Voldemort Is Nothing In Front Of This Villain
They do nothing to aid Harry during the final battle. And, on some level, their inaction is more insidious than anything Voldemort in Harry Potter ever does. Voldemort is a static character. He doesnt grow or evolves at all. It is very clear from the beginning that Voldemort choose not to feel remorse. He just cant feel it or understand it because its simply not in his nature to do so.

From here on, things keep getting worse between Harry and the Ministry of Magic. Harry, Ron, and Hermione break into the ministry disguised as employees to try and find a Horcrux. Umbridge hunts muggle-born wizards, puts Harry and friends on trial for stealing magic.
Harry is then branded as the enemy, thanks to a quiet takeover of the ministry by the Death-Eaters. Though we all hate Voldemort in Harry Potter for creating troubles for Harry, it is the Ministry of Magic that actually hates Harry and doesnt want him in Hogwarts.
Few people identify with Voldemorts pure psychopathy. No one roots for him or feels the slightest conflict about him. The members of the Ministry of Magic are cunning like humans, jealous like humans, insecure like humans, corrupt like humans. This makes the Ministry of Magic the villain in a true sense.
He Was Pretty Ungrateful
Do you guys remember Hagrid? Hagrid was nothing but utterly devoted to Harry and his friends, going above and beyond to care for Harry. Heck, let’s talk about Arthur, a man who did not have much to share, but went out of his way to share what he had with Harry â even when it almost cost him his life. At the end of the day, who did Harry name is youngest son after? A headmaster who used him as a pawn in a grander game, and a dude who really only vaguely helped him because he had the hots for Harry’s mom. Okay, it makes sense that he might not honor his current father-in-law due to the idea that maybe Ron would or due to the fact that he probably thought it was an honor enough that he married his daughter. But what about Hagrid?
It goes deeper than that. As a child Harry loved Hagrid, visiting him any chance he got. But as he grew up, he sort of shed his devoted guardian. Did Harry bother to help Hagrid with Buckbeak’s trial? Did he ever once go and visit Grawp after Hagrid asked him to? Did he bother to warn Hagrid that he wasn’t going to take Care of Magical Creatures anymore? No. Once he no longer really needed Hagrid, he basically stopped caring. This was the man who cradled Harry as a baby in Sirius’ flying motorcycle, who cried at the notion of leaving poor Harry on the steps of the Dursleys… what thanks did Hagrid get?

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
In the fourth novel it is revealed that Hagrid is of mixed wizard and giant parentage, his mother having been the giantess Fridwulfa, who left his wizard father when Hagrid was a baby. Since giants have a reputation for being brutal, and were once allies of Voldemort, Hagrid keeps his parentage a secret and allows people to imagine other reasons for his great size . Hagrids parentage is exposed in the Daily Prophet by Rita Skeeter, who portrays him as dangerous and incompetent. Hagrid is gravely affected by this and attempts to resign from his post as teacher, though Dumbledore does not accept his resignation. During the novel, Hagrid develops a romantic interest with Olympe Maxime; another half-giant witch and Headmistress of the French magic school Beauxbatons. Hagrid is also one of the very few people who, since the beginning, believes Harrys word that he did not apply to enter the Triwizard Tournament. Later in the book, Alastor Moody suggests Hagrid should show Harry that the first task of the Tournament would involve dragons. Hagrid also provides Blast-Ended Skrewts for the third task.

Salazar Slytherin And The Serpent Of Slytherin
Salazar Slytherin is said to be one of the most brilliant witches and wizards of his time. He was a pure-blood wizard and founder of Hogwarts who held controversial views.
His desire was to teach just those wizards and witches who had magical bloodlines. This disdain for any witches and wizards from muggle families puts him on my villain list. That and the whole creating a chamber of secrets with a giant and lethal basilisk inside thing.
While I have no doubt he was incredibly strong he places lower down due to the lack of information about his story.
Taking Grudges Too Far
While Bellatrix and her sister, Narcissa, married into other pure-blood families, their other sister, Andromeda, married a Muggle-born wizard named Ted Tonks. Sirius would declare that Andromeda was disowned for doing so, and Bellatrix would later claim that she hadnt even spoken to or seen Andromeda since shed gotten married.
That is one incredibly strict and unloving family.

Voldemort makes his debut in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. In this story, Rowling introduces him as the Dark Lord who tried to kill Harry Potter because the boy was prophesied to destroy him. Voldemort murdered Harry’s parents, James and Lily, but as a result of his mother’s love and willingness to sacrifice herself for him, baby Harry survived when Voldemort tried to murder him with a Killing Curse. Voldemort was disembodied, and Harry was left with a mysterious, lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead as a result.
In the book, Voldemort unsuccessfully tries to regain his dissolved body by stealing the titular Philosopher’s Stone. To achieve his objective, Voldemort uses Professor Quirrell’s aid by latching onto the back of the latter’s head. However, at the climax of the book, Harry manages to prevent Voldemort from stealing the stone.

The first baddie Harry Potter faced turned out to have a rather interesting reason to hate the title character so much – he had Lord Voldemort on the back of his bloody head. Always playing his meekest character traits to a T, Quirrell deserves a spot on our list for that reveal that nobody saw coming .

