What Is The 5th Harry Potter Movie

Dumbledore’s Explanation Of The Prophecy

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Official Trailer)

Dumbledore’s explanation of the prophecy is much more limited in the movie. It mainly focuses on the “neither can live while the other survives” part of the prophecy and why Dumbledore shielded this truth from Harry.

There is an extensive amount of information revealed in the book that is not included in the movie. Dumbledore’s explanation in the book reveals the real reason that Harry has to stay with the Dursleys, how Dumbledore first heard the prophecy from Sybill Trelawney, and how Neville Longbottom is connected to the prophecy.

Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone Set In 1991/92

Onto the series that everybody fell in love with years ago, the first film adaptation of the famous book series came in 2001 with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, retitled Sorcerer’s Stone for American and Indian audiences.

Taking place in Britain in the very early 1990s, the film follows the iconic characters in their first year at Hogwarts, establishing friends, foes, settings, and overall building of the Wizarding World in a brilliant way. A great start to the series, and a good adaptation.

A Chronological Guide To Watching The Harry Potter And The Fantastic Beasts Movies

Do you want to know how to watch the Harry Potter movies in order? Doing so is meant to be a magical experience and we mean that literally.

Starting off with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone , the film series follows every one of his seven years of studies. That includes learning from iconic wizards such as Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape as well as a procession of unfortunate Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers.

For a movie franchise based on a best-selling novel series, it’s unsurprising that the Harry Potter films are as popular and beloved as their paper counterparts. The big-budget adaptations of JK Rowlings Wizarding World are up there with the most successful movie series in history, too, with only Star Wars and the making more money at the worldwide box office over the past two decades.

That, then, makes the eight films essential family viewing, especially during the festive period, with new generations of kids continuing to discover the adventures of Harry and his best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.

But, these days, watching the Harry Potter movies in order is a little more complicated than it used to be. Warner Bros. has also released two movies in its Fantastic Beasts prequel film series , which are set in the 1920s and introduce a young Dumbledore along the way.

The Order Of The Phoenix

  • Nymphadora Tonks changes her hair into violet, bubblegum pink, tomato-red, grey and blonde. Also, in the book, her main colour of hair is bubble-gum pink, but in the film it is switched to purple and it stays that way throughout the film. However when Harry is picked up from the Dursleys, Moody calls her Nymphadora and as she angrily tells him not to do that, her hair keeps changing colour, but then their brooms arrive and her hair settles on one colour. This suggests in the film, her hair changes colour when she is feeling a particularly strong emotion.
  • Dobby the house elf, along with original member of the Order of the PhoenixMundungus Fletcher are not featured in the film. Neville seems to serve as a replacement character for Dobby.

Differences From The Book

Watch Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix (2007 ...

At 766 pages in the British edition and 870 in the American edition, Order of the Phoenix is the longest book in the Harry Potter series, however the film is the second shortest. Screenwriter Michael Goldenberg described his task to cut down the novel as searching for the best equivalent way to tell the story. My job was to stay true to the spirit of the book, rather than to the letter. Goldenberg said that Rowling told him, the producers, and Yates that she just wanted to see a great movie, and gave permission to take whatever liberties felt needed to take to translate the book into a movie she would love. Cutting down the book to meet the time frame of the film, Goldenberg explained, became clearer when figured out that the organising principle of the screenplay was to narrate Harrys emotional journey. He and Yates looked for every opportunity to get everything could in there. And where couldnt, to sort of pay homage to it, to have it somewhere in the background or to feel like it could be taking place off-screen.

Rita Skeeter, the journalist played by Miranda Richardson in Goblet of Fire, was also removed. In the book, Hermione blackmails her into writing an article that supports Harry as the rest of the Wizarding world denies his claims. Richardson noted that its never gonna be the book on film, exactly. Theyll take certain aspects from the book and make it something that they hope is going to be commercial and that people want to see.

No Percy Weasley Storyline

Hes not a main character, but Percy Weasley is involved in the first three Harry Potter movies. He then leaves to work at the Ministry of Magicbut thats all movie-goers get to see.

In the books, its established that Percy has turned his back on his family following their decision to accept Harrys word on Lord Voldemorts return. This causes Mrs. Weasley, in particular, a great deal of anguish. The rest of the family are furious with him, and it would have made Percys appearance to arrest Albus Dumbledore later in the movie make a whole lot more sense.

In The Books Dobby Introduces Harry To The Room

Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix Trailer (HD)

In the fifth book, Sirius Black, who has discovered Harry’s plans for a secret club, is the one who suggests the Shrieking Shack for a meeting place, rather than Ginny. And the character responsible for bringing the Room of Requirement to Harry’s attention doesn’t even appear in the “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” film.

One night, Harry is awakened from a dream by the presence of Dobby the house-elf, who is employed in the Hogwarts kitchens. Dobby, eager to help as always, is returning Harry’s pet owl, Hedwig, after she has healed from an attack. Harry asks the house-elf for a place Dumbledore’s Army can practice Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Dobby clues him in to the presence of the Room of Requirement, claiming that he learned of it from the other Hogwarts house-elves and has used it to help his fellow house-elf, Winky. Dobby not Hermione tells Harry its history, saying, “Mostly people stumbles across it when they needs it, sir, but often they never finds it again, for they do not know that it is always there waiting to be called into service, sir” . Harry quickly makes the connection to what Dumbledore told Karkaroff in “Goblet of Fire” and asks Dobby exactly how to find it and get in.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 Set In 1997/98

The first of the main Potter movies to not be set at all at Hogwarts, Deathly Hallows: Part I is a slower movie and calls for some patience from the audience who are eagerly anticipating the climax.

