Sexual Innuendos Were Everywhere
The Harry Potter series was massively popular with kidsso it may come as some surprise that certain aspects of the books seem a little NSFW upon review. For starters, there’s the “engorgio” spell, which just screams double entendre .
Then there’s the fact that these are all teenage students who have no sexual education coursework at all, and some have traced the timing of Nymphadora Tonks’ conception to her parents’ teen years . Rowling herself has said she didn’t mean to encourage teen pregnancy in the story, but thanks to a dirty Easter egg in the Marauder’s Map from the Prisoner of Azkaban movie, which showed two students getting busy in a corner, we know Hogwarts could get pretty steamy.

It Is Far Better Than The Movie
When it comes to the books vs movies debate, we would go for the books. Because there are frankly ridiculous changes the movies made and the minute little things it ignores. Towards the end, the stories seemed less impactful than in books. Anyway, the movies arent terrible.
Whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home. JK Rowling
Tristan Strong Punches A Hole In The Sky By Kwame Mbalia
Thirteen-year-old Tristan Strong goes to live with his grandparents following a tragic bus accident that claimed the life of his best friend, Eddie. While there, he accidentally tears an opening to the MidPass, a fantastical land whose inhabitants are trying to destroy everyone in Tristans world. Shackle monsters and ships made of bone evoke images of slavery, and Tristan joins with figures from African mythology to fight them.
Tristan is the perfect embodiment of how it is okay to feel those emotions and view them as a source of power rather than a weakness, writes one Amazon reviewer. Author Kwame Mbalia received the Coretta Scott King Honor Award for his debut novel.

The Once And Future King By Th White
The Hero’s Journey is essential for the Harry Potter series. Apart from the style of the writing, the architecture finds its roots in the stories of myth and legend. If you’re looking a for a novel that embraces this hero’s journey perfectly, look no further than the story of King Arthur.

The Night Circus By Erin Morgenstern
A magical love story, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is one of those books like Harry Potter that will keep readers guessing to the very end. At the Le Cirque des Rêves, a circus that only performs at night, a duel between two magicians is underway. Only one magician will be left standing. Trouble is, the two magicians are in love.
As soon as I finished The Night Circus, two things happened: first, it shot to the top of my favorites list, and second, I simply had to reread it. I couldnt let the world go so quickly, writes one Amazon reviewer.
An added connection to the Wizarding World: Like the Harry Potter books, the audiobook edition of The Night Circus is read by the excellent Jim Dale, whose voice work on the seven Harry Potter novels is equally magical.

The Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer
The Harry Potter books went into a whole new territory when they introduced the “Tales of Beetle The Bard.” Now the wizarding world had their own mythology and fairy tales. When Rowling was writing these stories, she looked to real life texts for inspiration.
The Canterbury Tales, a selection of short stories from Medieval England from author Geoffrey Chaucer, told an anthology of tales from the mouths of religious pilgrims. One of them, “The Pardoner’s Tale,” was a direct inspiration for “The Tale of The Three Brothers,” sharing many of the same plot elements.
Speaking Of Red Flags There Are Actually Real
Imagine what dating an adult Harry Potter super fan would be like. Your wedding would probably have a subtle Potter theme weaved in, your first child would have the middle name “Albus”.
But there is a special place reserved in Askaban for the loveless people who reference Harry Potter in their Tinder or Bumble profiles. It’s such a worrying trend you could release a 700-page “Harry Potter And The Cursed Online Dating Profile” detailing every single one.
If you do this and it actually works then please get in touch. Honestly, the below screenshots make me want to do a Ron and vomit slugs into a bucket.

It Has Strong Female Characters
Harry Potter books might have a male protagonist, but there are many female characters that guide readers throughout the series. JK Rowling is a proud feminist who wrote so many strong female characters in Harry Potter and its hard for us to name the one we find strongest. Being an author, JK Rowling shares her own personal life experiences in the female characters she created.
I dont like the marginalization of women when the fighting breaks out. We get to fight too. A woman can fight just the same as a man can fight. JK Rowling
What Grade Level Is Harry Potter For
One of the most engrossing elements of the Harry Potter series is that the children grow a year older with each book.
They are excited 11-year-olds in book one, and by the time the story hits its climax in book seven, they are 18. We get to see these favorite protagonists mature as they combat sinister powers in a battle between good and bad.
The children are on a mission to destroy the Dark Lord Voldemort in the season. Voldemort intends to destroy both the Wizarding and regular worlds to achieve immortality.
In general, the ideas in these stories evolve as the series progresses. This enables children to progress through each book as they grow and develop. Of course, every child is special.
As a parent or teacher, you will understand your childs or students readiness better than anyone else. These age guidelines are only meant to serve as a roadmap to help you decide when to begin.
The Sorcerers Stone, like all Harry Potter novels, explores certain difficult subjects, but in a gentle manner that will encourage constructive conversation.
There are several quite frightening scenes for example, halfway through the novel, the children encounter an evil troll that they must defeat together.
After the novel, there is a lengthy battle scene between Harry and the wicked Voldemort. Its also worth noting that this book addresses the subject of parental mortality.

