The easiest way to reach the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is by car. Located at 100 Universal City Plaza in Universal City, the park is a short drive from the 101 freewaytake the Universal Studios Boulevard exit or the Lankershim Boulevard exit. Paid on-site parking is available, including preferred parking. Alternatively, take the metro to the Universal City/Studio City station.
The Flight Of The Hipppogriff
From the book: Buckbeak the Hippogriff appears in The Prisoner of Azkaban. Hippogriffs are touchy creatures and must be approached cautiously. They demand courtesy but can be buttered up with some recently deceased poultry. Once making Buckbeaks acquaintance, he will take you on a glorious ride around the castle.
The attraction: The Flight of the Hippogriff is a fun, but mild roller coaster ride that soars near, but not around Hogwarts castle. Its suitable for everyone including smaller kids and queasily fearful adults. Hagrid is on hand to introduce you to Buckbeak. But the ride doesnt require you to blow politely before getting on. Nor does the ride require the payment of a dead chicken. Bummercause I had one in my bag just in case.

Flight Of The Hippogriff
Flight of the Hippogriff is a family-friendly roller coaster that everyone in the family can enjoy together.
To get to Flight of the Hippogriff, visitors must enter the Care of Magical Creatures grounds and pass by Hagrids hut.
As you near the ride, Hagrid offers instructions on the best way to approach a Hippogriff the magical creature with front legs, wings, and head of a giant eagle and the body, hind legs, and tail of a horse.
Younger kids love it as the ride spirals, dives around the pumpkin patch, and then swoops past Hagrids hut.
The Flight of the Hippogriff ride has a minimum height limit of 39 .
Kids under 48 must be accompanied by an adult 14 years or older.

So, when deciding between Universal Studios Hollywood or Universal Orlando for early park admission, which one is better? Well, this is actually an easy one as only Universal Orlando offers a Harry Potter early park admission. But should this be the deciding factor between the two?
Overall we would say dont make the decision to visit Harry Potter World Orlando or Hollywood just based on an extra hour in the morning. But we would pay more attention to the actual rides that are included with the early park admission. Specifically the Universal Orlando early park admission does include some of the most popular Harry Potter rides including Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts which is not a ride that can be found at Universal Hollywood.

Tips For Your Visit To Universal Studios Los Angeles
These tips come from my own experience visiting the park but also those of Debra, a long time resident of LA and Universal Studios expert.
- Buy Tickets: Buy your tickets online. This not only saves time on the day of, but it also allows you to enter the park an hour before the official opening.
- Where to Stay: Stay nearby but dont pay too much. We chose the BLVD Hotel and Suites. Its a 5 minute drive to the park and cheaper than the on-site hotels. You can check out the reviews here or book here.
- Scam a Fast Pass: If they offer to give you a fast pass in exchange for taking a survey, do it. Only one person in your party has to take the survey but you each get a Fast Pass. Debra recommends using it for the studio tour.
- How to Navigate the Park:
- Once inside the park, march over to the Wizarding World and do Hogwarts Castle first. Lines get really long for this ride and if you go early, or go on an off day, maybe you can ride it twice.
- After Hogsmead, head downstairs. Youll find the Transformers, Jurassic Park and other adventure rides down there. Mid morning is a good time as many visitors dont think to go down there until after lunch.
- Take a break in the mid-afternoon and grab a Duff beer in Moes Tavern. And dont miss the Simpsons ride. Its hilarious.
- End the day back in Hogsmead. Get a wand. Buy some Berttie Botts Every Flavor Beans . Pick up some Harry Potter swag
- Then go home a most contented wizard.

Here is where we are going to see our biggest difference between Florida vs California Harry Potter Worlds. While a lot of shopping is jammed into Hogsmeade in Hollywood, these shops are spread out a lot more in Orlando between the two parks. So if youre planning on only visiting Hogsmeade in Florida, you will miss out on some shops that are in Hollywoods Hogsmeade.

Getting A Wand At Olivanders
From the book: Harry and friends visit Olivanders shop in Diagon Alley. He very carefully pulls a selection of wands from his toppling stacks. The Wizards-in-training swish them this way and that until Olivander is satisfied that a proper match has been made. Olivander is a good salesman, but in the end, its the wand that chooses its master.
The attraction: You can wait in line for the interactive wand selection experience where you go through a process of the swish and flick. Or you can skip the line, enter Olivanders directly and start perusing the toppling stacks yourself. In LA, Olivanders has been transplanted from Diagon Alley to Hogsmead. And this version of Olivanders allows the shoppers to choose their own wands. Sounds to me like a recipe for some bad magic.

So, is the Harry Potter World in Florida bigger than California? And, very simply yes. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is much bigger in Orlando Florida as it is spread out between the two lands of Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. Universal Orlando Florida also has the Hogwarts Express to transport guests back and forth between the Harry Potter lands.

Di certo i fan più sfegatati di Harry Potter avranno una sensazione di incompletezza nel visitare la bellissima ricostruzione di Hogsmeade sapendo però di non potersi gustare laltrettanto evocativa Diagon Alley, con la giostra dedicata alla discesa fra i cunicoli sotterranei della banca Gringotts, il famoso Nottetempo e le atmosfere losche di Nocturne Alley.
Tuttavia, cè anche da dire che larea tematica che troverete a Hollywood è davvero notevole: il villaggio di Hogsmeade è ricostruito nel minimo dettaglio, la possibilità di camminare allinterno del castello di Hogwarts attorniati da quadri e cappelli parlanti è unemozione da non sottovalutare, e proprio qui vi aspetta la giostra migliore : Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
