Daniel Radcliffe Gives Next Harry Potter Movie Update
Daniel Radcliffe has shared his feelings about starring in an adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Although Daniel Radcliffe was reunited with hisco-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint during the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwartsspecial, it doesn’t sound like he’s too interested in returning to star in any further films set in the Wizarding World anytime soon.
Despite rumors swirling late last year about a possible adaptation of the play, Radcliffe told The New York Times that a Cursed Child movie was “not something I’m really interested in doing right now”.
“This isn’t the answer that anybody’s going to want, but I think I was so able to go back and enjoy it because it’s not a part of my day-to-day life anymore”, he said, continuing: “I’m getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of Potter okay and I’m really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life.
“I’m never going to say never, but the Star Wars guys had like 30, 40 years before they went back. For me, it’s only been 10. It’s not something I’m really interested in doing right now”, he added.
The play is set 19 years after the final Harry Potter book and focuses on a grown-up Harry working at the Ministry of Magic and his son who has just begun classes at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Everyone came into the Wizarding World through the Harry Potter books and movies, which introduced us to a gifted 11-year-old, his friends Ron and Hermione, and their hallowed school of magic, Hogwarts. Watching the Harry Potter movies in order, seeing the story unfold chronologically in-universe, used to be as easy as finding the one where Daniel Radcliffe looks youngest and starting from there.
But the series has expanded now with the Fantastic Beasts movies, set some 70 years before The Sorcerers Stone. So to watch the Harry Potter movies in order, your journey now begins with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, set in 1926 and starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scarmander. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is set in 1927. The third Fantastic Beasts intends to release July 2022, with two more movies to close out the Scarmander and Grindelwald saga.
Then the story of Harry himself begins, starting with Sorcerers Stone and concluding in the second-part of The Deathly Hallows, for eight Certified Fresh movies in a row. Update: What We Now Know About A New Film
Now that some time has gone on, there still may not be many updates about the rumor of this new film, but there has been more speculation on when it will be happening, if it does. The franchise is currently in the middle of production on their 5-movie prequel series, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. According to Express, these films wont be completed until the middle of the 2020s. This means that we would not see a film for Harry Potter And The Cursed Child until at least 2030.
While that seems like just too long to wait, it would put the original cast at the right age to reprise their original roles, if they should be interested. Ultimately, the decision is going to come down to J.K. Rowling and where she wants this film to go.

Its been reported that the movie will be set several years after the events of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and will be set in both Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Berlin, Germany in the lead up to the Wizarding Worlds involvement in World War II.
David Yates is set to return as the director on the eleventh film in the Harry Potter universe. Hell be using a screenplay written by J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves. In front of the camera, Redmayne and Law are returning as Newt and Dumbledore, respectively, and theyll be joined by Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, as well as Ezra Miller.

Will Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Be Made Into A Film
- There are reportedly no plans to adapt Harry Potter and the Cursed Child into a movie at the time of writing.
While fans may be clamouring for Harry Potter to return to the big screen, according to the Express, there are reportedly no plans for a Cursed Child movie for the time being.
However, speaking to the publication, Harry Potter producer Lionel Wigram said: I think would make a great movie. Maybe at some point, shell be ready to do that. I think its got a wonderful, long, theatrical runit works brilliantly as a piece of theatre.
In the same article, the Express reports that Warner Bros stated that: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a stage play, with no plans for there to be a film.
This position seems to remain unchanged with Warner Bros focusing on the five-film Fantastic Beasts series, three instalments of which are yet to be released.

The teaser confirms all of the names of the people taking part in the event and pushes that the special will arrive as the clock strikes midnight on New Years Day in the US.
The official release for the trailer adds: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson join other esteemed cast members across all eight Harry Potter films as they travel back to Hogwarts for the first time to celebrate the anniversary of the franchises first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, which premiered 20 years ago this year.
The highly-anticipated retrospective will be a capstone event of the holiday season, dropping as the clock strikes midnight on New Years Day, Jan. 1, on HBO Max.

Fantastic Beasts 3 4 And 5 Cast: Who’s Coming Back For Fantastic Beasts 3
Johnny Depp will not be reprising his role as Grindelwald after he was asked to resign from the role by Warner Bros. Depp had shot one scene as Grindelwald for the third movie, but we don’t know if this will end up in the movie or not.
The role of Grindelwald will now be played by Doctor Strange and Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen. It’s not yet clear how the recast will be handled in the movie, but given the world of Harry Potter, it could easily be put down to a potion, accident or magical disguise.
Mikkelsen revealed that he didn’t talk to Depp about the role and he took it on because his daughter is a fan of the Harry Potter franchise. Don’t go expecting a Depp impression from Mikkelsen though.
“I have been a fan of Johnny Depp since I saw him as a young man, and to try to bring his intensity and his way of doing it into my work is a no-go. I have to find my own, because his is unique, and I just have to let that be, and find a different path,” he said.
As for the rest of the characters, not everyone survived The Crimes of Grindelwald, so raise a glass to Leta Lestrange who was tragically killed by Grindelwald after helping Newt and the others escape.
This doesn’t completely rule out us seeing Leta again in the series, but it would have to take the form of a flashback.
Eddie Redmayne will be back as Newt Scamander and he’ll be joined by the likes of Katherine Waterston , Jude Law , Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol .

In addition to Fantastic Beasts 3 there is reportedly another Harry Potter project in the works, instead of taking a theatrical route, this one — if it actually pans out — will be coming to HBO Max in the form of a television series. In January 2021, The Hollywood Reporter released a report stating that very early discussions were happening for a live-action series set within the Harry Potter universe, but there has been no word as to what the story will be about or even a confirmation from Warner Bros, who has denied that any Harry Potter TV show is currently in development at the studio or HBO Max
