Is Harry Potter In Fantastic Beasts

Don't Miss

How Is Leta Lestrange Related To Bellatrix

Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts | Rainy Night at Hogwarts, Peaceful Music and Ambience

The first Fantastic Beasts movie teased the appearance of Leta Lestrange , presumably a relation of the evil Bellatrix Lestrange and her husband Rodolphus Lestrange from the Harry Potter series. We learn that while Leta was Newts girlfriend at some point she is now engaged to his brother Theseus.

Fans might assume from her last name that Leta was intrigued by dark magic, like most of her relatives. But while Letas father was a truly horrible man who used the Imperius Curse to steal another mans wife and impregnate her, Leta the child born of that assault does not inherit her fathers evil inclinations.

Leta feels guilty for switching out her crying baby brother for another baby on a ship to America, just to get a moments rest. When the ship sank, Letas true brother went with it. The other baby survived with Leta. That means that Credence is not a part of the Lestrange family, despite what many in the film suspected. Leta proves her story with a Lestrange family tree that looks similar to the Black family tree featured in Order of the Phoenix.

And at the end of the movie, Leta sacrifices herself in an attempt to fight Grindelwald and save Newt and Theseus. Letas untimely death means that she cannot be a direct ancestor of Bellatrixs husband Rodolphus, since Leta did not have a childat least that we know of. Rodolphus must be descended from another branch of the Lestrange family.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part Ii

Director Yates and screenwriter Steve Kloves faced the ultimate challenge with The Deathly Hallows Part II: to satisfactorily conclude a story 10 years in the making. Few would argue against their success, since the film is actually the highest rated of the entire Potter series , although its reliance on narrative tricks and deceptions have made it slightly less appealing on repeated viewing.

That said, there are some bold creative decisions here that save The Deathly Hallows Part II from simply feeling like a procession of notable character deaths, including the decision to relegate some of those deaths to offscreen. Its a film that knows how to manipulate its audience, but also knows when to show restraint.

A Distant Relative Of Harrys

Even without any hint that this could occur, many have speculated that a distant relative of the famous Harry Potter may appear in the upcoming spinoff. Thanks to a recent Pottermore piece by Rowling, though, it now seems more likely than ever.

Over on the site, she provides a breakdown for one of the key organizations in Fantastic Beasts: The Magical Congress of the United States of America. Like the Ministry of Magic in the UK, MACUSA serves as the governing body for all things magical in the States. In Rowling’s history, she provides the names of the first twelve Aurors to serve MACUSA way back in 1693 when it was founded.

Lo and behold: one of the names given is Abraham Potter, who she notes was later found by genealogists to be a distant relative of Harrys. While hed be far too old to appear in the 1920s-set film , its safe to assume that some people with the Potter lineage still remain in the US, leaving the opportunity open for a fun cameo that may mean nothing to Scamander, but everything to audiences.

Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone Was A Great Start To A Series According To Audiences

Audience score: 82%

The first film debuted to rave reviews, mostly due to its faithful retelling of J.K. Rowling’s source material.

“Sorcerer’s Stone” will always be warmly remembered as the beginning of an unforgettable series for many fans.

“It’s a tough job when you are hired to make an adaptation of a popular children’s book. And it’s even more tough when that movie is also intended to be the beginning to a long series of movies,” wrote audience reviewer Lasse G. “But Chris Columbus actually does a good job.”

Newt Scamander Text Book

Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Poster

One of the more subtle nods to the Harry Potter universe is the fact that the movies follow the author of one of the most read books in the Wizarding World. The book in question, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was published in 1927 and would go on to become a standard textbook at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for decades.

In Harry Potter’s first year at Hogwarts, he needed a copy of the book in order to attend the school. Perhaps this was for his Defense Against the Dark Arts class, as students cannot take care of magical creatures until their third year.

Wouldn’t: Bellatrix Lestrange And Leta Lestrange

Despite being related , these two women don’t share a lot of common ground. Bellatrix Lestrange was Voldemort’s best lieutenant she is utterly deranged and most of her decisions stem from an attempt to impress her master. Leta is more independent and loyal and her guilt over her brother’s death is a driving force for the character.

Although they were both sorted into the same Hogwarts house, the two characters would more than likely be enemies. Leta tries her best to distance herself from her family whereas Bellatrix embraces the Black and Lestrange family values. If these two ever came face to face, a bitter duel would probably ensue.

