The final movie so far in the Harry Potter world hit theaters in 2018. This was the second movie in the Fantastic Beasts series. While Newt Scamander was still the main protagonist, there was a lot here to set up a battle mentioned in the original Harry Potter movies between Albus Dumbledore and his greatest rival, Gellert Grindelwald.

Hogwarts Cake Marks 20 Years Of Harry Potter Movies
A scale model cake of Hogwarts castle has gone on display to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of the first Harry Potter film.
The cake, which is 6ft wide, 5ft tall and weighs 100kg , was unveiled at Warner Bros Studio Tour in Leavesden, Watford, where much of the franchise was filmed.
It took 320 hours to create and was made with vegan-friendly ingredients.
The cake was donated to One Vision, a local charity fighting food poverty.
Enoch Kanagaraj, founder and chief executive of One Vision, said: “Hundreds of our service users and key workers will be delighted to receive a piece.”
The cake was created by artist and cake sculptor Michelle Wibowo to mark 20 years since the UK and Irish release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
“This has undoubtedly been my biggest challenge yet and has involved many long days and late nights, but it’s been worth it to see the reaction today as the fans witnessed it for the first time and were served the first slices,” said Ms Wibowo.

In 2000, after a seven-month search, lead actor Daniel Radcliffe was discovered by producer David Heyman and writer Steve Kloves seated just behind them in a theatre. Also in 2000, the then unknown British actors Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were selected from thousands of auditioning children to play the roles of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively. Their only previous acting experience was in school plays. Grint was eleven years old and Watson ten at the time they were cast.

In retrospect, the CGI is clunky, and the one-liners are too cute by half. Still, Christopher Columbus was also able to capture, well, the magic of that first introduction into Hogwarts. At the time of its premiere, Sorcerers success was no guarantee. Fantasy adaptations like The Golden Compass and Eragon had recently flopped at the box office. But Columbus movies managed to do right by the books: Hogwarts awed quidditch looked exactly as fans had imagined it and the school uniforms became instantly iconic. Columbus team also made some fantastic casting decisions that would pay off years later, like recruiting Alan Rickman to play Severus Snape and Maggie Smith to tackle Minerva McGonagall. Harry Potter is an orphaned boy brought up by his unkind Muggle aunt and uncle. At the age of eleven, half-giant Rubeus Hagrid informs him that he is actually a wizard and that his parents were murdered by an evil wizard named Lord Voldemort. Voldemort also attempted to kill one-year-old Harry on the same night, but his killing curse mysteriously rebounded and reduced him to a weak and helpless form. Harry Potter Director Would Like His Three
Harry Potter director Chris Columbus has said that he’d like to see the release of the original, three-hour cut of the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone , which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
“We knew that the film worked because we did a couple of previews,” Columbus said in an interview with The Wrap. “Particularly a Chicago preview where our first cut was a three-hour cut. Parents afterwards said it was too long, the kids said it was too short. I thought, well, the kids presumably have a shorter attention span so this is a good thing.”
The theatrical cut has a runtime of two hours and 32 minutes, and one of the things included in that missing half an hour is Peeves. A fan favorite in the Harry Potter books, Peeves is a poltergeist who haunts Hogwarts. He was played by Rik Mayall in scenes from the first movie that didn’t make the final cut.
When The Wrap reporter said hed like to see the three-hour version released on the big screen, the director said: “I would too. We have to put Peeves back in the movie, who was cut from the movie!”
Columbus directed the first two Harry Potter movies and was a producer on the third. He’s also helmed movies like Home Alone , Mrs. Doubtfire, and Rent.
