What House Was Dumbledore In

Don't Miss

Hufflepuff Traits And Strengths:

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore – The Room We Require – Warner Bros. UK

Loyalty: Hufflepuffs make the most loyal friends a person can find. They also identify strongly with their House, as seen in The Goblet of Fire where the majority of Hufflepuffs turn against Harry because they think he’s trying to undermine one of their own, Cedric Diggory.

Dedication: Hufflepuffs are some of the most hard-working students and employees in the Wizarding World. While they may not have a Ravenclaw’s natural love of learning and knowledge or a Slytherin’s cunning and ambition, Hufflepuffs try their hardest in everything they do… and are rewarded for it.

Honesty: Hufflepuffs feel a strong desire to speak the truth and behave honestly in everything that they do. Gryffindors also value this trait, which is part of what makes Hufflepuff-Gryffindor friendships so strong.

Humbleness: Unlike the other houses, which are all prone to arrogance, Hufflepuffs almost never display this trait. They are modest and humble in everything that they do and tend to stay away from those who exude self-importance.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

In the second novel, a younger Dumbledore appears in a series of flashbacks, seen by Harry in a diary once owned by Tom Riddle, the most gifted student in Hogwarts’ history – and the future Lord Voldemort. Through the diary, Harry sees Riddles memory of Dumbledore questioning him about a series of attacks on Muggle-born students. In the present, Lucius Malfoy forces the school’s other 11 governors to suspend Dumbledore as Headmaster in the wake of attacks by a basilisk in the school when the Chamber of Secrets is opened. Dumbledore is reinstated when the governors discover that Ginny Weasley was taken into the Chamber of Secrets and Lucius is found to have coerced the other governors into suspending him.

Kids Figure Out Stuff Before He Does

For someone so clever, why does he seem to be so ignorant to things?

It goes back to Dumbledore seeming to be more curious about how things will play out than actually willing to protect his students. People figure out things before him all the time most notably and embarrassingly, when Harry, Ron, and Hermione discovered the Sorcerers Stone was in danger before he did. They were wrong about who it was in danger from, but they still knew something was up and got to it moments before Dumbledore himself did.

Ron and Hermione were 12 at this point and Harry was 11. Two of them had been part of the magical world for less than a year. And yet, they were all more tuned into things in Hogwarts than its headmaster? Seems suspicious

What Wand Does Grindelwald Have

Though nobody speaks of the Elder Wand in this film, Grindelwald presumably already wields the most powerful wand in existence. According to Rowlings timeline, Grindelwald steals the Elder Wand from wand maker Gregorovitch sometime between 1900 and 1926, before the events of Fantastic Beasts. Grindelwald presumably used the wand of Graves when he was disguised as that wizard in the last film. Now, he has reunited with his old wand, which helps explain the power he wields in the graveyard scene at the end of the film.

He Took The House Cup From Slytherin

Dumbledore Won

For the kids of Gryffindor, this was a really nice move. The supposedly evil Slytherin House thought theyd won the house cup and then Dumbledore swoops in there with some house points for Gryffindor and they just overtake Slytherin. The house points were deservedHarry fought off Voldemort, he deserved more than house pointsbut this was an incredibly cruel way to do it. Not all of Slytherin are mean bullies, and there are kids as young as 11 in that house so to casually pull out the rug from under them in front of the whole school was actually kind of petty and horrible.

This is the only time in the books when I actually felt I was on Draco Malfoys side. Dumbledore was definitely biased here, and he could have handled this far more tactfully.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix

In the fifth book, Dumbledore is demoted from Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, voted out of the Chairmanship of the International Confederation of Wizards, and is almost stripped of his Order of Merlin First Class due to his speeches regarding the return of Voldemort, although it is reported that he is unconcerned as long as he is not taken off the Chocolate Frog cards. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Magic does everything they can to discredit him and Harry mainly through the Daily Prophet. At the beginning of the book, Dumbledore enrages Fudge when he stops by at Harry’s hearing with a witness to ensure that he is not expelled. While Harry feels better when Dumbledore assists him, he becomes annoyed to the point of being angry that the headmaster refuses to speak to or even look at him.