Purchase And Reception Of Harry Potter
The editorial manager of Rocco, a medium-sized publishing house, acquired the copyright to translate Harry Potter into Brazilian Portuguese in December 1998. At the time it was neither a 7-book series nor a worldwide bestseller, but an interesting adventure for 9 to 12-year-olds, with all the ingredients of other well-known English childrens classics, minus the illustrations. Another apparent difference: though permeated by folklore and mythological archetypes that anyone can easily identify with, Harry Potter is a serialized fairy tale written in contemporary language and set in our time. After the success of Rowlings first book in the United Kingdom in 1997, she received a grant from the Scottish Arts Council that enabled her to write the sequel. These were the main reasons for Roccos initial interest in her work. Next she became known in a large number of countries, won three consecutive Nestle Smarties Awards and took Warner Bros. as her business partner.
By 2001, when the first film of the series was shown in Brazil, my four translations had sold a million copies, so Warner Bros. felt compelled to pirate them for their film, video and DVD. Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone in visual media renewed the interest of the audience in the books, raising sales to one and a half million copies.
It Teaches You To Be Brave
Harry Potter will teach you what true courage is. The character Harry displays bravery many times in the book. He takes risks for the good of others. He will get into trouble just for the sake of making sure his friends were safe. The more darest thing he did was that he sacrificed himself to stop bloodshed.
Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy. JK Rowling

Why You Need To Read Harry Potter As An Adult
I am a legit Harry Potter fan. Of course, Ive read all the books and seen all the movies. Additionally, I own enough HP shirts and socks to clothe several people. Over the years, I knit multiple hats based on hats Hermione wore in the movies. Frozen butterbeer is the bomb! I visited Universal Studios Wizarding World of Harry Potter with other adults its still one of my favorite vacations ever.
Unlike many dewy-eyed millennials though, I didnt read Harry Potter as a child. Because it didnt exist yet. Though it was first published when I was in college, I finally started reading the series as in my 20s. When I met Harry, I was in working full-time, paying off student loans.
By the time the 7th book was published, Id added a graduate degree and a mortgage.
I hear lots of people wax eloquently about the lessons that they learned from Harry Potter as a child or teen. Yes, there are amazing messages about the importance of friendship and tolerance that children can understand. However, if you havent read the books as an adult, you are missing out on some of J.K. Rowlings strongest arguments.
Three Dark Crowns By Kendare Blake
In this dark fantasy series, three sisters must fight to the death to become the queen of the island of Fennbirm. Triplets, each of the sisters possess a particular kind of magic they use against each other in a battle that begins when they turn 16.
Blake establishes myriad side plots and relationships, builds complex characters, and leaves plenty of compelling avenues to explore in future books, writes Publishers Weekly. Teens from eighth grade and up are the right audience, but adults will like the hypnotic story, too.

There Is Greatness In All Of Us
Lets talk about the true hero of the Harry Potter series, Neville Longbottom.
When the children start school, Neville is an eleven-year-old sad sack. He is socially and academically awkward, clumsy, and shy. Though Harry and Neville are both orphans, Harry has definite advantages. Harry has the love of the Weasleys and Dumbledores advice. And Harry is famous, darn it!
Neville doesnt have a special relationship with an adult other than his grandmother. No one expects much of him, including his own family. Neville doesnt seem to be a hero of any sort.
However, Neville slowly gains confidence in himself. He joins Dumbledores Army and is vital in several battles in his 6th and 7th years. During the Battle of Hogwarts, Neville defies Voldemort. The Sword of Godric Gryffindor appears to Neville. And it is Neville who destroys the last horcrux, allowing Harry Potter to kill Voldemort. People expected little of Neville, but he more than rose to the occasion.
As adults, we are guilty of type-casting children and teens. Oh, shes not good at sports. Math just isnt his thing. Not everyone can be a leader.Except they can. When we have low expectations for children, they will never achieve much. But when we have high expectations and provide the support children need, they can accomplish so much.
Reading This Book Makes You A Better Person
Psychologists find a surprising thing happens to kids who read Harry Potter. Various studies have shown that kids who read this series and identify with Harry are more open-minded and less likely to be prejudiced against minority groups. Kids who read Harry potter grow up to be better people.
