Everyone else has already defined this, but I would like to add that the thestrals demonstrate a dramatic shift in the theme of the book. They are symbolic of death, but death as a natural and misunderstood part of life. They foreshadow Sirius’s demise.

Voldemort And Dumbledores Duel
Voldemort and Dumbledore are two of the most powerful wizards in the wizarding world, so their showdown was filled with some of the most impressive magic around.
They were clearly nearly equal in their abilities, and it was a feast for the eyes when it was brought to the screen. The use of the environment, such as the Atrium fountain, made for one of the best duels in the entire film and book series.

- Ginny, about the name of the group
Dobby with his many hats
Despite the prohibition, they name their clandestine group “Dumbledore’s Army”, or the D.A. for short, to mock the Ministry of Magic, which fears Dumbledore is creating a secret wizard army. Harry assures all the 25 members that the meetings would go ahead once an ideal location was found. Soon, Harry is told about the Room of Requirement by the house-elfDobby. For the safety of the group, Hermione bewitches some coins with a Protean Charm, one for each member of the D.A. When activated by Harry, the numbers on each coin change to inform the bearer of the time and date of the next meeting. In the D.A. meetings, Harry starts them off slowly, practising the Disarming Charm. The class progresses at a fair rate, practising the Impediment Jinx, the Reductor Curse, and the Stunning Spell.

Government And The War On Terror
The “Harry Potter” series can only be understood as creating a cultural phenomenon all on its own. With 80 million books in print by the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as well as the continuing success of each Warner Brothers film adaptation, Rowling’s writing will demand its own account in future history books. But the novels do reflect some of the cultural atmosphere of the early twenty-first century. While the majority of the “Harry Potter” series was published during the years of western economic prosperity, the fifth novel follows the September 11, 2001 attacks and the subsequent global war on terror. Some of the darker tone of the fifth novel echoes the more negative global atmosphere present after September 11th. Additionally, religious protests continue to hound Rowling’s series, as some readers find the magical content morally questionable.
All The Patronuses Of The Harry Potter Characters
Harry Potter fans know that a patronus is a spell associated with the characters happiest memory. Weve compiled every patronus in the series.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban introduced the idea of the Patronus charm in Harry Potter canon. Since then, Patronuses have become one of the most iconic elements of the entire franchise. The spell itself, Expecto Patronum, is the only tool to combat the soul-sucking beings known as Dementors. These charms, if powerful enough, come in the form of an animal associated with the users happiest memory.

