What Happened To The Cast Of Harry Potter
In the aftermath of the overwhelming success of writer J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series, film adaptations were an inevitability… and only a few years after the books started hitting shelves in 1997, the film series kicked off in 2001 with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Unsurprisingly, the films were a huge success as well, and as the books wrapped up their own journey, Warner Bros. assembled several different directors and a talented cast made up of new finds and established British actors to tell the story on the big screen.
Throughout eight films the seventh and final book, Deathly Hallows, was split into two movies an enormous group of actors brought the Harry Potter books to life, with young talents at the forefront who were flanked by familiar faces. In the years since the Harry Potter film franchise ended in 2011, many of the performers from the movies have continued working steadily… and sadly, some of these actors have passed away. Here’s what’s happened to the enormous ensemble cast of Harry Potter over the years.
Maggie Smith Was Professor Mcgonagall
Maggie Smith portrayed Hogwarts’ transfiguration professor, Minerva McGonagall.
The English actress was known for her work in “Othello” , “Death on the Nile” , “Sister Act” , “The Secret Garden” , and “Richard III” .
While filming “Harry Potter,” Smith appeared alongside Gambon in “Gosford Park” . She also worked on films like “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” , “Becoming Jane” , “Nanny McPhee Returns” , and “Gnomeo and Juliet” .
Toward the end of the series, Smith also began starring on the award-winning PBS series “Downton Abbey.”
Harry Was In Major Awkward Teenager Mode
Like any first date, we can all get a bit tongue-tied, and Harry was no different. Although he clearly wanted to connect with his Ravenclaw crush, the Boy Who Lived was also the Boy Who Failed At Keeping Conversation Flowing, mostly because he couldnt think of anything to talk to her about apart from Quidditch.
For heavens sake Harry, you went to the same school! You had almost every single part of your daily routine in common! You were both MAGIC. Surely that would have been a good starting point, right? But alas, Harry was simply too young and too speechless. Weve all been there, right?

Teddy Lupin Inherited His Mother’s Magical Abilities
The treatment of Werewolves in the world of Harry Potter was intended to mimic that of people with HIV in the real world. Those who are inflicted with lycanthropy are considered outcasts by most of wizard society, to the point where they won’t be employed by most establishments.
Teddy Lupin was the son of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks, who both died during the Battle of Hogwarts. He did not inherit his father’s condition, as lycanthropy can only be passed on through the bite of another infected victim. Thus werewolf fathers cannot pass their condition on to their children.
Teddy did inherit his mother’s ability to change her form, however, as she was a Metamorphmagus. It is never explained how the Metamorphmagus bloodline was created, only that it is a power that cannot be learned and is passed on from parent to child.
Teddy Lupin is notably absent from The Cursed Child. The information that we know about him mainly comes from The Deathly Hallows and interviews given with J. K. Rowling.
Cho Defended Marietta Edgecombe Destroyer Of Awesome Clubs
Dumbledores Army was Harrys safe space during a terrible year of Voldemort visions, the reign of Professor Umbridge, and being vilified by the media, so the fact that Chos friend destroyed that by betraying them to Umbridge was a terrible move made even worse by Chos attempts to defend her and reproach Hermione for cursing her with SNEAK-patterned pimples.
Even if you are Chos number one fan, this one is hard to get past. Sure, she gets points for loyalty to her friend, but what about loyalty to defending Hogwarts? Also, the fact Harry, constantly angry in his fifth year, couldnt see Chos point of view, made for an almighty clash that pretty much obliterated the entire relationship.
Oh, no, said Cho hurriedly. No, it was only… well, I just wanted to say… Harry, I never dreamed Marietta would tell…Yeah, well, said Harry moodily. He did feel Cho might have chosen her friends a bit more carefully it was small consolation that the last he had heard, Marietta was still up in the hospital wing and Madam Pomfrey had not been able to make the slightest improvement to her pimples. She’s a lovely person really, said Cho. She just made a mistake Harry looked at her incredulously.A lovely person who made a mistake? She sold us all out, including you!Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

What Happened To Hagrid In The Battle Of Hogwarts
During Harrys last school year, Hagrid returned to Hogwarts at the request of now headmaster Severus Snape. He returned as the gatekeeper and professor of the Care of Magical Beings.
He also had the task of accompanying students who were assigned detention to the Forbidden Forest. Although this may seem a bit cruel it was likely done at the request of Severs Snape since Forbidden Forest tasks with Hagrid were much safer than detentions with Amycus and Alecto Carrow.
Hagrid continued to support Harry and talk about him with other students. He often hosted parties for other students in his hut, to comfort them and lift their spirits amidst everything happening at Hogwarts and in the wizarding world in general.
During one of these parties, he was almost arrested because the meeting was branded as a Harry Potter support party. Since his beliefs made him a constant target and with the added incident Hagrid had to run away.
Due to this event, Hagrid had to go into hiding. It is not clear where he went he most likely hid in the mountains or met up with his half-brother Grawpy. His escape was reported by Lee Jordan via Potterwatch radio.
He remained in hiding all the way until before the battle of Hogwarts when he came out of hiding to prevent his Acromantulas from getting hurt since they escaped the Forbidden Forest and were wandering all over Hogwarts grounds and climbing the castle walls.