Harry Potter Characters Who Could Appear In Fantastic Beasts

With the imminent arrival of Fantastic Beasts, we decided to take a look at the Harry Potter characters we think could make a cameo in the film.

When the final installment of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, was released in theaters, many were sad to see the Boy Who Lived and all his friends go. Still more of us, however, knew that both Rowling and Warner Bros. were unlikely to let this franchise simply slip away. Sure enough, it wasnt long before both announced that a new film would premier in 2016, with the release of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, based on the book of the same name within the Wizarding World by magizoologist Newt Scamander.

With the release of the film just over the horizon, we wanted to explore some of the many characters from the franchise who are old enough to appear in the 1926-set film, and would have the inclination to either show in New York and run into Newt, or appear in a flashback or credits tag. Here are 15 Harry Potter Characters Who Could Appear In Fantastic Beasts.

Fantastic Beasts 3 4 And 5 Plot: How Will Fantastic Beasts End

Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts Magical Creatures by Noble Collection

If we assume that we’re going to get three more movies of the series, here’s what was originally planned for the spin-off.

Rowling has said that the films will cover 19 years of Wizarding World history. That will take the last one up to 1945, the year that Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald and claimed the Elder Wand from him.

That was also the year that a certain Tom Riddle graduated from Hogwarts.

All that considered, it seems unlikely that the fifth movie won’t feature the climactic battle between Dumbledore and his former friend. Credence could also turn out to play an important role in their struggle, especially if the theory that Dumbledore’s sister Ariana was another Obscurial turns out to be true.

That 19-year period also covers the birth of Voldemort and the actions surrounding the creation of his first Horcruxes.

Theseus was known to be corresponding with Percival Graves, the director of magical security for the US magical government MACUSA, which put Newt’s brother in contact with Grindelwald, who had assumed Graves’s identity.

That considered, his outlook might be quite different to Newt’s. Could that put them on opposite sides of Grindelwald’s coming war?

Fantastic Beasts 3 is set for release on July 15, 2022.

The Biggest Issues Some Harry Potter Fans Have With The Fantastic Beasts Movies

24 July 2020

Alright, so the Harry Potter series is a tough act to follow. Something has to, right? Theres just no way the franchise would end then and there after the movie adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s success became a cultural staple. Thus 2016s Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them kicked off a new era of Wizarding World movies. It’s since been followed up by 2018 sequel Crimes of Grindelwald and the third of five planned movies is set to begin filming shortly.

But over the years, the Fantastic Beasts movies have proved to be a divisive addition to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There are a number of fans who have some major issues with the direction the series of films has gone down so far. This is without the mention of the various controversies that have surrounded the author in recent weeks and casting controversies for Johnny Depps Grindelwald and Claudia Kims Nagini. Lets talk through what some Harry Potter fans are not fond of about Fantastic Beasts:

Role In The Harry Potter Series

The book’s fictional author, Newt Scamander, does not appear in the main Harry Potter book series though his name is seen on the Marauder’s Map in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He is the central character of the Fantastic Beasts film series, in which he is played by Eddie Redmayne.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a British-American fantasy film inspired by the book of the same name by J. K. Rowling. An extension of the wizarding world from the Harry Potter film series and directed by David Yates, the film stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Carmen Ejogo, Faith Wood-Blagrove, Jenn Murray, Jon Voight and Ron Perlman. The first movie is set to be followed by four more. Principal photography commenced on 17 August 2015, at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released in the United Kingdom and the United States on 18 November 2016.

A sequel was released on 16 November 2018. The third movie is scheduled to be released in July 2022.

Harry Potter Franchise’s New ‘fantastic Beasts’ Sequel Should Not Have Been Written By Jk Rowling

Download 3840x2160 Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of ...

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald would be a far better movie if it was willing to be about its titular creatures, instead of its subhead. Overstuffed with plot twists and turns and frustratingly obscure in its worldbuilding, the highly anticipated sequel to Fantastic Beasts saunters in with the overconfidence of a mediocre white man, or Johnny Depp. And despite a strong cast and the Harry Potter cachet, its sadly one more example of the failed prequel genre pioneered by George Lucas Star Wars films of the early aughts and cemented by Peter Jacksons The Hobbit trilogy.

The problem begins and ends with Warner Brothers thinking it was a good idea to let J.K. Rowling write the scripts. Rowling is a writer of books an excellent writer of books and not necessarily a writer of screenplays. Yet, after spending 2012 developing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with someone else writing the script, she jumped at the idea of writing a movie based on her slim 2001 novel Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.

