At the end of Fantastic Beasts, Grindelwald gives Credence something that hes never used before: a wand. Dumbledore then channels his magic through it for the first time, resulting in an Apocalyptic level of destruction. Its destruction on a scale weve never seen from one source in the Harry Potter universe, leading some fans to theorize that Aurelius is the most powerful being weve seen in that universe yet. If Grindelwald knows this, it may explain why he puts such an importance on Credence. A wizard that powerful could do incredible things. Like, break a Blood Pact, for example.

It helps that the third in the Fantastic Beasts series looks to be set primarily at Hogwarts.
To celebrate the newest Harry Potter films, let’s reflect on the 20 years that have gone by since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone premiered in the US . For some, it’s still hard to believe we’re now at the point where, on New Year’s Day, HBO Max will bring back the main cast, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, for a reunion.

Fantastic Beasts 3 Trailer
The first Fantastic Beasts 3 trailer has been released, which gives us our first proper look at Mads Mikkelsen as the movie’s main antagonist, Gellert Grindelwald. “Our war with the muggles begins today,” he promises ominously in the trailer.
“The world as we know it is coming undone,” says Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore. “Grindelwald’s pulling it apart with hate.” Aware that he can’t take on the Dark wizard alone, Dumbledore entrusts Newt to lead a team of witches and wizards and one muggle on a dangerous mission. Expect encounters with beasts old and new and Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. And, of course, there are whatever secrets Dumbledore might be keeping it looks like we’re set to find out a lot of new information about the Hogwarts headmaster’s backstory and the skeletons in his closet.

With the imminent arrival of Fantastic Beasts, we decided to take a look at the Harry Potter characters we think could make a cameo in the film.
When the final installment of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, was released in theaters, many were sad to see the Boy Who Lived and all his friends go. The Ministry Of Magic
The Ministry Of Magic is a vital part of the wizarding community in HarryPotter, and Fantastic Beasts reveals that there are other institutions across the world that serve a similar purpose. The Magical Congress of the United States of America is the US equivalent.
Their power within the international political realms is clear to see and the Ministry of Magic actually gets a nod during some of MACUSA’s global meetings. Matching the UK and US systems respectively, the Ministry has a Prime Minister, MACUSA has a President.
Kendra Dumbledore Is Aurelius’ Mother
Then again, the timeframe of Kendra’s death and the birth of Aurelius are close enough that she can be his true mother. According to various records, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, she died at the hands of her daughter, Ariana, when Albus was out of the country for summer break.
Being a muggle-born wizard, conception to term would still be nine months. That means someone would have impregnated her the prior fall. Perhaps, after birth, Aurelius was magically protected so he wasn’t dealt the same curse as his “Squib” sister. It’s something to consider.

How Is Leta Lestrange Related To Bellatrix
The first Fantastic Beasts movie teased the appearance of Leta Lestrange , presumably a relation of the evil Bellatrix Lestrange and her husband Rodolphus Lestrange from the Harry Potter series. We learn that while Leta was Newts girlfriend at some point she is now engaged to his brother Theseus.
Fans might assume from her last name that Leta was intrigued by dark magic, like most of her relatives. But while Letas father was a truly horrible man who used the Imperius Curse to steal another mans wife and impregnate her, Leta the child born of that assault does not inherit her fathers evil inclinations.
Leta feels guilty for switching out her crying baby brother for another baby on a ship to America, just to get a moments rest. When the ship sank, Letas true brother went with it. The other baby survived with Leta. That means that Credence is not a part of the Lestrange family, despite what many in the film suspected. Leta proves her story with a Lestrange family tree that looks similar to the Black family tree featured in Order of the Phoenix.
And at the end of the movie, Leta sacrifices herself in an attempt to fight Grindelwald and save Newt and Theseus. Letas untimely death means that she cannot be a direct ancestor of Bellatrixs husband Rodolphus, since Leta did not have a childat least that we know of. Rodolphus must be descended from another branch of the Lestrange family.
Now That Johnny Depp Is Out End The Fantastic Beasts Series For Good
The third flick caused some chatter among Potterheads in November when Johnny Depp departed the Warner Bros. production. The 58-year-old actor, who played the villain Gellert Grindelwald, exited the series when he lost his libel case against UK publication the Sun after it published an article in 2018 that labeled him as a wife-beater.
Mads Mikkelsen is replacing Depp as Grindelwald, joining actors Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Jessica Williams.
The Pirates of the Caribbean megastar is still getting paid for the third Fantastic Beasts film despite his firing. Depp will be compensated more than $10 million for one tiny scene in the new movie.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore can finally reveal Harry Potter‘s darkest mystery surrounding Albus Dumbledore’s sister, Ariana. The third Fantastic Beasts movie will see Aberforth Dumbledore reunite with his older brother Albus, who is rallying everyone around him in his war against his friend-turned-foe Gellert Grindelwald . It has been a long time since the brothers spoke to each other, and this reunion is bound to explain the tragic story of Ariana Dumbledore.

Although Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore has been criticized for being a cheap trick meant to attract a wider audience with a fan favorite , the Dumbledore family secrets are crucial to explaining the war against Grindelwald. It’s important to explain Aberforth’s motivation in joining his brother in battle. And with the major plot twist that Credence is actually Aurelius Dumbledore, a fourth sibling, there must be one film in the five-movie franchise that clears Harry Potter‘s darkest mystery around Ariana and the Dumbledore family.

