Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone
While it may not be as flashy, refined, or impressive as the rest of the films in the franchise, Sorcerers Stone deserves immense credit for setting up this series so wonderfully, and laying a fantastic foundation off of which the other films could be built. Director Chris Columbus was not only responsible for putting together the incredible cast, but he also captured Rowlings wizarding world on film in a manner that felt relatable and wholly transfixing. Sorcerers Stone is told through the eyes of an 11-year-old, and so the film was always going to skew a bit younger than subsequent installments, but Columbus refuses to talk down to his audience and wisely sidesteps delving into cartoony kids movie land.
And even though its tonally the lightest film of the bunch, Sorcerers Stone still works wonderfully as a fantastic entry in the Potter franchise. The winning combination of charm and smarts permeates throughout, and Columbus nails the founding friendship of our three heroes, culminating in a grand finale that lets each one of them shine. Who can resist adorable Ron Weasley commanding a giant chess set with gusto as he sits atop a stone knight?
Aboard The Hogwarts Express
- The scenes on the Hogwarts Express are slightly different in the film. In the book, the compartment that the trio are sitting in is right next to Draco Malfoy, who overhears their conversations and drops subtle hints about the Triwizard Tournament. Additionally, several of Harry’s friends enter the compartment before Malfoy enters.
- Ron attempts to purchase a packet of Drooble’s Best Blowing Gum and a Liquorice Wand, but only has enough for the Drooble’s.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Set In 1927
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald came two years later, set a year after the events of Fantastic Beasts, building on the Grindelwald twist of the first film.
The movie severely disappointed Potterheads with its muddled, convoluted nature, and weak plot. Even more frustrating, for the first time on such a scale, the movie contradicts the rules of the Wizarding World, infuriating fans to no end.
Sorcerers Stone: The Two Faces Of Evil
Harry Potters time at Hogwarts begins during the Sorcerers Stone book and movie. And if you think hed spend his first year at the institution keeping his head down and focusing on work then youre sorely mistaken. The Boy Who Lived instead spent much of his time focusing on acquiring the Sorcerers Stone.
The darkest moment comes at the end of the movie, where its revealed that Professor Quirrell, rather than Severus Snape, is the one helping Lord Voldemort. He hauntingly undoes his turban to reveal the face of his master at the back of his head, giving countless children nightmares across the globe. It was also proof that those Harry trusts dont always warrant it…

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Firerating & Content Info
Why is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire rated PG-13?Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images.
This installment of Harry Potter is the darkest to grace the screen to date. Depictions of violence abound including: the death of characters, villainous Death Eaters causing destruction with fire, images of snakes and skulls, moments of peril, death threats, mentions of torture, a character having his hand cut off, and a knife wound that draws blood. Sexual content centers on noticing the opposite gender, inappropriate hand placement during a dance, as well as some wistful comments by a female ghost about seeing a bathing boy without obscuring bubbles. Also, there are several uses of mild profanities and a main character that constantly drinks from a flask.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 & Part 2
Finally, the last book had been so big that it was actually split into two movies.
This is Harrys seventh and final year of what was supposed to be a full study at Hogwarts.
With so many enemies abound, this turns out not to be the case.
These two movies contain some of the biggest adventures in the series as they take place in various locations.
Our sensational wizard in both of these movies is seventeen going on eighteen.
Keep in mind, as with all the movies, that his birthday is shortly after the beginning of the movie.
So, in the case of the first movie, hes briefly sixteen years old, and in the second hes seventeen throughout the whole picture.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
The fifth and my most favorite in this Harry Potter list of all movies is the order of Phoenix. The big bad villain has arrived and it is time for Harry to take charge and not be a kid anymore. He knows he has much to lose and he will do anything to protect it. His friendship has grown even stronger than before and they all should stay together to stay strong.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 Set In 1997/98
The first of the main Potter movies to not be set at all at Hogwarts, Deathly Hallows: Part I is a slower movie and calls for some patience from the audience who are eagerly anticipating the climax.
It takes place across what would be Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s final year at Hogwarts, moving into the first half of 1998. It does, at times, feel like a stepping stone to get to the next film, but it has so much great stuff in its own right and is a good watch for those who are fans of the films when paired with the finale.

Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone
This is the first story in the series when the main character first learns some of his innate abilities after living for so long alone at his aunt and uncles house.
Its also the setting where he has his first encounter with the villain of the main series.
This particular movie is about trying to find the mythical philosophers stone and preventing it from getting into the wrong hands.
The age of our little wizard during this phase of the story is eleven years old going on to twelve.
This is the year that any aspiring witch or wizard, even ones from magical families, go for the first time to learn magic in school.
While its not mentioned, its likely that all students probably went to a normal school before this age.
Mayhem At The Ministry
- Most of the scenes that take place in the Burrow after the World Cup are omitted from the film, with the newspaper report about “Ministry Messups” being mentioned by Hermione on the train to Hogwarts instead.
- Ron receives his dress robes via Errol in the film from Nigel Wolpert, rather than being given to him by Mrs Weasley, as she was omitted.
Deathly Hallows Part : Hermione Tortured
The wizarding world is an extremely dark and dangerous place to be during the first Deathly Hallows movie, with Lord Voldemort on top and his enemies faltering in the line of fire. Amid the situation, there were always going to be some brutal scenes and top of the list is when Bellatrix Lestrange tortures Hermione Granger.
Voldemorts most-devoted Death Eater carves the word Mudblood into Hermione as she attempts to find out how they have Godric Gryffindors sword. Its similar to what Dolores Umbridge does to Harry during the Order of the Phoenix with the blatant evil on show unsettling for some viewers. If it wasnt for the intervention of Dobby the House Elf, Hermione would most likely have been killed.
Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix Set In 1995/96
The Order Of The Phoenix was the longest of all the Potter books, and it got impressively condensed into the shortest of all the movies. However, to many, that is the biggest issue of the film.
It takes place, once again, at Hogwarts, during Harry’s fifth year, where Hogwarts is a very different place under the Ministry of Magic control. It lacks a lot of what the book does brilliantly, but there is no denying how entertaining it can be, and that whole final stretch is terrific.

The Weighing Of The Wands
- Harry and Draco’s attempted attacks on each other with the spells Furnunculus and Densaugeo, respectively, are omitted.
- Harry receives the letter from Sirius in the Gryffindor Tower in the book, but in the film, he receives it in the Owlery. Additionally, the owl in the film has a tendency to bite people, which the owl in the book does not do.
What Parents Need To Know
Parents need to know that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has two deaths , scary creatures, some romantic yearnings, and edge-of-the-seat scenes. With each film the scariness quotient increases. This movie features fighting dragons, tortured bugs, a scary huge maze, and an underwater horror show. Young kids who don’t understand the difference between fantasy and reality should stay clear. So should kids going through an anxious time about unnamed terrors or unwanted separations, as one of the death scenes is upsetting. The action is sometimes rowdy, and camera movements/edits are aggressive, all of which increase the scary effects. One of the deleted scenes featured on the DVD shows teen couples after the Yule Ball getting caught kissing, etc., in carriages — it’s a little more sexual content than you get in the feature film.
