Early Career At Hogwarts
- Dumbledore: “I had proven, as a very young man, that power was my weakness and temptation. I was safer at Hogwarts. I think I was a good teacher.”
- Harry Potter: “You were the best.”
- A discussion in limbo regarding power and leadership
Shortly thereafter, Albus, who had been exchanging owls with the famous researcher as far back when he had been a student at Hogwarts, travelled to France and spent some time in Paris studying the ancient art and science of alchemy under the tutelage of Nicholas Flamel. He presumably did so in order to both give his brother some space, as well as to get away for a bit and spend his time grieving more productively than he otherwise would have done simply wallowing in his own misery. It is unknown when exactly he returned to Britain, but around the time he did, Albus had become intrigued with the study of dragon’s blood, and was ultimately credited with the discovery of no less than twelve new uses for it; ) an accomplishment that earned him widespread recognition and ultimately played no small role in the subsequent offer he received of a teaching position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Having always had a deep fondness for the old school and felt drawn towards teaching even as a student, Albus was happy to accept.

Why Harry Potter Movies Changed Dumbledore’s Death
The Harry Potter movies made some changes to the biggest scenes from the books, including Dumbledore’s death and actually made it worse.
Although the Harry Potter movie series did a good job in adapting J.K. Rowlings Wizarding World to the big screen, it had to either omit or change many scenes to better fit the format and also for dramatic purposes. Such is the case of the death of Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which was changed in ways that fans werent totally on board with and that actually hurt the scene.
Readers around the world were introduced to the Wizarding World in 1997, when Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone was published. The book was followed by six more, telling the story of the boy who lived and his battle against the darkest wizard of all: Lord Voldemort. The books were later adapted into eight movies , bringing the world of Harry Potter to a new audience. As it happens with every cinematic adaptation of a book, many characters, scenes, and events were left out of the movies, and some others were changed for different reasons.
One of the most emotional moments in the Harry Potter series is Dumbledores death. The beloved Hogwarts headmaster and the one wizard Voldemort was afraid of met his fate in the sixth book, but his death in the movie was very different to the one in the source material, and it actually hurt the original scene.

Magical Abilities And Skills
Dumbledore casting a very powerful firestorm
- “Albus Dumbledore is the greatest sorcerer in the world.”
- Harry Potter regarding Dumbledore’s magical skill
Dumbledore was an outstandingly talented wizard, even while still only a student of Hogwarts, excelling in many fields of magic to the point of being recognised by his friend Elphias Doge as the most brilliant student to ever attend the school, possibly rivalled only by the prodigiously brilliant Tom Riddle, and attaining many awards and prizes that required incredible magical capability to obtain. As an adult, Dumbledore had become an extraordinarily powerful and accomplished wizard of nearly unrivalled abilities and powers, to the point that he was admired and feared by even others of outstanding magical talent, considered to be the greatest wizard of all time by many. Indeed, Dumbledore was the only wizard capable of defeating Gellert Grindelwald and later forcing Lord Voldemort himself on the defensive.

It Released The Elder Wand
The Elder Wand, another of the Deathly Hallows, was the most powerful wand in existence. Passed on through battle, Dumbledore had commanded it for over 50 years after his defeat of Grindelwald in 1945.;
Voldermort knew that he couldnt control the wand unless his former headmaster was defeated. Dumbledore knew that he had to avoid defeat to ensure that the wand stayed out of the Dark Wizards hands. Events didnt go as either of them planned.
Dumbledores quest for Voldemorts Horcruxes had severely weakened the old wizard. Before Snape seized on Malfoys hesitation and killed Dumbledore, the young wizard had already managed to disarm his headmaster. In doing so, Malfoy unwittingly became master of the Elder Wand. The events of Deathly Hallows suggest that this couldnt possibly be part of Dumbledores plan, since it eventually led to Snapes death as Voldermort sought control of the wand.
However, this proved to be a misdirection that kept that power from Voldermorts grasp even after he had retrieved the Elder Wand from Dumbledores grave. Voldemort hadnt realized that Draco had been able to disarm Dumbledore. Harry Potter later took control of the Elder Wand when he defeated Draco during the Battle of Hogwarts.

Ron Weasley And Hermione Granger
- “Headmaster, you’ve got to stop them. They’ve got the wrong man.”
- Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley regarding Sirius
Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger were Harry Potter‘s best friends and, like Harry, they thought Dumbledore was a great wizard. Dumbledore liked them too, despite that he wasn’t as close to them as he was to Harry.
After his death, he left Ron his Deluminator and Hermione his copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. These gifts were proven very useful, as Ron abandoned Harry and Hermione formerly to find his family, and, when he wanted to come back to Harry and Hermione, the Deluminator showed him the way. The trio also read the Tales of Beedle the Bard and learned about the Deathly Hallows. Harry, Ron and Hermione also visited Dumbledore’s portrait, after the Battle of Hogwarts.

Why Does Dumbledore Have To Die
Due to the fact that he had a keen mind and legendary power, Dumbledore became the only wizard that Voldemort ever feared. As he was about to die by a cursed ring, Dumbledore planned his own death with Severus Snape. Per the plan, Dumbledore was killed by Snape during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower.
Why Did Dumbledore Trust Snape So Much
Dumbledores relationship with Snape was open and close but he didnt trust Snape completely. Snape felt responsible for Harry Potters mother, for her death caused by Lord Voldemort. He had no one else to turn to, except Dumbledore, to keep Lily safe.;
This was the right reason and a proper time for Dumbledore to take advantage of Snapes sense of guilt and initiated him into the Order of the Phoenix.
So, Snape became a double agent. As a spy for the Order of the Phoenix, he continuously updated Dumbledore about the movements and acts of the Death Eaters.
On the other hand, Snape did a great job in the role of Lord Voldemorts spy, supplying him with all of the information about the Order. He provided only the information received from Dumbledore.;
As we said before, Dumbledores confidence in Snape was not unconditional. Dumbledore did not fully trust Snape to reduce any damage that could occur if Snape was somehow compromised.
Snape did not like Dumbledores secrecy and was offended by his lack of faith in his abilities. What bothered him the most is the fact he had been used in Harry Potters destruction, whose mother was the love of his life.
After the Marvolo Gaunts curse and the agreement he made with Snape to kill him, Dumbledore finally granted him the post of the future Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts.

