Bankruptcy And Threat Of Closure

By January 1978, the Music Hall was in debt, and officials stated that it could not remain open after April. Alton Marshall, president of Rockefeller Center, announced that due to a projected loss of $3.5 million for the upcoming year, Radio City Music Hall would close on April 12. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

Or as its known colloquially, Harry Potter and the Worst Camping Trip Ever. After the events of the previous book culminating in another major characters heartbreaking death Harry vows to personally destroy every one of Voldemorts Horcruxes. These Horcruxes are objects containing pieces of Voldemorts soul, rendering him effectively immortal. Which means that if Harry wants even a chance at killing Voldemort face-to-face, hell need to locate and eliminate the Horcruxes first. Its this daunting prospect that leads to the Worst Camping Trip Ever though of course, its brightened somewhat by the presence of the ever-faithful Ron and Hermione.

To be fair, the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows arent as quotidianly miserable as the events of OotP at least we know the characters are suffering for a greater purpose. But that doesnt stop this from being, as you might expect, the darkest book in the series. From the corrupting influence of a locket that causes Ron to abandon his friends, to the tragic prophecy that Harry uncovers through more of Snapes past memories, this book truly tests the readers tolerance for beloved characters in distress.

The Cursed Child Story

Set 19 years later after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child shows Harry, Ron and Hermione as 37-year-old parents who are seeing their children off to Hogwarts. The play continues Harry Potters story through his son, Albus, following Albus Severus Potter as he uncovers secrets from his fathers past in a time-travel adventure. On top of the original set of characters, the play also features Draco Malfoys son Scorpius, Hermione and Rons daughter Rose, as well as Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestranges surprise offspring Delphi. The time-travel aspect of the play could make for a very engaging movie or TV series, both for new and old, loyal audiences by exploring much of the original story through a fresh lens.

What Is Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban About And Why Should I Care

Care because its cool, guys. Really the title character of a novel is a wrongly-accused escaped convict who used to ride a flying motorcycle. This novel also features hippogriffs, crazy creepy Dementors, epic flashbacks, people who morph into animals , time travel, Quidditch matches, and more mysteries than you can shake a stick at. Aside from superficial reasons, this novel plays a really important role in the Harry Potter series. This is a major transition novel in the series it effectively ushers us out of the more childish stage and into the more adult novels, featuring a mature and self-aware Harry. We meet a huge number of characters who are really important in the later books, and we get a much-welcomed crash course into the first war with Voldemort and into Harrys parents, James and Lily.

The Ending Of Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban Explained

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban changed the game for Harry Potter fans. Not only was it the first movie not directed by Christopher Columbus, but the story in both book and film form introduced characters and mythology that would impact Harrys battle with Voldemort all the way through to the final installment. Its also very complicated, with Time-Turners, scenes from multiple perspectives, and big reveals that have fans frequently shifting their allegiances.

Prisoner of Azkaban seems to follow a few different plot threads: Sirius Black has escaped the wizard prison Azkaban, and everyone assumes hes out to kill Harry. Hogwarts also has a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Lupin, and he is super weird about the moon. Hagrids hippogriff, Buckbeak, is about to be executed for scratching Malfoy. Rons pet rat Scabbers is missing, presumed eaten by Hermiones cat Crookshanks. And theres a big dog out there that may portend death. All these threads seem independent, but they converge at the Shrieking Shack, delivering an ending to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban that provides deep commentary on the series themes.

Prisoner Of Azkaban: Time Travel

This is the only film in the series to include a time travel aspect with Hermione’s Time-Turner. She had been using it to attend extra classes, and it takes on a critical role in the film’s final act when Harry and Hermione use it to time travel three hours into the past and witness their past selves earlier in the movie.

Harry and Hermione witness the same events again as they rescue Buckbeak and later Sirius Black, causing certain events that happened the first time, ending with Harry casting a powerful Patronus to save his past self from Dementors in a chill-inducing scene.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 77%*

If you thought The Order of the Phoenix was a dark ride, buckle your seatbelts. In setting the table for the series finale, The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 puts Harry, Ron and Hermione through the wringer. As they embark on a quest to hunt horcruxes, our heroes find themselves isolated from friends and family, andfor a great deal of the films second acteven pitted against each other. Apart from a fun opening sequence in which the Order assembles an army of Harry decoys thanks to a big batch of polyjuice potion, its grim and gritty, with nary a glimpse of Hogwarts and its cozy trappings. Thats not to say its badly done, by any meansits just a dramatic contrast from the more playful tone of the first four films, effectively raising the stakes, and hinting at the horrors in store should our heroes fail.

Prisoner Of Azkaban: The Hippogriff Scene

During Hagrid’s first Care of Magical Creatures lesson, he introduces the class to Hippogriffs. Harry meets one named Buckbeak and Hagrid allows Harry to ride him as Buckbeak takes off and flies through Hogwarts grounds.