Percival Dumbledore Escaped Prison And Fathered Credence
Out of all the theories out there, this one seems the most feasible. Let’s face it, The Death Eaters aren’t the sharpest spirits to guard Azkaban. If Barty Crouch, Jr. and Sirius Black could escape, a wizard who is a Dumbledore could do this as well.
The only problem with Percival being Aurelius’ father is the timeframe. As is continually mentioned, Kendra Dumbledore supposedly died in 1899. If his birth in 1901 is true, then it would seem Percival had relations with another wizard.

Aberforth Knows The True Story
While Magical Beasts builds numerous theories about Aurelius around Albus and Grindelwald, there’s one person we feel who has the true answer. That’s “middle” brother Aberforth.
He’s the one who told the story about Albus’ friendship with Grindelwald and the death of their sister to Harry and his compatriots, so why wouldn’t he have the scoop about who Aurelius truly is. Unless someone put a confundus charm on him.
The Obscurus And Ariana Dumbledore
Heres where things get real interesting. In Fantastic Beasts, we learn that the Obscurus is an unstable, uncontrollable dark force that bursts out and attacks, from the result of a young magical person trying to suppress their magic.
Lets take it back to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Aberforth Dumbledore, Albus brother, explains what happened to their sister, Ariana who was bullied by Muggles for using magic:
It destroyed her what they did, she was never right again. She wouldnt use magic, but she couldnt get rid of it. It turned inward and drove her mad, it exploded out of her when she couldnt control it and at times she was strange and dangerous.
I dont know about you but that sure sounds like an Obscurus to me. That would explain why Grindlewood knows so much about them. He learned about the force during his relationship with Dumbledore and his encounter with Ariana. #Mindblown!

How Does The Timeline Work Now
The Crimes of Grindelwald doesnt just introduce new faces to the Potter world it brings back some old friends in young forms that dont really make a ton of sense.
Chief among those is the appearance by a young Professor McGonagall, whose brief scenes in Crimes of Grindelwald dont fit the franchises established timeline. McGonagalls birthday had previously been worked out by fans at the Harry Potter wiki to be in 1935, eight years after Crimes takes place. McGonagall herself notes in Order of the Phoenix that she had only been teaching at Hogwarts for thirty-nine years this December in 1995, putting her start date in 1956. And yet Crimes has her as an adult, already teaching at the school in 1927. The obvious answer is that the Professor McGonagall in the film is an older relative again, Rowling loves to bring in recognizable names from different generations except that the films credits and Rowlings official script both indicate that the character in the film is Minerva McGonagall. Thats confusing, but its unlikely to be a mistake its more likely that Rowling is changing the timeline somehow.
Grindelwald And Dumbledore’s Relationship
What’s going on here then? Well J.K Rowling confirmed Dumbledore is gay in a tweet awhile ago, it then followed that he had a relationship with Grindelwald.
The pair had been friends when at school. Grindelwald studied at Durmstrang, you remember that school right? It’s from the fourth book.
They planned to rule as nice leaders together, but that all fell apart. We only hear a bit about the duel in the Harry Potter books.
The duel led to the death of Dumbledore’s sister Ariana. Grindelwald left Britain, stole the Elder Wand and set up base in Europe,
Now in the Fantastic Beasts franchise we slowly learn about what happened in between them falling out.

Its an ever-growing one, too, with the Fantastic Beasts series bringing five more adventures to screen, all a world away from lives of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Here are all the cinematic entries of the Wizarding World to date, ranked from worst to best.
Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
In the biggest argument for why we should DEFINITELY have had a Marauders era spinoff, the introduction of David Thewlis and Gary Oldman makes this film an easy number one pick. The only film in the franchise not to include an iteration of big bad Voldemort, it’s a refreshing and entertaining adventure that explores the concepts of friendship, loyalty, found family, angst and, well, the healing qualities of a good chocolate bar.
It provides much-needed context for the Marauders era, with the interaction between veteran actors like Oldman, Thewlis, Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall providing a masterclass within the confines of what is genuinely just a really good time. You’ll very likely enjoy this movie regardless of your opinion on Harry Potter. Alfonso Cúaron’s entry into the series is cinematic , concise and character-driven, so for that we rightfully celebrate its superiority.

Fantastic Beasts 3 Release Date Is April 15 2022
The Fantastic Beasts 3 release date has been brought forward to in the US, and slightly earlier on in the UK. By the time the film hits cinemas, it will have been over three years since the debut of The Crimes of Grindelwald. Thats longer than the two years that elapsed between the first two Fantastic Beasts movies, but it wasnt all caused by COVID-19
Instead, Warner Bros announced as far back as April 2019 that the Fantastic Beasts 3 release date would be in late 2021. Why? The company line is artistry”. We are incredibly excited about and have confidence in the Fantastic Beasts series, said Warner Bros Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich. We all believe this release date will give the filmmakers time and space to allow their artistry to truly flourish and deliver the best possible film to our fans.
Come March 2020 and Fantastic Beasts 3 was filming and set for cinemas in November the following year. Then, COVID-19 struck. Filming was paused, but then the cameras started rolling again in September.
Warner Bros was seemingly pulling out all the stops to ensure that Fantastic Beasts 3 release date remained in 2021. But then, another blow to production: Johnny Depp was asked to leave the cast following a public court battle with a UK newspaper. The fallout left the studio moving the release date to 2022.
