The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter In Islands Of Adventure Orlando

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios in Florida may be the most interesting Harry Potter-themed park in the world. Aside from featuring replicas from the movies which are available in all of the other Wizarding World parks, this one has a few exclusive attractions.

The first one is Diagon Alley. The most notable set piece in this recreation of one of the most interesting parts of the wizarding world is the Gringotts bank.

The recreation features a roller coaster ride in the dark showing the viewers around the Gringotts bank using 3D technology. The ride is also narrated by Bill Weasley.

One of the most memorable parts of this attraction is the dragon on top of the Gringotts bank that breaths fire every now and then.

The thing that makes this expanded set truly special is the fact that it was built farther away from the replica of the Hogwarts castle while the park was expanding. This provides the visitors with a truly unique experience of actually boarding a Hogwarts Express replica which will take them to the portion of the park which features the rest of the Wizarding World.

The second thing which makes this park special is a ride called Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. This rollercoaster is located in the Hogsmead part of the park.

The ride is one of the most popular ones in the entire park and has received critical acclaim from both officials and visitors.

But First A Little Refresher On How Diagon Alley Differs From Hogsmeade From The Books:

Both are wizarding settlements, both have shops selling magical goodies and both have insanely fun rides you could try out.

The difference between them, however, begins in the movies. Diagon Alley is basically a shopping mall/alley.

There are restaurants selling robes, books, ingredients to make potions, magical instruments, pets and of course, wands. There are bars and restaurants dotted around the shopping area, selling all kinds of liquor and food.

Diagon Alley basically is everything a wizard could want and anything a Muggle could dream of.

Oh, and it has a bank to help you easily acquire more Galleons to spend!

Harry first went to Diagon Alley to pick up supplies for his first year at Hogwarts. Ever since it has been the site of many adventures for him and his friends.

Hogsmeade on the other hand is a village.

In fact, it is the only all-wizard village in Britain! Along with the iconic quaint Old English houses, it contains all the usual British village must-haves coffee shops, cobbled streets, a good bar and a shady bar, the occasional snowfall and even a creepy haunted house!

Harrys first visit to the village was the highlight of the Prisoner of Azkaban. I mean, Malfoys face when he got a face full of snow? It was priceless.

Hogsmeade has seen the emotional side of Harry Potter his first date, first DA meeting, last time talking to Dumbledoreokay, Im going to leave it at that or Ill tear up.

Flight Of The Hippogriff

Coming in at number 5, the worst Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios is the Flight of the Hippogriff. If youre a Harry Potter film fan, The Flight of the Hippogriff is a great ride for you! This low-key Harry Potter ride at Universal takes you for a flight around Hagrids pumpkin patch. Board a hippogriff shaped train and swoop, dive and soar as you listen to Hagrids special instructions on magical creatures.

Rank: 5 The Flight of the Hippogriff is ranked at number 5 for Universal Studios Harry Potter rides for a few reasons. This is a coaster-type ride curated for smaller witches and wizards, making it not so thrilling, but very entertaining and perfect for kids. We love the overall design of this ride, but the other Harry Potter rides have it beat! With that being said, you get some of the best views of the outside of the Hogwarts Castle, which makes it totally worth it.

Harry Potter World California

California is easy to get to. Flights from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane go to Los Angeles daily on Qantas, Virgin Australia, Delta and United. The flight time is reasonable 14 hours from Australias east coast.

Harry Potter World is at Universal Studios Hollywood. The theme park is just 20 minutes from West Hollywood, less if you fly on a Nimbus 2000. It is much closer than Disneyland.

Inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter California, kids can explore Hogsmeade and Hogwarts and take a ride on the popular Flight of the Hippogriff rollercoaster.

Kids can explore Dumbledores office, the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, the Gryffindor common room, the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts castle.

Kids can buy wands at Ollivanders and cast spells all over the land. Harry Potter World has two new spell locations this year, taking the total number in California to 15.

Make sure you watch the Triwizard Spirit Rally. You will see performances from Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang students ahead of the Triwizard Tournament.

Dining options include the Hogs Head and the Three Broomsticks. Butterbeer is essential. We also recommend trying the pumpkin juice.

What Time Does Harry Potter World Open

The first step is to decide how early to arrive at Universal Studios for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter? We always recommend to arrive as early as possible to avoid long lines later on in the day. This is true even if you are spending a few days at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Typically, the Wizarding World Hours are the same as park open hours, meaning, as soon as the gates are open, guests are allowed to enter.

This is why Early Park Admission is so important as it allows you entry into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter up to one hour before regular park guests! Your family can hop on a ride such as Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts and save two to three hours later on in the day.

In the late 1990s, Universal Parks and Resorts began discussing the possibility of purchasing the license for Harry Potter to create and theme amusement park rides. Many people thought Islands of Adventure needed some new life breathed into it. It was number 16 on the list of most popular Orlando theme parks. That is something Universal was not proud of. Harry Potter fans are coming in droves to enter this new attraction. On opening day, crowds gathered outside for hours in advance just to be among the first to experience The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in person.

You really feel like you are in the wand store where Harry and his special wand found each other. What an experience! Even though the crowds are usually dense and the lines are long, dont get discouraged. If you are a Harry Potter fan, or even a casual fan, this is worth the wait. So far, there are only three major rides in this section of Islands of Adventure, so you only have to suffer the really long lines three times. Universal has done its best to make the waiting experience as entertaining as possible. There is really a lot to see while moving through the lines.

Is Ollivanders In Hogsmeade

But the biggest souvenir, the one that is almost impossible to turn down, is a wand. Especially if the wand has chosen you! That means that youll probably want to visit the park that has Ollivanders Wand Shop. Lucky for you, there is an Ollivanders in each of the parks when comparing Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade! Although book purists may be quick to point out that, technically, Ollivanders is only located in Diagon Alley, youll find a wand shop at either park. So the Hogsmeade Diagon Alley debate wont be decided by a wand!