Overstuffed with plot twists and turns and frustratingly obscure in its worldbuilding, the highly anticipated sequel to Fantastic Beasts saunters in with the overconfidence of a mediocre white man, or Johnny Depp.

But perhaps the most frustrating part of the whole endeavor is watching a beloved franchise slowly crumble under the weight of unnecessary expectations.

Now That Johnny Depp Is Out End The Fantastic Beasts Series For Good

The third flick caused some chatter among Potterheads in November when Johnny Depp departed the Warner Bros. production. The 58-year-old actor, who played the villain Gellert Grindelwald, exited the series when he lost his libel case against UK publication the Sun after it published an article in 2018 that labeled him as a wife-beater.

Mads Mikkelsen is replacing Depp as Grindelwald, joining actors Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Jessica Williams.

The Pirates of the Caribbean megastar is still getting paid for the third Fantastic Beasts film despite his firing. Depp will be compensated more than $10 million for one tiny scene in the new movie.

John Williams Hand Over

Harry Potter fans have been moved by the bewitching melodies composed by John Williams since the first installment of the saga. But for these new adventures, Warner Bros and The World of Wizardry turned to another composer: James Newton-Howard who brings a brilliant new soundtrack to the film. Williams has already worked on many famous films such as Pretty Woman, the Hunger Games saga, and the Peter Pan by P.J Hogan. While adding in some well-known notes from the Harry Potter series, James Newton-Howard creates a unique musical identity for the film, securing this soundtrack as one of the best of his career history. More grown-up, romantic but still as epic as ever, this soundtrack has kept the magical spirit that fans look for in Harry Potter films alive.

Harry Potter isnt just a franchise. Its an empire of author JK Rowlings creation, where books, films, theme park rides, and online communities have sprung out of one womans imagination. Its an ever-growing one, too, with the Fantastic Beasts series bringing five more adventures to screen, all a world away from lives of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Here are all the cinematic entries of the Wizarding World to date, ranked from worst to best.

Obscurus Books: Fantastic Beasts

There is another subtle link to Harry Potter, fantastic beasts and where to find them. Obscurus Books was called the publishing firm behind the publication of the textbook.

This is a clear reference to the Obscurials significant position in the Fantastic Beasts series.

Whats most intriguing about this is that Obscurus Books has been the publisher of the textbook. Since JK Rowling released Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2001.

Provided Newts run-in with an Obscurus and the companys formation. This would have given fans an early indication of when Fantastic Beasts took place in the Wizarding timeline.

Wouldn’t: Voldemort And Gellert Grindelwald

Voldemort and Grindelwald are the main antagonists of the two franchises but they’re both far too self-absorbed to become allies. They are both power-hungry and ruthless but, where Voldemort uses fear and intimidation to gain control, Grindelwald uses charm and manipulation. At this point in time, there are still many unanswered questions about Grindelwald but it’s already clear his villainy is enough to rival Voldemort’s.

The two characters do actually come to face to face briefly in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows with Voldemort visiting Grindelwald in prison. In the books, Voldemort actually kills Grindelwald when he refuses to divulge the location of The Elder Wand which confirms an alliance would never work between the two.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

The franchises second instalment certainly has its standout moments it introduces both all-time legend Dobby into the game and lets Kenneth Branagh steals scene after scene as the vainglorious Gilderoy Lockhart. However, its bloated 161-minute runtime can make it tough work.

Director Chris Columbus returned with as much enthusiasm as he expressed in The Philosophers Stone, delivering thrills in Aragog, the basilisk, the petrifications, the Whomping Willow, and the Quidditch matches. That isnt enough, regrettably, to fully distract from its rather dry narrative, which delivers endless plot twists about the dark history of Hogwarts and the truth behind Tom Riddles diary.

Another of the adolescent-stage films of the franchise, The Half-Blood Prince could just as easily have fallen prey to The Order of the Phoenixs tonal awkwardness, but theres a much keener sense of the wider stakes here Severus Snape s machinations make for particularly gripping viewing, culminating in a face-off that still has the propensity to shock years later.

Whats crucial, however, is the sense of balance thats also brought to this film, as the students of Hogwarts find moments for the old magic: a Butterbeer shared with friends, or a game of Quidditch. Professor Slughorn provides a light sense of comic relief, alongside the now-infamous Hermiones got nice skin moment between Ron and Harry.