9 – Argus Filch
At first, Filch was quite the adversary for Harry Potter and his friends at Hogwarts – the caretaker and his loyal cat Mrs. Norris proved to be an annoying presence for the youths. However as the films went on, the Squib donned more of a comedic role, one that you almost felt sorry for. Also, his best friend is a cat – which isn’t very menacing.

8 – Rita Skeeter
Rita Skeeter is known to leave a bit of a nasty taste in your mouth after an encounter with her – and we’d expect nothing less from a journalist who will do anything for the full scoop. As great as her presence is in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’, we wish she had been fleshed out more in the films that followed, as she is in the books.

Igor Karkaroff, an enemy and former Death Eater
During his years as an Auror, Moody captured and defeated many Death Eaters, such as Evan Rosier. According to Sirius Black, Moody was very cruel with the Death Eaters he fought against, but he never killed if he could avoid it.
Moody captured Karkaroff after Voldemort’s downfall. He also participated in Karkaroff’s trial and told Dumbledore that they should take information from Karkaroff and then send him back to the Dementors. However, Dumbledore refused. Moody and Karkaroff met again in 1994, during the Triwizard Tournament. In fact, he wasn’t the real Alastor Moody, but Barty Crouch Jnr, a Death Eater. After Harry Potter was chosen for the Tournament, Karkaroff got very angry, because Hogwarts had two champions. When Barty told him how the Goblet of Fire might have been fooled, Karkaroff told him that he thought like a Dark Wizard. Barty answered that it was his job to capture Dark Wizards and perhaps he remembered, meaning that Moody and Karkaroff knew each other well. It is unknown how the real Moody reacted when he learned that Karkaroff was killed by Death Eaters.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Voldemort furthers his quest for ultimate power. He disposes of the Minister for Magic and replaces him with Pius Thicknesse, who is under the Imperius Curse. Establishing a totalitarianpolice state, he has Muggle-borns persecuted and arrested for “stealing magic” from the “pure blood” wizards. After failing to kill Harry with Draco’s father Lucius Malfoy‘s borrowed wand , he goes on a murderous search for the Elder Wand, the most powerful wand ever created, seeing it as the weapon he needs to overcome Harry’s wand and make him truly invincible. He goes on a quest that takes him out of the country to Gregorovitch‘s wand shop, where he kills the old wandmaker. His journey also takes him to Nurmengard, the prison where Gellert Grindelwald is kept, and he kills Grindelwald as well. He finally locates the Elder Wand and steals it from Dumbledore’s tomb.
Rowling stated that after his death, Voldemort is forced to exist in the stunted infant-like form that Harry sees in the King’s Cross-like Limbo after his confrontation with Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest. Rowling also mentioned that, despite his extreme fear of death, he cannot become a ghost.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
Hagrid is absent during the first part of the fifth novel. The character later reveals to Harry, Ron and Hermione that he and Madame Maxime travelled across Europe together on a mission from the Order, planning to find giants and convince them to ally themselves with the good side and with Dumbledore; however, Death Eaters also found the giants and managed to get them to Voldemorts side. Hagrid is attacked by giants during the mission, and saved by Maxime. Hagrid and Maxime eventually part on the journey home because of Maximes exasperation with Grawp, Hagrids half-brother whom he had found and was attempting to bring home with them. Grawp, who wanted to stay with the giants, seriously injured Hagrid. Hagrid introduces his half-brother to Harry and Hermione, and asks them to take care of him after he leaves Hogwarts. High Inquisitor of Hogwarts Dolores Umbridge supervises the classes of all the members of the Hogwarts staff, including Hagrid’s, and she looks for an excuse to fire him, as Hagrid is close to Dumbledore and part giant, Umbridge being highly prejudiced against non-humans. Towards the end of the book, Umbridge and other Ministry officials attempt to arrest Hagrid. The latter manages to escape, but Professor McGonagall is injured whilst trying to defend him. Finally, with Dumbledores post as Headmaster restored, Hagrid returns to Hogwarts.

Harry Potter And The Half
Voldemort does not appear in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, although his presence and actions are felt: he once again declares war, and begins to rise to power once more. He murders Amelia Bones of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and begins to target members of the Order of the Phoenix, including Emmeline Vance.
Rowling uses several chapters as exposition to establish Voldemort’s backstory. In a series of flashbacks, using the pensieve as a plot device, she reveals that Voldemort was the son of the witch Merope Gaunt and a Muggle called Tom Riddle. Riddle abandoned Merope before their child’s birth, soon after which Merope died. After living in an orphanage, young Riddle met Dumbledore, who told him he was a wizard and arranged for him to attend Hogwarts. Riddle was outwardly a model student, but was in reality a psychopath who took sadistic pleasure in using his powers to harm and control people. He eventually murdered his father and grandparents as revenge for abandoning him. The book also discusses Riddle’s hatred of Muggles, his obsession with Horcruxes, and his desire to split his soul to achieve immortality. Rowling stated Voldemort’s conception under the influence of a love potion symbolises the coercive circumstances under which he was brought into the world.