Meeting Luna For The First Time
Luna is one of the most beloved characters of all, but she didnt even appear until Harrys fifth year at Hogwarts. When she showed up talking about nargles, she illustrated right away that she was a bit loony, but it was soon apparent that she was also creative, kind, and lovable.
The story would have been lesser if Luna didnt exist, and she became a friend to Harry when he really needed extra support. Luna soon became a core part of the group.
What Is Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix About And Why Should I Care
Harry Potter is a wonder: he’s a wizard, he’s rich, and he has loyal friends. At age fifteen he’s faced down the most evil wizard in the world no fewer than four times. And despite his awful early childhood, he still seems to have basic faith in right and wrong: very impressive.
Yet, even Harry Potter famous, beloved Harry Potter spends much of Book 5 getting trashed by his peers. Now, of course, Harry’s life is part of a massive struggle between good and evil. It makes sense that the bullying he suffers is on a giant scale, with his new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, the Daily Prophet newspaper, and the Ministry of Magic all piling on him at the same time. But while Harry’s experience of bullying may be more extreme than many of ours, we still totally recognize with his bitterness and resentment at being laughed at by his classmates.
A lot of Harry’s bad feeling during Book 5 his sense that he’s being singled out, picked on, and persecuted we have experienced in some form or another throughout high school. Even for a famous boy wizard, it seems to be an unavoidable part of the high school experience that someone will laugh at you or try to make you feel ridiculous.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child
In the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Draco appears with his son Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, who became best friends with Harrys second son Albus Severus Potter. It was revealed that during the fourth year of Scorpiuss time in Hogwarts that Draco became widowed, as his wife Astoria Malfoy passed away due to a inherited blood curse, which could shorten her lifespan and disallow her from growing into old age.
After he was married, Draco initially contemplated letting the Malfoy bloodline to end with him to allow Astoria live longer , as he was aware of Astorias family blood curse and that childbirth would weaken her further. Astoria, however, persuaded him from doing so as she wanted a child not for the pure-blood beliefs, but for him so that he will not be alone should she died some day, which culiminated into the birth of Dracos first and only child Scorpius. Draco had once considered the birth of his son as the greatest day of his life, even though Scorpiuss birth had led to Astorias health to be further weakened and eventually caused her to die fourteen years later.
During the events of the play, Draco slowly made amends with Harry and his friends as they all embarked on a journey to save their sons from Voldemorts daughter Delphini, demonstrating his slow, but gradual acknowledgement of Harry as a friend and his outright denouncement of his Death Eater past.
The Introduction Of Grimmauld Place
Grimmauld Place is definitely not an uplifting or positive place, but it provides a new location outside of Hogwarts that’s filled with mysteries to unravel. Many of the dark artifacts that the Black family collected reveal a lot about wizarding history and the bigotry toward Muggles.
Plus, this house allows Harry, as well as audiences, to learn about Sirius Blacks backstory. Since hes such a fan-favorite character, many people found this fascinating.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix Introduction
As the reviews started to appear after J.K. Rowling‘s publication of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on June 21, 2003, they all commented on the same thing: Harry Potter is getting darker.
We found these reviews a little surprising before we read the book: after all, Book 4, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, is pretty dark, what with Voldemort’s murder of Cedric Diggory at the end. How much darker could Book 5 really be? But Order of the Phoenix is a whole new level of grim: Harry is angry for pretty much the whole book, which is both understandable, given what’s happened to him over the past four years, and kind of hard to read.
The whole idea behind the Harry Potter series is that the novels are aging along with the characters. And of course, the whole world knows that the teenage years can get pretty angsty, somewhat self-involved, and difficult to be around. In Book 5, Harry Potter has all of those traits: he spends a lot of time hurting his closest friends, flaring up at imagined insults, and generally being brooding and emo. When asked about her inspiration for making Harry so very grouchy in Book 5, Rowling replied:
Well, I taught teenagers for a while. They were my favourite age group to teach in fact. So I think I drew a bit on that, and I drew on memories of how grumpy we all were when we were teenagers. My sister’s here to watch this and she was very grumpy so I drew a lot on her.

At the Start-of-Term Feast, the Sorting Hat gives a warning in its new song. After their meal, the students are surprised to hear that Dolores Umbridge, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister is the new Defence Against the Dark Artsteacher . Umbridge rudely interrupts Dumbledore’s start-of-term notices and gives a speech which easily dulls the audience and Hermione realises through the hidden messages within the speech that the Ministry intends to meddle at Hogwarts. After the feast, Harry goes to Gryffindor Tower with Neville and when he goes to his dormitory, learns that not everyone believes that Voldemort is back. He argues with Seamus Finnigan and insults Seamus’s mother for believing in the Daily Prophet, before Ron arrives and breaks it up. Afterwards, Dean Thomas reveals his mother doesn’t get the Prophet since she’s a Muggle, while Neville reveals that he and his grandmother cancelled their subscription since they support Harry and Dumbledore. Before going to sleep, Harry wonders how many fights he will have to have before people realise that Voldemort is truly back.

The Woes Of Mrs Weasley

- In the film, Harry encounters Lucius Malfoy before his trial, not after, but they also do not confront each other and speak with mutual hatred.
- In the book, Mad-Eye Moody shows Harry a picture of the original Order of the Phoenix in No. 12 Grimmauld Place. In the film, Sirius shows him the picture in a back room at King’s Cross.
- Harry and the others cleaning Grimmauld Place is omitted, and as such, Harry going to the hearing occurs the day after he arrives at Grimmauld Place, and after the hearing Harry is next seen at King’s Cross to go back to Hogwarts. This omission also removes the event involving the discovery of Salazar Slytherin’s locket, which does not prove to be important until the 7th book and film.
- In the book, there is a scene during the party at 12 Grimmauld Place where we see Mrs Weasley attempting to excise a Boggart from one of the dressers upstairs. Therefore, it is not revealed that Mrs Weasley’s worst fear is that her family will die.

In the film, Harry goes with Ron and Hermione on the Hogwarts Express, implying they did not become prefects, as in the book, he went with Neville, Ginny and Luna Lovegood as Ron and Hermione sat in the prefects carriage . This storyline was filmed, however.
