrys mind and even possess him.

Because of their history, its not surprising that Harry would have nightmares about Voldemort even after he defeated him. This is elaborated upon in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child when Harry begins to worry that Voldemort may be returning.

Voldemort possibly could have returned if Delphi had her way, but thankfully Voldemort only remains in Harrys dreams.

He Restored Snapes Portrait

Harry and Snape always had a complicated relationship in both the books and the movies.

Harry and his friends often thought that Snape was behind the evil doings at Hogwarts, especially after he ended Dumbledores life.

While Snape was often thought to be a villain, it is revealed in The Deathly Hallows that Snape had been a double agent working for Dumbledore doing whatever it took to protect Harry.

Harry realizes this before Snape passes away and, according to J.K. Rowling, ensures that Snape has his Headmaster portrait put back up in the Headmasters Office.

After all, he may have seemed vile during his time as Headmaster, but it was really just a show.

The Elder Wand Was His All Along

No matter how many horcruxes Harry and his friends successfully destroyed, Voldemort was still a more powerful wizard than him, so when Harry arose from the dead to pick a final fight with the Dark Lord, he was handily overtaken by Voldemort. But Voldemort still couldn’t kill him a second time with the wand, even after he’d taken ownership from Snape. Why? Well, it turned out that Snape wasn’t the one who’d gained control of the Elder Wand in the first place, so it didn’t pass to Voldemort upon Snape’s execution by Nagini.

Sure, Snape had killed Dumbledore and taken possession of the wand in Half-Blood Prince, but it was Draco who’d originally disarmed Dumbledore, and thus received the allegiance of the Elder Wand. Then, when Harry disarmed him in their subsequent duel, it was Harry who’d laid claim to the Elder Wand’s efficacy. So, while the Elder Wand was successfully used to strike its master down in the forest, when Harry had thoroughly surrendered himself, he still wasn’t disarmed of the wand in that battle. Rowling On Finishing The Book

Rowling completed the book while staying at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh in January 2007, and left a signed statement on a marble bust of Hermes in her room which read: “J. K. Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room on 11 January 2007”. In a statement on her website, she said, “I’ve never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric.” She compared her mixed feelings to those expressed by Charles Dickens in the preface of the 1850 edition of David Copperfield, “a two-years’ imaginative task”. “To which,” she added, “I can only sigh, try seventeen years, Charles”. The Malfoys And Other Post

The movie shows Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa Malfoy and Deaco Malfoy all fleeing from the scene towards the end of the Battle of Hogwarts, never to be seen again. In the source material, though, they’re actually present at Hogwarts for the post-war celebrations.

And that’s not the only thing that’s altered. Warner Bros chose to skip any mention of Kingsley Shacklebolt becoming emergency Minister of Magic, the Death Eaters being rounded up and the innocents being freed from Azkaban. Harry Potter became the target of the Killing Curse multiple times throughout the series. On Halloween night in 1981, Lord Voldemort ventured to Godric’s Hollow with the intent of killing Harry. Lily Potter then shielded her infant son when Voldemort unleashed the Killing Curse, causing it to bounce back and disintegrate his physical body. Voldemort used the words Avada Kedavra at least three more times on his sworn enemy. The Dark Lord killed Cedric Diggory using the deadly spell during the final task of the Triwizard Tournament. Voldemort used the curse again in the Forbidden Forest, and then again during the final duel that defeated Voldemort once and for all. Harry’s encounter with the Killing Curse in the Forbidden Forest has resulted in a lot of confusion, but there are essentially two main reasons in Harry Potter canon that explain why he didn’t die at Voldemort’s hands as an adult.