It’s aesthetically beautiful, and the music which accompanies it from John Williams is lovely. It is undoubtedly one of the more iconic scenes from the films.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Set In 1927

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald came two years later, set a year after the events of Fantastic Beasts, building on the Grindelwald twist of the first film.

The movie severely disappointed Potterheads with its muddled, convoluted nature, and weak plot. Even more frustrating, for the first time on such a scale, the movie contradicts the rules of the Wizarding World, infuriating fans to no end.

    Deathly Hallows: The Final Battle

As the last film in a series, this movie delivers on the thrilling action that you would expect from a finale. The Battle of Hogwarts is exciting, and it offers a bunch of magical battles as every student and teacher stands up against Voldemort and his army of Death Eaters.

It’s a satisfying battle that gives us everything we would want to see. As Harry, Ron, and Hermione destroy the Horcruxes one by one, the film gets more and more compelling as Voldemort becomes weaker and weaker. Overall, this battle sequence is the best finale of the entire series.

The final movie so far in the Harry Potter world hit theaters in 2018. This was the second movie in the Fantastic Beasts series. While Newt Scamander was still the main protagonist, there was a lot here to set up a battle mentioned in the original Harry Potter movies between Albus Dumbledore and his greatest rival, Gellert Grindelwald.

    Moony Wormtail Padfoot And Prongs

    • The story of Lupin’s connection to the Shrieking Shack and Whomping Willow is omitted.
    • In the novel, Snape appears in the Shrieking Shack after pulling off the Invisibility Cloak, but in the film, as the trio didn’t bring the cloak with them, Snape appears visible and is seen when he disarms Sirius.
    • Also, in the film, Snape disarms Sirius since Lupin passed his wand to him when Sirius was so wanting to kill Pettigrew. In the novel, Lupin never gave his wand to Sirius, so Snape never disarms the latter.

    Special And Visual Effects

Industrial Light & Magic and Framestore handled the key visual effects shots for the film, while The Moving Picture Company, Cinesite, and Double Negative crafted additional VFX material.

Cuarón originally wanted to move away from CGI toward puppetry. He hired master puppeteer Basil Twist and experimented with underwater puppets to figure out the movements of dementors. The tests were shot in slow motion, but ultimately the method wasn’t practical. The water test footage provided creative direction for the visual effects team, adding the intangible metaphysical quality Cuarón was seeking. Visual effects supervisors Tim Burke and Roger Guyett, the Industrial Light & Magic VFX team, and Temime collaborated in the creation of dementors.

Cuarón commented on the difficulty of creating Buckbeak, which took months of research and preparation, beginning with the creature’s skeletal design. Cuarón said, “Once we worked out the physiology, the way his bones would actually move, we had to capture his personality, which is a mixture of regal elegance, particularly when he is flying, and the clumsy and greedy creature he becomes back on land.” Creature effects supervisor Nick Dudman created several practical hippogriffs for the production, while Burke and Guyett oversaw the creation of the computer-generated version. Guyett cited the complex movement of the feathers as an achievement that had “never been done before.”

Theres A Killer On The Loose: The Serial Killer

Speaking of the many faces of monstrosity, this brings me to the serial killer that haunts Harrys every footstep: Sirius Black. The story that surrounds him is bloody and violent, involving the death of 12 people and the obliteration of one Peter Pettigrew , leaving only a finger of his behind. His escape terrifies the wizarding world, putting the entire world on edge that such a killer could be running at large. Black haunts Harrys every move, affecting even his basic ability to leave school grounds. But, it is not just fear that Harry feels it is also vengeance. Black reportedly betrayed Harrys parents and Harry wants to enact revenge on the villain. Not only must Harry be on his guard, but he is also blinded with rage.

While the story is much more complicated, it all comes to a head in the Shrieking Shack, supposedly the most haunted house in Britain. This abandoned house sits on the edge of every students mind and becomes the home to a notorious serial killer. There, Sirius Black lurks, a fitting hiding spot for someone who inspires so much fear.

Should Harry Potter End After Fantastic Beasts 3

I was fortunate enough to grow up during the era when the Harry Potter film franchise was booming. As someone whos never read the books , I walked into the movies completely blind. The fact that this franchise went on for so long was unlike anything I have ever heard of. It wasnt just a trilogy or a fourth movie that was squeezed in along the way. In fact, as every Harry Potter fan knows, the franchise covered the whole story of the titular hero and his whole class from when they were all eleven-years-old. And by the time it ended back in 2011, they were all nearly twenty. Unless you count that very final scene where we got to see them as adults sending their children off to Hogwarts, but we all know that was still them as youngsters. Amazing what make-up can do, right?
