What Is Draco Malfoy’s Middle Name

Don't Miss

Harry Potter And The Half

his name is Draco Malfoy

Draco is drawn into Death-Eaters’ activities more directly in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Because of Lucius’ arrest and fall from Voldemort’s favour, Narcissa Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange visit Snape at his home to discuss a dangerous task that Voldemort has assigned Draco. Narcissa, deeply worried that her son will be killed in his attempt to complete it, begs Snape to make an Unbreakable Vow to aid Draco with this task and protect him at all costs, and if Draco fails to complete the mission, he will complete it himself he agrees.

In this book, Draco is, for the first time since being introduced in the series, portrayed as having considerable initiative, ingenuity, and perseverance. However, unlike Harry, who always relies on his friends’ support and help, Draco mostly works alone in the Room of Requirement, refusing to confide in or involve his own circle of friends, whom he treats more as underlings. This, and the realisation of what he is ultimately expected to do, nearly drives him to a nervous breakdown. When Harry walks in on Malfoy crying in Moaning Myrtle‘s bathroom, Draco attempts to cast the Cruciatus Curse. Harry is faster to the draw with an obscure Sectumsempra spell that he learned from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince’s book. The spell cuts deep gashes into Malfoy’s face and chest, resulting in severe blood loss. Snape, alerted by Myrtle’s screams, swiftly arrives and heals Draco’s cuts, then takes him to the hospital wing.

Lord Voldemort & Severus Snape

Unless there is something in their chart to offset this influence, Capricorns are ambitious and cunning folk who will stop at nothing and no-one to achieve their goals. Severus Snape and Tom Riddle are headstrong traditionalists, prone to moodiness and pessimism.

The dark side of Capricorn will see them sacrificing anyone, even those on their side if it means a win in the long-run. Capricorns are absolutists with commitment, whether it be a cause, goal, or person.

He Hoped That Harry Would Be Another Dark Lord

Draco grew up right after Voldemorts first downfall at the unwitting hands of Harry Potter. He had been brought up to believe that Lord Voldemort was on the cusp of ushering in a new and just era for true wizards. And then he was defeated by an infant. Many wizards loyal to Voldemort, including the Malfoys, couldnt believe it. Lucius himself believed, as did others, that the only explanation for Harry Potter surviving and defeating Voldemort was that he had to be an even more gifted, more powerful dark wizard. After all, why else would such a special boy be whisked away into hiding?

Consequently, Draco grew up with this idea as well. He thought that if he could ingratiate himself to Potter, he could help secure the Malfoys place in the inner circle of a new Dark Pureblood order. That is why Draco was so eager to introduce himself to Harry during their first year. Of course we all know how that turned out.

What Is Draco Malfoy Afraid Of

It was clear that Draco was fearful that Voldemort would kill him AND his parents, showing that there is more to him than originally perceived. What he truly feared wasnt Voldemort himself, but that Voldemort would kill his family. Peter Ramirez, Avid reader of the Harry Potter series and related subjects.

The Wand Makes The Wizard

Draco Malfoy... )

J.K. Rowlings work is always rife with symbolism, and wizards and their wands are particularly symbolic in the Harry Potter series. Draco Malfoys wand is made of unicorn hair and hawthorn, and according to Rowling, the unicorn hair points to the fact that Draco, annoying and scheming as he is, does actually have a good side. Wands made from hawthorn, furthermore, often mean that the wizard belonging to the wand has some great inner conflict inside themselves. Hawthorn wands can also be tricky, and are best suited to highly skilled wizards.

The Real Reason Draco Malfoy Tried To Befriend Harry

There was a time, albeit a short one, when Draco very much wanted Harry to be his friend.

He already knew several children of former Death Eaters before he stepped onto the Hogwarts Express, so he wasnt necessarily in need or want of friends. It was, according to J.K. Rowling, because he wanted to find out whether Harry was secretly a dark wizard that Voldemorts surviving supporters could rally behind. It had long been one of the more persistent theories surrounding Harry, unbeknownst to him, as to how he survived Voldemorts Killing Curse as a baby. It was also a theory that Dracos father Lucius supported.

Unfortunately for Draco, Harry wasnt having it. Harry recognized Draco as the boy from Madam Malkin who insulted Hagrid and voiced that Muggle-borns shouldnt attend Hogwarts. By then Harry had already made a friend in Ron, who Draco insulted for his appearance and familys lack of wealth. After being raised by the uppity Dursleys, Harry recoiled at Dracos snobbery.

It didnt take Draco long to abandon the belief that Harry could possibly be a dark wizard. The rest, as they say, was history.

Crouch Senior and Junior are two significant characters in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” “Bartimeaus” is New Testament figure, a blind man healed by Jesus. Rowling Has Made No Secret Of How Much She Disliked Cornelius Fudge

“Cornelius” is a common name and comes from the New Testament. But with the Minister for Magic’s middle and last names, “Oswald” and “Fudge,” Rowling reveals what Fudge’s politics were all along.

“Oswald” is likely a reference to Oswald Mosley, the leading British fascist politician in the lead-up to World War II, who supported Adolf Hitler. Fudge is also a lot like Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister who tried to avoid war with Hitler. Taken together, the name reflects Rowling’s distaste for the British politicians who allowed Hitler to get away with his crimes, like as Fudge denied the return of Voldemort at the end of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.”

“Fudge,” as a verb, means to “present or deal with in a vague, noncommittal, or inadequate way, especially so as to conceal the truth or mislead,” according to the Oxford Dictionaries, which also sounds a lot like how Fudge ran the ministry.

Tom Felton Wasnt Allowed To Tan While Filming

In late 2011 after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiered in theaters, reports started coming out about Tom Felton being able to enjoy certain activities more freely that he had not been allowed to while playing Draco Malfoy. Since Draco was supposed to have a pale blonde pedigree, Felton wasnt allowed to tan during filming and had to die his hair a bit to acquire the platinum blonde color. His natural hair color is a light brown and he had to die his hair a reported total of 18 times over the course of filming all eight movies.

After filming was complete he was spotted in Miami with his girlfriend freely soaking up the sun and not wearing three different caps at once to maintain his characters surly complexion. Thankfully, his later roles let him continue to portray smarmy jerks without having to bleach his hair. He at least got to play the different role in The Flash this past season, as Julian Albert aka Alchemy.

The Malfoy Manor Is Located In The English County Of Wiltshire

Even though the wizarding world is meant to exist alongside our real world, many of the exact locations of magical places in the books are kept ambiguous or vague. But the longstanding family home of the Malfoys is actually meant to be in a real world place in Britain.

Malfoy Manor exists in the English County of Wiltshire, a well-to-do, landlocked county with several points of interest. Wiltshire contains the archeological Neolithic circles of Stonehenge and Avebury, as well as several prominent public country houses.

Draco spent his whole childhood growing up in this opulent manor, tended on by servants and constantly reminded of his familys prestige and sense of self-importance. His childhood was solitary, somewhat like Harrys, but in contrast he had every privilege imaginable. The Malfoy Manor would eventually feel more like a prison when Voldemort co-opted it as his headquarters towards the end of the second wizarding war.
