Where Are The Harry Potter Movies Going Next

Will the Harry Potter movies go to Netflix? Thats been a question weve all asked for a long time. The bad news is thats not going to happen. At least, not any time soon.

Netflix doesnt have the streaming rights to the movies. With HBO Max, Peacock, and so many other streaming sites, its possible that well never see the magical movies on the biggest streaming service of all.

The good news is the Harry Potter movies will stream on another service in the future. Theyre all heading to Peacock in the fall. Were looking at October for the release, where youll be able to stream all eight until around April 2021.

After that, who knows where theyll go. Going back to HBO Max is likely.

However, Harry Potter is a huge franchise. Its likely that Warner Bros. may want to make the most of the licensing contracts, allowing the movies to go on various streaming services for a month to six months at a time.

Well certainly keep an eye out for where the Harry Potter movies will go and whether theyll ever come to Netflix.

For now, the Harry Potter movies are on HBO Max for one last day.

Just in time for Back to Hogwarts celebrations, all eight Harry Potter films will return to HBO Max from September.

After a brief period of streaming on NBCUniversals streaming site, Peacock, the movies will be available on WarnerMedias HBO Max. The eight movies were originally available on HBO Max for a three month period upon the streaming services launch in May 2020 . Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald are not included on the list of films being added to HBO Max in September, so fans will seemingly have to look out for the two prequel films elsewhere.

The 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone is this November, so streaming giants will likely have their eyes on the rights to the movies for this period, as fan nostalgia kicks in for the anniversary of the first movie it is unknown how long WarnerMedias HBO Max will keep the films for this time around.

When Did Harry Potter Leave Hbo Max Where To Watch The Movies Now

Growing up immersed in the magical world of Harry Potter was truly a childhood dream come true.

It was an invitation to leave the muggle world behind and head off to Hogwarts with Harry, Hermione, and Ron, who as time went by became more like friends than mere characters on the page or screen.

For some, the iconic trio came of age and the door closed with the Deathly Hallows.

Many others, on the other hand, have continued to cherish their memories and insist on revisiting the franchise as often as they can, filled with just as much wonder as the first time they encountered it.

Recently, HBO Max has been the place to get a Harry Potter fix, but just like magic, the movies have disappeared from the library. Inevitably, audiences are curious about their disappearance

‘harry Potter’ Movies Are Leaving Hbo Max And Subscribers Are Fuming

HBO Max has only been live for three months, and it’s already starting to disappoint some viewers. That’s because the latest news on Monday revealed that the streaming service would be dropping all eight Harry Potter films. The movies based on the best-selling books by J.K. Rowling will be removed from the network on Aug. 25.

The Harry Potter movies had been on the service since it first released, but fans will only have another five weeks to binge through the collection. While not known at the time, the company only had the streaming rights for the series for three movies as part of a deal NBCUniversal made in 2016 to secure the rights. It’ll be difficult for HBO Max to replace the popularity of those films, but it’ll attempt to do with the addition of five Batman movies, including the original movie and The Dark Knight. Other notable films being added into the library include Jojo Rabbit and Wedding Crashers.

With the popular series being taken off the streaming provider next month and no new home for the Harry Potter films revealed just yet, fans of the wizarding world were none too pleased. Here’s a look at some of the reactions that poured in as news of the removal from HBO Max began to spread.

The ‘harry Potter’ Films Are Leaving Hbo Max And Flying To Peacock

Listen, we all have our security blankets. For many of us born in the 90s, that blanket is re-reading and re-watching the Harry Potter series ad infinitum. Yes, I like to believe my literary tastes have elevated since my days writing Harry/Ginny fanfiction on Tumblr, but I still get chills every time I hear the opening theme of Sorcerer’s Stone. If you’re desperately seeking butterbeer-flavored comfort in this time of crisis, I see you. I understand you. I am you. No matter how many times its much-beloved and much-maligned author stirs up controversy in the years since the series publication, Harry Potter remains an important testament to youth, love, and courage. Harry gets away with being a brat because hes our brat.

All eight films of the Harry Potter series originally started streaming on HBO Max in May, but they will leave the service in August 2020 and migrate to new streamer Peacock, launching in October. According to NBCUniversal, which will own and operate Peacock, the movies will be available in so-called “windows,” meaning they’ll appear on the platform in intervals throughout the rest of 2020 and into 2021. Why the sudden shift? Well, NBCU actually owns the HP franchise’s television and digital rights WarnerMedia just bought a short-term deal to grab those rights for their May 27 launch of HBO Max. Now that the deal’s up, Harry’s headed back to NBCU.