Death Eaters And Enemies

Bellatrix Lestrange, a notorious Death Eater

Bellatrix Lestrange was a Death Eater who fought in both Wizarding Wars. She was fanatically loyal to Lord Voldemort and so, although acknowledging Dumbledore as a very powerful wizard, considered her master as the superior being. Bellatrix was among the few people who knew of the plan to assassinate Dumbledore, and that Draco Malfoy had been assigned the task of murdering him. She participated in the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, and reacted to Dumbledore’s death with utter glee. Bellatrix did not live to discover that her initial suspicions of Snape’s loyalty had been correct, dying during a ferocious duel with Molly Weasley. Dumbledore recognised Bellatrix as an incredibly dangerous and sadistic Death Eater, commenting to Severus Snape that, given the choice, he would prefer to die a quick and clean death rather than fall prey to Bellatrix who tended to “play with her food”.

Bellatrix also killed many of Dumbledore’s friends, such as Sirius Black, Dobby the house-elf, and Nymphadora Tonks.

Fenrir Greyback

Dumbledore: “Draco, years ago, I knew a boy who made all the wrong choices. Please, let me help you.
Draco Malfoy: “I don’t want your help! Don’t you understand? I have to do this… I have to kill you… otherwise… he’s going to kill me…

Dumbledore Should Have Been In Slytherin

Why did the Sorting Hat insist on putting Dumbledore in Gryffindor when he so clearly belongs in Slytherin? Its just because hes supposed to be a hero, I think, that were told hes a Gryffindor. Thats not to say he belongs in Slytherin because hes a bad guy or even because hes complex and morally gray. But how would you describe Dumbledore? Regardless of whether you think hes good or bad, youd probably say hes clever, calculating, patient, persistent, resourceful, manipulative, a shrewd judge of character, and someone who uses his considerable power to shape the world around him. Whether you believe hes good or evil or something in between, Slytherin is definitely where Dumbledore belongs.

Think about what Dumbledore was like in his youth brilliant and gifted and therefore arrogant and ambitious. By the end of his time at Hogwarts, Dumbledore knew that he could reshape the whole wizarding world and felt that he deserved the power to do so. He was already obsessed with the Deathly Hallows when he met Grindelwald their relationship only fueled his existing ambitions. They spent many months plotting world domination together as equal partners. It took the tragedy of his sisters death, potentially at Dumbledores own hands, to finally make Dumbledore question where his ambitions were taking him. And even then, he never fully abandoned his quest for the Deathly Hallows.

Dumbledore’s Life Of Regrets

The Origins Of Albus Dumbledore

Aberforth may have been angry at his brother, believing that he never truly cared about what happened to his mother and sister or about the rift between the two siblings, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Beyond eschewing an important Ministry of Magic job and flying relatively under the radar, Dumbledore lived with momentous regrets about his loved ones.

During Sorcerer’s Stone, when Harry discovers the Mirror of Erised a mirror that shows your deepest desire he asks Dumbledore what the elder wizard sees in the mirror, and Dumbledore responds that he sees “socks,” a gift he always wants for Christmas, but Harry gets the feeling that Dumbledore may not have been telling the truth. Later, when the two are trying to procure one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes from a secret cave, Dumbledore drinks a potion to unearth the horrible magical item, screaming to Harry to hurt him rather than “them.” As Harry later tells Aberforth, it was clear that Dumbledore was a haunted man, and the “them” he was crying out for was his lost family.

Harry Potter And Severus Snape

One of the most heartbreaking reveals in the Harry Potter franchise is the true nature and intentions of Severus Snape. In the end, Snapes sacrifices and love for both Lily and Harry Potter are integral to Voldemorts defeat.

Though he becomes a Death Eater after Hogwarts, Snape defects and becomes a spy for Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix to protect Lily, whom he has loved unconditionally since childhood. Snapes request for Voldemort to spare Lilys life leads to the dark wizards first demise because of Harrys mothers willing sacrifice. Despite his hatred of James Potter, Snape dedicates much of his life to protecting Harry from Voldemort to honor Lily.

When Voldemort returns, Snape regains his trust as a Death Eater while still spying for Dumbledore and hiding his true intentions using Occlumency. Snape gives Voldemort just enough information over the years to keep that trust, but Voldemort has Nagini kill the Hogwarts professor anyway so that the Dark Lord can obtain the Elder Wand. Voldemorts mistake in spurning Harrys revelation that Snape was never the master of the Elder Wand eventually costs Voldemort his final life.

Like his relationship with Dumbledore and Harry, Voldemort and Snape share many similarities in personality and heritage. However, Snapes unrequited love for Lily and subsequent affection for Harry lead to his redemption and Voldemorts undoing.

