Bringing such a beloved series to an end was always going to be a difficult challenge, especially with an ending was as massive and surprising as the one featured in the Harry Potter books. Fortunately, Yates and the team delivered.
The first Deathly Hallows movie does a lot of the ground work, eating up the exposition time that allows Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 to move as effectively as it does. Still, the set pieces and effects are grander and more impressive than anything else in the series to that point. From a technical perspective, it’s nothing short of masterful.
Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is a true blockbuster in every sense of the word. It’s a huge movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, making it one of the most rewatchable films in the franchise.

Believe it or not, it’s been more than 20 years since Harry Potter first made his big screen debut. The young wizard from 4 Privet Drive already had hordes of fans thanks to J.K. Why Do The Harry Potter Films Keep Moving
The main reason seems to be because of deals made before either HBO Max or Universal had streaming services.
In 2016, the TV rights for the films were set to expire after being held by ABC for many years. At that time, the rights were divided, with NBCUniversal getting cable rights to show the films on SyFy and USA, while HBO bought the streaming rights to have the films on its HBO Go / HBO Now platforms.
Crucially, though, the NBC deal also allowed the films to appear on the SyFy and USA digital platforms. This essentially means that each service has a claim to the digital rights to the films, explaining why they keep moving around.
This is something that looks likely to continue. The NBC deal doesn’t expire until 2025, meaning that things are not likely to change for a few years.

‘harry Potter’ Is A Beloved Franchise
During the 1990s, the world was officially introduced to a boy named Harry Potter and his magical journey, and from that point on, nothing would be the same again. The story about the Boy Who Lived changed the world of pop culture, and over time, the story has only grown in popularity.
The books were a whirlwind of success, meaning that a big screen adaptation was right around the corner. Warner Bros. wisely chose to make one movie per book instead of cramming too much into a single picture. Yes, the final book was divided into two movies, but this was also a great move by the studio.

What Are Fans Saying About The News
Since Rowling’s contract demands that she has a say in just about everything Harry Potter, she’ll most likely have a hand in any sort of HBO Max series. But some fans aren’t too happy about that. In December 2019, the author was criticized by LGBTQ rights groups after she supported a researcher whose views on transgender people were described by a court as not worthy of respect in a democratic society. Later on, in June 2020, Rowling tweeted an op-ed column that discussed people who menstruate, and wrote in the tweet, “Im sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?” After people criticized Rowling for her implication that trans women aren’t women, she clarified in a series of tweets, that, “I respect every trans persons right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them.” She followed this with a larger statement on her position on trans rights, which detailed five reasons for being worried about the new trans activism.” All of that said, with today’s news, some people are saying that Rowling shouldn’t be allowed to profit from a potential TV show.

When it comes to revisiting old franchises, Harry Potter is undoubtedly one of the most popular choices. Potterheads love rewatching the eight films, sometimes from beginning to end or just with one movie spur of the moment. Regardless, Harry Potter fans never seem to tire of the magical series. So, losing access to conjuring the Wizarding World on their screens will likely be upsetting. Sorry, Potterheads, but all eight Harry Potter films will vanish from HBO Max this summer. Anyone have a cauldron cake we can eat while we cry over this news? We have enough tears to fill Dumbledores pensieve right now.
Hbo Max Is Losing The Harry Potter Movies To A Major Streaming Rival
The boy who lived, will live somewhere else
HBO Max will lose all eight of the Harry Potter movies at the end of August.
From August 31, the original octet will leave the streaming service, marking the second time in three years that the adventures of the boy wizard have left the platform.
For those in the US, the only place to stream the movies for the foreseeable future will be on Peacock, which began streaming all eight films at the start of July. The Fantastic Beasts movies, however, will remain on HBO Max, as will the cast reunion that aired at the start of 2022.
When HBO Max first launched in May 2020, it boasted the full Harry Potter collection, but only for a few months, with Peacock snaring exclusive rights later that year. HBO Max secured the movies once again in September 2021, but only for a year, and now they’re flying back to Peacock.
While the Harry Potter series and its larger universe were made by Warner Bros. the parent company of HBO Max the origins of this deal date back to 2016, when NBCUniversal struck an exclusive agreement with Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution for US broadcast and cable rights to the whole Wizarding World franchise, which runs until 2025. The deal was reported to be worth a colossal $250 million.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Movie
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the eighth official story in the Harry Potter series, is a two-part play written by Jack Thorne based on an original story by J.K. Rowling that follows Harry Potter, and his son, Albus Severus Potter as the young Potter prepares to attend Hogwarts. Set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the play debuted in Londons West End in 2016 before heading to Broadway in 2018, where it remains a hit.
J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros have made it pretty clear that there are presently no plans for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to be made into a movie. In early 2017, a rumor began circulating that there was a plan to make a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie years from now, when the original Harry Potter stars were close to the age of their respective characters in the 19-years-later setting of the play. Though the rumor seemed viable, given that it put plenty of distance between now and when this potential trilogy would take place, J.K. Rowling promptly shut down speculation on the idea, stating that it is “NO TRUTH” to the rumor. So that’s that.

Upcoming Harry Potter Movies
Fantastic Beasts was originally discussed as a planned trilogy, but then in November 2016, J.K. Rowling announced that the story would be spread out over five films. Producer David Heyman confirmed to us that they’re aiming to release one film for the series every two years. While that was the case for the 2018 release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, it appears that the third movie in the franchise wont see the light of day until at least fall 2021, but even that window is up in the air due to the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic. Production on Fantastic Beasts 3 was originally supposed to get underway in summer 2019, but then shooting was delayed to fall 2019 before shifting once more to spring 2020 so that J.K. Rowling could work on the script of the movie that star Dan Fogler said was going to be bigger than the first two combined. Production on the third movie in the franchise that will eventually consist of five titles got underway in early 2020 but was almost immediately put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cast and crew eventually returned in September 2020, but the production had another setback a few months later when Johnny Depp was asked to resign prompting the hiring of Mads Mikkelsen to portray the villainous Grindelwald. The movie is currently scheduled to land in theaters on July 15, 2022.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore
Crimes of Grindelwald is the only genuinely bad movie in the Harry Potter franchise. Its sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, may not be as good as the mainline Harry Potter films, but it’s not a bad movie by any stretch.
The Secrets of Dumbledore is something of a course-correction for the Fantastic Beasts series. Steve Kloves was brought back to the franchise to help Rowling write the screenplay and his presence alone improved things tremendously. From a story perspective, Secrets of Dumbledore is a lot easier to follow than its predecessor, and everything moves at a brisk pace.
Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen are delightful as Dumbledore and Grindelwald, respectively. Mikkelsen had a difficult task, taking over for someone as well-known as Depp, but he did well to make the character completely his own.