It takes place across what would be Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s final year at Hogwarts, moving into the first half of 1998. It does, at times, feel like a stepping stone to get to the next film, but it has so much great stuff in its own right and is a good watch for those who are fans of the films when paired with the finale.

Is Tom Riddle Half

He does not deny his half-blood status, but he is clear that Muggles are inferior, including his own father. His viciousness to Muggle-borns is connected: Riddle may be half-blood, but Muggle-borns can claim no wizarding heritage, therefore to him they are as low as Muggles themselves.

Why Is The 5th Harry Potter Book So Long

Harry Potter: 10 Things About The Order Of The Phoenix ...

One of the reasons Phoenix is so long is that I had to move Harry around a lot, physically. There were places he had to go he had never been before, and that took time to get him there, to get him away. That was the longest non-Hogwarts stretch in any of the books, and thats really what bumps up the length.

The Noble And Most Ancient House Of Black

  • Kreacher’s role is diminished to only two scenes: him speaking to the Walburga Black’s portrait and when he makes insulting comments to Harry. It is also never explained that he gave information to Narcissa Malfoy. In the book, Kreacher is introduced to Harry by Hermione in front of all the Weasley children.
  • In the novel, Sirius tells Harry his family’s back story and him being disowned shortly after Harry arrived at Grimmauld Place. In the film, he tells him this during Christmas, where Harry’s Christmas party with the Weasleys took place at Grimmauld Place instead of St Mungo’s.

The Fifth Movie Uses Neville And Hermione To Reveal The Room’s Existence

In the fifth film, as in the book, the regime of Dolores Umbridge includes a dumbing-down of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classes at a time when Harry and his friends believe those skills are needed most, given Voldemort’s return. The usually by-the-book Hermione thinks they should go behind Umbridge’s back and start their own club to learn methods of protecting themselves, with Harry as their teacher. But first, they must figure out where to hold classes in secret. As Harry walks with others interested in the idea, Ginny suggests the Shrieking Shack, which was in the third movie proven not to actually be haunted, while Hermione thinks the Forbidden Forest might make a good meeting point. Harry decides they’ll all come up with a few suggestions for consideration.

In the very next scene, Neville comes across a new door that appears in the Hogwarts corridors. When he tells the group, Hermione exclaims, “You’ve done it, Neville. You’ve found the Room of Requirement.” She then explains that it’s also known as the “Come and Go Room” and that it only appears when a person has need of it, always equipped for the user. “It’s brilliant,” Harry says. “It’s like Hogwarts wants us to fight back.” This exchange implies that the Room of Requirement has appeared at this time and place deliberately.

Madame Maxime’s Involvement In Hagrid’s Mission

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2/5) Movie CLIP – Expecto Patronum! (2007) HD

The book mentions that Madame Maxime joined Hagrid on his mission to recruit the giants in the fight against Voldemort. Despite Hagrid and Madame Maxime’s best efforts, the giants choose to fight with Voldemort and the Death Eaters instead.

There is no mention in the film of Madame Maxime helping Hagrid with his mission. It is possible that she was still part of it and that it’s just not stated in the film, though.

Nudity And Sexual Activity

The film contains no nudity but it does have some occasional low-level sexual activity:

  • In a couple of scenes Cho looks at Harry with romantic eyes.
  • In one scene Harry and Cho engage in a long passionate kiss on the mouth.
  • Bellatrix Lestrange is seen as a sensuous witch wearing a black tight fitting dress that exposes a degree of cleavage.

The Minor Harry Potter Character You Likely Forgot Introduced The Room Of Requirement

The “Harry Potter” movies are well-known for skimping on some of the content that made the books so rich and exciting for many fans. Of course, it would be impossible to fit much of that material into the runtime of a blockbuster film .

But the franchise’s corner-cutting rubs some fans the wrong way when it comes to certain aspects of the Wizarding World, even though it’s meant to make the storytelling more efficient without removing too many of the necessary details needed to make the plot comprehensible. This is perhaps why Peeves the poltergeist, a recurring minor character in the books and a fixture of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, was not included. Other characters also got the shaft or had their roles greatly reduced, like Tonks herself , Remus Lupin , and pretty much all the house-elves.

If you’re in the habit of rewatching the movies but not so much rereading the books, you might have forgotten that the Room of Requirement, which Harry uses to teach his own version of Defense of the Dark Arts, is introduced by someone different than in the films.

Rooms Omitted From The Department Of Mysteries

The Department of Mysteries contains many rooms that aren’t featured in the film. The most memorable of these is probably the Brain Room where brains with tentacles attached to them latch onto Ron and begin suffocating him. Another notable room not in the film is the Time Room, where the Ministry keeps their Time-Turners. All of the Ministry’s Time-Turners are destroyed when Harry and his friends fight the Death Eaters in the Time Room.

The movie condenses the Battle of the Department of Mysteries by focusing on the Hall of Prophecy and the Death Chamber where Sirius falls through the Veil.