Can Professor Snape Speak Parseltongue
Snape might have wondered if Harry had Salazar Slytherin as an ancestor, since he could speak parseltongue, and being able to speak to snakes is considered hereditary. And since Snape is a Slytherin House devotée, he likely knew James and thus Harry, had no more Slytherin blood in them than Godric Gryffindor did.
James And Lily Potter
- “James had shown it to me just a few days previously. It explained much of his undetected wrongdoing at school”
- Albus Dumbledore to Harry Potter
Dumbledore first met James Potter and Lily Evans during their first year at Hogwarts, where he was the Headmaster. Dumbledore had a good relationship with both of them, knowing them both to be pure souls. James had lent Dumbledore his Invisibility Cloak one of the three Deathly Hallows. After James’s death Dumbledore returned the cloak to James’s son, Harry.
When the Potters became Voldemort’s targets due to a prophecy made about their son and the Dark Lord, Dumbledore attempted to protect them by casting the Fidelius Charm and offering to be their Secret Keeper, but the role of Secret Keeper went instead to Peter Pettigrew, which turned out to be a fatal mistake, as Peter turned out to be a spy, and he betrayed Lily and James to Voldemort, who killed them. Dumbledore was very saddened by their deaths and dedicated the rest of his life to protecting their son, Harry, without giving him any happiness in his childhood. He often told Harry about the great goodness of his parents, and repeatedly consoled him with the assurance that his parents would never ever truly leave him because of their love for him. Dumbledore also believed that Harry’s love for his parents was his greatest power.
It Proved That Voldemort Could Trust Snape
Keeping the Elder Wand out of Voldemorts grasp was essential, but the most immediate concern was protecting Severus Snape. Yes, Snape is later confirmed to be a double agent. Believing that the Dark Lord was starting to lose his trust in Snape, Dumbledores sacrifice provided the ultimate proof of Snapes loyalty. When the headmaster pleads with Snape just before his death, it convinces the reluctant wizard to stick to their plan and keep the secret safe.
In Half-Blood Prince, the act convinced everyoneeven us. It made more sense when the identity of the Half-Blood Prince was revealed shortly after Dumbledores death. As the son of the witch Eileen Prince and Muggle Tobias Snape, it was none other than Severus Snape. Dumbledores death may dominate the sixth book, but it was about Snape all along, and for the time being, the plot to defeat Voldermort was safe with him.
Why Harry Potter Recast Dumbledore After Chamber Of Secrets
Albus Dumbledore was a major character in the Harry Potter series, but the role went through a recast early in the franchise, and here’s why.
Outside of the young trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, Albus Dumbledore served one of the most crucial roles in the Harry Potter franchise – but the character was recast after the second movie.;Dumbledore was initially played by Irish actor Richard Harris when J.K. Rowling‘s books were adapted into movies by Warner Bros. Pictures. Following the second installment, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Dumbledore was recast, and here’s why.
When the role of the Hogwarts Headmaster was initially being cast ahead of 2001’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, actors;Patrick McGoohan and Sean Connery were targeted for the part. The key role eventually went to Harris, and the actor expected to play the part throughout the entire film franchise. He initially hesitated to take the role due to his health, but Harris was encouraged by his young granddaughter. Harris perfectly embodied the exceptional wizard and Harry’s mentor in the first two installments of the franchise.

Harry Potter And The Half
In the sixth book, Dumbledore fetches Harry from Privet Drive and takes him to persuade Horace Slughorn to rejoin the Hogwarts staff. Harry notices that Dumbledore’s right hand is shrivelled and black. During the school year, Dumbledore teaches Harry of events in Voldemort’s past that he feels are of immense importance. Using the Pensieve, they visit the memories of others, which contain important information about Voldemort’s life and his genocidal rise to power. While using the pensieve, Harry sees a vision of Dumbledore’s first encounter with the young Tom Riddle; Dumbledore had known from the beginning that the boy was dangerous, but believed that Hogwarts would change him.
It is learned that Voldemort created six Horcruxes to gain immortality and that they must all be destroyed before Harry goes after the final piece of Voldemort’s soul in the Dark Lord’s body. Harry also repeatedly warns Dumbledore in most of their lessons that school bully Draco Malfoy is working for Voldemort. Dumbledore refuses to take any action against Draco, and instead tells Harry that he already knows more about what is happening than Harry does.
The Killing Of Dumbledore By Snape
There were several speculations on the rationale behind the killing of Dumbledore by Snape. Experts eventually believed that Dumbledore wanted to preserve Malfoys soul and want Voldemort to trust Snape fully; hence he asked Snape to go ahead with the killing.
Aside from killing Dumbledore, viewers believed that Snape must have been terrified by his past. That was why he approached Dumbledore when he admitted his atrocities and pleaded with him to preserve the Potters lives. In return for this gesture, Snape decided to pledge allegiance to Dumbledore alongside the Phoenixs order, which made him a double agent.
Being a powerful wizard, Snape used his power of Occlumency to hide his true identity and betrayal from Voldemort. He was, though, more loyal to the good side, his forage into the dark side put him in serious trouble against Voldemort on several occasions.
