But Wait Theres More: The Other Monsters
But the werewolf is not the only monster that Harry and the gang confront in the film. While magical beasts are a part of the world of witches and wizards, in The Prisoner of Azkaban, a few of them are scarier than usual. Most notably, there is the bogart, a creature that takes the form of a persons greatest fear. For example, when Harry sees it, it turns into a Dementor. When Lupin sees it, it turns into a full moon. It is a monster that is all about confronting your greatest fear, and what are horror movies than ways to confront your fears?
The other important creature of the film is a hippogriff named Buckbeak, though he is by no means a threatening presence. Rather, he is a being that is protected by Harry and his friends. The existence of such a creature is typical in the wizarding world and is by no means as horrifying as the bogart or a werewolf. However, in placing narrative emphasis on yet another creature, Cuaron and his team show a continued desire to make this a film about the monstrous; this is a movie about the many faces that monsters can take.

Harry Potter And The Sorcerers Stone
In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the book that started it all , Harry Potter discovers his true identity in the wee hours of his eleventh birthday: he is a wizard, famous in the magical world for having vanquished the evil Lord Voldemort when he was only a baby. This revelation, delivered by a gruff, hairy giant named Hagrid, sets Harry on a fantastical journey of a lifetime.
He meets bosom buddies Ron and Hermione aboard the Hogwarts Express, and is soon sorted with them into Gryffindor: the house of the intrepid and brave. However, Harry also makes plenty of enemies at Hogwarts, most notably the arrogant Draco Malfoy and the nasty potions master, Snape . And from battling a troll on Halloween to his first exhilarating Quidditch match not to mention the novels climax, in which Harry goes up against Voldemort for the second time in his young life theres never a dull moment in the first year of his new adventure.
Sorcerers Stone also perfectly balances exciting action with touching emotion, as Harry finds a true family in Ron and Hermione after years of misery with the Dursleys. Indeed, the books small, moving moments such as Harry being floored by a gift from Rons mother, or Hermiones tearful declaration at the end about books and cleverness are just as magical as the spells themselves.

Filius Flitwick composes the Hogwarts song when they get to the castle and The Fat Lady, played by British comedian Dawn French, also pops up. Percy Weasley is present for the scene where The Fat Lady recalls Sirius Black’s attack on her portrait, and Dean Thomas is in the background throughout a few shots, too.

Prisoner Of Azkaban Voted Best Harry Potter Film
19 November 2020, 16:44
Which is the best Harry Potter film? A new poll has found that the third instalment is the most popular of the franchise – but do you agree?
With the cold settling in and many of us spending increasing amounts of time at home, there’s no better time to rediscover our old favourite films.
One of our favourite franchises to watch with the family – particularly around Christmas time – is undoubtedly Harry Potter, and a new poll on the public favourite of these films is sure to get your kids debating.
Fans on Ranker voted for Prisoner of Azkaban – the third instalment and only film where Voldemort doesn’t make an appearance.
The film sees Harry, Ron and Hermione enter their third year at Hogwarts, and is centred around the escape of Sirius Black from wizard prison Azkaban.
Sirius is at first thought to have been the one who betrayed Harry’s parents to the Dark Lord, but the end reveals it was actually Peter Pettigrew – disguised as Ron’s rat Scabbers.
The 2004 film was directed by Alfonso Cuaron, and features Gary Oldman David Thewlisas Sirius Black and Remus Lupin respectively.
The second most popular film in the ranking is the final instalment – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 – which sees Harry’s final explosive showdown with Voldemort.
The full ranking is below:

Howling At The Moon: The Werewolf
Perhaps the most traditional horror element of ThePrisoner of Azkaban is the inclusion of a werewolf. The not-so-subtly named professor Remus Lupin ;is new at Hogwarts and is revealed to be a creature of the night. But what is especially great about the films take on the werewolf is that this is not your typical wolfman covered in hair. Lupins werewolf is essentially hairless and has unnaturally long limbs. Think Gollum from Lord of the Rings, but as a wolf. His transformation isnt shied away from, either, as we see his face contort and elongate into a snout, and his clothes rip as his shoulders broaden. This is body horror lite, showing the painful and disgusting transformation rather than shying away from it.
On top of a werewolf already being scary enough, the fact that it is also a professor that has gained Harrys trust amplifies that fear. Lupin is trusted by Harry and well-liked by all his students, treating them as equals and preparing them for the ways of the Dark Arts. However, he himself harbors a dark secret that endangers himself, his students, and the rapport he has built with them. As soon as he transforms, there is nothing remaining of the human Lupin, no reminders of the human within. It is only the monster, full of bloodlust.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Pt 1
Deathly Hallows pt. 1 is the first movie adapting the last book in the series. It starts with the new Minister of magic finally admitting that Lord Voldemort has come back and that he presents a great threat to the wizarding community.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione are on a hunt for Horcruxes only this time without any help from their teachers and friends. We follow them as their personal fears and differences drive a wrench between them in these trying times.
On their search for clues, the group stumbles upon a story that leads them to learn the way to destroy Voldemort once and for all.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald is the second in a five movie plan to further flesh out these characters. This film focuses mainly on Credence, Newt and his family, and Grindelwalds scheming. Jude Law joins the cast as young Dumbledore in this movie.
The Crimes of Grindelwald received a mainly negative reaction from die hard Harry Potter fans. However, if you enjoyed the first Fantastic Beasts movie, you likely wont completely hate this one, unless you really dont like changes to the established canon. If youre new to Harry Potter and thinking of turning away because of Potter fans keep telling you to stop now, dont listen. At least give this film a chance and decide for yourself whether to hate it or think its fine. Not the best, but not terrible.
Fantastic Beasts 3 is expected to hit theaters on November 12, 2021, but with a delayed filming schedule, it might be a bit longer before we see another Harry Potter movie. Luckily, as we wait for the next film installment, we can always rent or buy any of or other video on demand services.
As for what transpires after the original Harry Potter series, if you’re looking to check in on what became of Harry, Ron and Hermione as they headed into adulthood, check out the stage production, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The script for the play is available for purchase, however, since it’s a play, it’s really meant to be seen on the stage, if you’re able to get to New York or London.

Differences From Earlier Films In The Series
One possible explanation could be that Hagrid was promoted to new bigger living quarters closer to the castle after getting the Care of Magical Creatures job, enabling him to perform both his teaching and grounds-keeping duties easily. It would also give students a safer place to take lessons, away from the forest.
- The location of the portrait of the Fat Lady, the entrance to the Gryffindor Common Room, has been moved to the Grand Staircase. The appearance of the Fat Lady has also changed, with a different actress, background, and ball gown from the first film: In the first film, the Fat Lady is played by Elizabeth Spriggs. She is shown with black hair and a pink silk dress and she doesn’t seem to have much personality. Oddly, this version of her is not particularly fat. Her portrait is located at the end of a corridor somewhere in the castle, but its location is never specified. The Fat Lady as portrayed by Spriggs moves only when approached by a student and very little at that. She also asks for the password, ensuring more effective concealment of the common room. In the first film, given the Fat Lady’s dress and background, she seems to have lived in the sixteenth century Europe. The Spriggs version of the Fat Lady’s portrait is also used in the video game adaptations of Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets.
