Early the next day, a concerned Harry sends a letter to Sirius claiming he is fine and that Sirius won’t have to return to Britain. Over the next couple of weeks, Harry fights off his concerns for Sirius while waiting for Hedwig to get back. In Defence Against the Dark Arts, Moody has his students practise resisting the Imperius Curse. Only Harry is able to resist it, despite slightly bruising his knees in the process it takes him a couple more tries before he can completely resist it. During Transfiguration, Professor McGonagall explains to her fourth-year students, as she assigns them extra homework, that this is the time for them to start preparing for the O.W.L. examinations, which will occur at the end of their next year.

On 30 October, Harry again hears Fred and George Weasley talking: this time, he hears that they are talking about sending a letter to a certain person. The trio talk with the twins about the Triwizard Tournament, and Hermione brings up house-elves. Fred and George suggest she should visit the Hogwarts Kitchen just to see for herself how happy they are, despite Hermione’s insistence that they are being brainwashed.

Rowling has said it is unlikely she will write any more books in the Harry Potter series. In October 2007, she stated that her future work was unlikely to be in the fantasy genre. On 1 October 2010, in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Rowling stated a new book on the saga might happen.

In 2007, Rowling stated that she planned to write an encyclopaedia of Harry Potter‘s wizarding world consisting of various unpublished material and notes. Any profits from such a book would be given to charity. During a news conference at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre in 2007, Rowling, when asked how the encyclopaedia was coming along, said, “It’s not coming along, and I haven’t started writing it. I never said it was the next thing I’d do.” At the end of 2007, Rowling said that the encyclopaedia could take up to ten years to complete.

In June 2011, Rowling announced that future Harry Potter projects, and all electronic downloads, would be concentrated in a new website, called Pottermore. The site includes 18,000 words of information on characters, places and objects in the Harry Potter universe.

The fire in the goblet had just turned red again. Sparks were flying out of it. A long flame shot suddenly into the air, and borne upon it was another piece of parchment… And then Dumbledore cleared his throat and read out – Harry Potter.

The students sit down at their tables , and the Welcoming Feast begins. Hagrid, Ludo Bagman, and Barty Crouch all arrive late. After the feast, Dumbledore announces that Bagman and Crouch, who helped organise the tournament, will also serve as judges alongside the three headmasters to evaluate the Champions’ performances. Dumbledore then announces that the three champions will be chosen by the Goblet of Fire, an enchanted artefact. Students must drop their names into the Goblet, and the Goblet chooses the most worthy entrants to compete in three dangerous tasks. Dumbledore finishes by stating the champions will be selected the following night during Hallowe’en. On the way out, the Durmstrang headmaster Karkaroff gives Harry a look of displeasure before Moody forces him to move along. The Goblet is placed in the Great Hall and an Age Line is drawn around the Goblet to prevent underage students from submitting their names.

Shortly after the match, Draco Malfoy insults and provokes Fred, George and Harry. Harry and George attack him, but all three have their broomsticks confiscated and are given lifetime bans by Umbridge. They are replaced by Andrew Kirke, Jack Sloper, and Ginny Weasley, respectively. That night, they discover that Hagrid has returned.

Chapter : Luna Lovegood

The girl gave off an aura of distinct dottiness. Perhaps it was the fact that she had stuck her wand behind her left ear for safekeeping, or that she had chosen to wear a necklace of butterbeer caps, or that she was reading a magazine upside down.

On the day of departure to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, the group is rushing to get ready as the children will be taken there under guard per Moody’s recommendation. Mrs Weasley is angry with Fred and George for bewitching their trunks instead of trying to carry them downstairs and knocking Ginny off-balance. Harry is assigned to go with Molly and Tonks. Sirius accompanies them in his Animagus form. After the Hogwarts Express departs, with Ron and Hermione having to go to the prefects’ carriage, Harry shares a compartment with Ginny, Neville Longbottom, and a girl from Ginny’s year named Luna Lovegood, who is a Ravenclaw student. Later Ron and Hermione show up and tell them who the new prefects are for the other houses, including Draco Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson for Slytherin. Luna is reading a tabloid magazine called The Quibbler, of which, she tells them, her father is the editor, after Hermione makes an insensitive comment towards the magazine.

Inspiration And Mother’s Death

Rowling worked as a researcher and bilingual secretary in London for Amnesty International, then moved with her boyfriend to Manchester where she worked at the Chamber of Commerce. In 1990, she was on a four-hour delayed train trip from Manchester to London when the idea “came fully formed” into her mind for a story of a young boy attending a school of wizardry. When she reached her Clapham Junction flat, she began to write immediately.

In December 1990, Rowling’s mother Anne died after suffering from multiple sclerosis for ten years. Rowling was writing Harry Potter at the time and had never told her mother about it. Her mother’s death heavily affected Rowling’s writing, and she channelled her own feelings of loss by writing about Harry’s grief in greater detail in the first book.

Your father knew what he was getting into, and he won’t thank you for messing things up for the Order!” said Sirius angrily in his turn. “This is how it is – this is why you’re not in the Order – you don’t understand – there are things worth dying for!
Sirius, to Fred and George.