Nagini In Her Human Form

5 Reasons Faustus Blackwood Is The Worst Headmaster ( & 5 Why It

Rowling stirred up controversy when the Crimes of Grindelwald trailer teased a character who turned from human to snake. This woman turns out to be a Maledictus named Nagini, played by Claudia Kim. Credence meets her while the two are working at a circus. Unlike an Animagus, who can freely morph from human to animal and back, a Maledictus carries a blood curse that will eventually turn the person into the animal permanently.

Presumably, this Nagini is the very same one who will eventually become companion to Voldemort. Fans might assume that Nagini was intrigued by the dark arts early in life since she inevitably ends up an ally of the most evil wizard in history.

But in Crimes of Grindelwald, when Grindelwald offers several wizards the choice to join his forces, Nagini resists, even as her friend Credence aligns himself with Grindelwald. Its still unclear whether Nagini will go to the dark side or whether Voldemort will somehow enslave her after shes permanently turned into a snake.

He Saved Professor Trelawney

When Lord Voldermort started his rise to power and a war began, Sybill Trelawney approached Albus in the hopes of getting hired as the new Divination professor at Hogwarts. Albus, who didn’t particularly believe or even liked the idea of teaching Divination to students, accepted to meet with her since her great-great-grandmother was renowned.

He met with her at Hog’s Head where he discovered that she couldn’t actually predict anything. He was about to leave when she fell into a trance and told the prophecy of a young boy who would end the Dark Lord. Whether she was right or not, Dumbledore didn’t want to leave her unprotected when so many Death Eaters, and Severus Snape, loomed nearby. He offered her the job to keep her safe from harm.

What To Expect When Visiting Dumbledores Grave Island

Although the parking and journey to the island where Dumbledore is buried is not a plain sailing one, youll instantly feel better once you arrive at Eilean Na Moine.

Its pretty magical to visit Dumbledores grave and see it for yourself on the loch in amongst all the beautiful mountains.

Of course, the actual White Tomb is not going to be on the island itself. But, that doesnt matter as the place is very evocative as it is knowing the context of the location in the Harry Potter movies.

Luckily, it isnt as muddy on the higher banks of the lake once you get over the boggy patches below. You can also head right down to the loch and feel how cold the water really is on the edges!

I brought my light-up Elder Wand with me for the occasion and, yes, I did hold it up out of respect . I even saw a train go by while I was here but it was too late to be the Hogwarts Express.

All in all, its somewhere I would highly recommend visiting if youre a Harry Potter fan and youre on holiday in Scotland!

Dumbledores More Modest Career Path

In the aftermath of Arianas tragic death, Dumbledores need for power wholly abated as he later told Harry, he didnt think he should be trusted with power after his friendship with Grindelwald ruined his family. Turning down repeated offers to take the ultimate seat of power and become Minister for Magic, Dumbledore turned instead to his true love: teaching.

As one of the most intelligent and learned wizards in history, it makes sense that Dumbledore would want to share his wisdom with young witches and wizards, and he returned to teach both Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration throughout his early tenure at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As the Transfiguration teacher, Dumbledore encountered a curious young student named Tom Riddle, whom he immediately recognized as a talented yet foreboding presence. Of course, that student would grow up to become Lord Voldemort, Dumbledores biggest adversary besides Grindelwald.

Which Hogwarts House Have You Been Sorted Into And What Does It Mean

So, you’ve just been sorted into your Hogwarts House. It’s an exciting time in any new witch or wizard’s life, but it naturally comes with a lot of questions.

  • What does it mean to be sorted into a particular house?
  • What does it say about your personality? Your strengths and weaknesses?
  • And, most importantly, your house is the best one out of them all, right?

This article explores some of the key traits that define members of each of the four Hogwarts houses Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. It lists the main characters associated with each house and delves into the strengths and weaknesses that define the culture of the four houses.

The emblem of Gryffindor House is a lion, symbolising strength and courage.

Head of House: Professor Minerva McGonnogall

Ghost: Nearly Headless Nick

House Colours: Red and gold

Main Characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Albus Dumbledore, Neville Longbottom, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, and Ginny Weasley

Gryffindor is arguably the most focused-on house in the Harry Potter series and gets the most page-time devoted to explaining the story of its foundation and culture. This makes sense considering the three main characters of the series are all sorted into Gryffindor. However, amongst the series’ fans, there are surprisingly few people sorted into Gryffindor house, making it almost like an exclusive club.