Critically injured, Arthur is taken to St Mungo’s. He survives the attack, but is required to take a Blood-Replenishing Potion at regular intervals. He shares the ward with a man who had been bitten by a werewolf and a woman with a massive chunk out of her leg who refused to tell the Healers what had bitten her, arousing suspicions she had been handling something illegal.

Before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, we thought Rons jealousy toward Harry was purely because of the latters achievements. But the Horcrux showed us Rons worst fears and one of the main ones was where his own mother preferred Harry as a son over him.

Why Did Ron Get Mad At Harry

Harry is mad at Ron because he thinks is jealous, and Harry thinks that is childish. He is angry at everyone for not believing him, but mainly at Ron because Harry expected Ron to believe him without questioning him. He even explicitly states his relief that Hermione accepted his story no questions asked.

Difference Between The Childrens And Adults Editions Of Harry Potter Books

There are fictional books aimed mostly at children. The plot centers around a young wizard called Harry Potter, who, along with his two best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, attempts to defeat the cruel and sinister villain Lord Voldemort, who is also a wizard and wishes to control the whole Wizarding universe and rule over the non-magical people.

Harry Potter and his friends are Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry scholars. Even though it was written for teenagers, the characters and story have a dark feel to them and are equally exciting for adult readers.

As the book became popular with both adults and children, the publishers and the author agreed to print books with two separate covers.

The cover drawings on the childrens editions of the books are very colorful and vibrant, watercolor illustrations, while the adult versions feature more sophisticated depictions using darker and black colors. This step was reached after the publication of the fifth edition.

Older readers feel uneasy reading Harry Potter in public, such as in a café, library, or on trains while commuting.

So it was a marketing choice to release two separate book covers, one for children and one for adults. There is no distinction between the two versions in terms of text or plot.

They are the same. Another distinction between the childrens and adult versions is the font size. The font size in the adult edition is smaller than in the childrens version.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

The third book in the series introduces Sirius Black, a deranged mass murderer whos just escaped from the wizard prison of Azkaban. As a result, swarms of Dementors dark, faceless beings that suck the soul out of their victims and serve as the guards of Azkaban infiltrate Hogwarts to patrol for Black, whos supposedly after Harry next. To make matters worse, our normally steadfast hero has a bad reaction to the Dementors, which cause him to faint on a train and even lose a critical Quidditch match.

Again, though, its not all doom and gloom. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban also features Professor Remus Lupin, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and a school friend of Harrys late father. Lupin and Harry quickly forge a father-son-like relationship themselves, and Lupin teaches Harry the Patronus Charm to protect himself from Dementors.

Meanwhile, Ron and Hermione are squabbling even more than usual over their respective pets, Crookshanks the cat and Scabbers the rat. But what seems like a lighthearted subplot turns out to be a major factor in one of the biggest twists of the series, revealed in the last few chapters and which naturally involves Black and Lupin as well. Oh, and hippogriffs and time traveling, in case that wasnt enough to sell you on it.

Voldemort challenges Harry to a duel. After Harry refuses to bow to the Dark Lord, Voldemort uses the Imperius Curse on Harry to force him to. Though Harry gives in the first time, the second time he manages to shake the curse off, much to the astonishment of the Death Eaters present.

When the duel begins, something miraculous happens. Voldemort and Harry’s wands are “brothers”, due to the fact that their wands’ cores are both feathers from the same phoenix. As the wands spells meet in the air and interlock, a Priori Incantatem effect occurs. This causes the spirit echoes of Voldemort’s victims, including Harry’s parents, to spill out from his wand. The echoes momentarily protect Harry, allowing him to grab the portkey and escape to Hogwarts with Cedric’s body.

Over the coming weeks, even with help from Hermione and Ron as well as the library’s resources , Harry struggles to think of a way to breathe underwater for an hour. Two days before the second task is to start, Sirius’s response comes in. Sirius wants to know when their next trip to Hogsmeade is.

On the last night before the task, the trio are continuing their research in the school library when Fred and George appear to inform them that Professor McGonagall has summoned Ron and Hermione. Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry and friends return to Hogwarts with a bang the bang of a flying Ford Anglia as it crashes into the Whomping Willow, that is. After being spotted by Muggles and narrowly avoiding expulsion, youd think that the rest of Harrys second year would be smooth sailing in comparison right?

Wrong. When the school caretakers cat is found petrified along with a bone-chilling message that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened, fear and suspicions start to arise and of course, only worsen when students start getting petrified too. Nobody can figure out who the culprit is, only that he refers to himself as the Heir and seems to be on the warpath.

But as our young heroes know well by now, if you want a mystery solved right, you have to do it yourself. Which they do through a combination of Polyjuice potion brewing, mysterious flashbacks provided by a sentient journal, and a truly horrific excursion to see a giant spider called Aragog. The book culminates in a visit to the titular chamber, which lies underneath Hogwarts and contains yet another deadly threat that Harry must face.

But of course, this being an early Potter book, its not all din and danger. Comic relief comes in the form of moronic, egocentric professor Gilderoy Lockhart, and toilet ghost Moaning Myrtle who, in true Rowling fashion, ends up being key to the central plot twist of the story.