Hagrids Last Lines Express Concern For Harry
Last appearance: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
In both the final book and movie, Hagrid is forced to carry what he believes to be Harrys dead body in front of everyone at the Battle of Hogwarts.
In the movie, his last line happens before Harry dies when he calls out, Harry? No! What are you doing here? as the titular hero approaches Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest.
Hagrids final line comes later in the book. After Harry jumps from his arms and shields himself with the Invisibility Cloak, the half-giant yells, HARRY WHERES HARRY?

George Turned Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes Into A Huge Business
Hagrid survived the events of Deathly Hallows, which means that the saddest death in the book belongs to Fred Weasley.
George Weasley was never quite the same after the death of his twin brother. He would go on to marry Angelica Johnson and they would have two children, named Fred and Roxanne. George continued to run the business that he had started with his brother, despite the loss he still felt.
Ron chose not to return to Hogwarts and finish his seventh year. Instead, he became an Auror and worked for the Ministry for two years. Ron then left the Auror office and worked at Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes with George.
Together, the two of them turned it into a huge business, which earned the Weasley family a lot of money. Ron and George are still working for Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes as of the start of The Cursed Child.

Online Leaks And Early Delivery
In the week before its release, a number of texts purporting to be genuine leaks appeared in various forms. On 16 July, a set of photographs representing all 759 pages of the US edition was leaked and was fully transcribed prior to the official release date. The photographs later appeared on websites and peer-to-peer networks, leading Scholastic to seek a subpoena in order to identify one source. This represented the most serious security breach in the Harry Potter series history. Rowling and her lawyer confirmed that there were genuine online leaks. Reviews published in both The Baltimore Sun and The New York Times on 18 July 2007, corroborated many of the plot elements from this leak, and about one day prior to release, The New York Times confirmed that the main circulating leak was real.
Harry Could Have Saved His Parents
Though Harry was the hero in the wizarding world, he was not when it came to his parents’ destiny. If you recall, Harry had the chance to save his parents, and though we thought he would, the cruel murders took place. In the most recent Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, we get a flashback from Delphini to the night Harry’s parents were ruined by Voldemort. Ron, Ginny, and Draco all went back in time with Harry, and that is when Harry disguised himself through magic as Voldemort to make Delphini stop. However, before Harry went back in time, he watched Voldemort destroy his parents from a distance, so must have painful.

Lives In Malfoy Manor
We have also learned from The Cursed Child, as well as Pottermore, that adult Draco and his family live in Malfoy Manor. What is there to say about Malfoy Manor?
It is in Wiltshire, England and weve managed to see a decent amount of the manor since it was a major base of operations for Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. In the movies and books, we can see that the Malfoys were rather uncomfortable with that turn of events. Not really a place with warm memories is it? Voldemorts most loyal girl, Bellatrix , thought it was an honor though.
Theres nothing worse than an intimidating house guest, is there?
According to Pottermore, the cellar is escape-proof, so it can be used to hold prisoners. Such prisoners included Mr. Ollivander, Luna Lovegood, Griphook, and Dean Thomas. Besides prisoners, the people who have lived in its halls include a long line of Malfoys and I suppose Dobby as well for a time.
How the family got the manor goes far back to Armand Malfoy. He was lucky enough to arrive in Britain with William the Conqueror. Due to his subtle and magical services to the king, he got the land in Wiltshire and thus Malfoy Manor was born.
Alan Rickman Was Professor Severus Snape
Alan Rickman played Severus Snape, the Potions professor at Hogwarts. He is largely known as one of the most complicated characters in the series.
Before playing Snape, Rickman was known for appearing as Hans Gruber in “Die Hard” , Colonel Brandon in “Sense and Sensibility” , and Alexander Dane in “Galaxy Quest” .
During “Harry Potter,” Rickman rose to further fame in the cult-classic rom-com “Love Actually” , the horror musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” , and the CGI-filled fantasy “Alice in Wonderland” .

The Deathly Hallows Come Together At Last
There was an interesting Easter egg contained in Harry’s first shot of the last film. As he’s mourning by Dobby’s beachfront grave, he looked in a triangular fragment of a mirror the elf had possessed thanks to the circular nature of his glasses, it created the symbol of the Deathly Hallows in the reflection. It was a wink to how all three elements would eventually be his to do with what he wished.
The Deathly Hallows as Part 1 explained in animated format consisted of the Elder Wand, the Cloak of Invisibility, and the Resurrection Stone. When combined, the three gave a wizard untold power, the ability to disappear from Death’s purview, and a means to bring back lost souls. Voldemort got his hands on one the Elder Wand while Harry had been casually given the cloak in his earliest days at Hogwarts, not knowing its strength. He eventually recovers the Stone, too, after kissing his Snitch goodbye with the intention of sacrificing himself.
Speaking of which …
Neville Longbottom Works As An Auror And A Herbology Teacher
Nevilles journey throughout the Harry Potter series is one of the most fascinating character arcs in the story. He goes from a shy and nervous boy to a brave man who takes out the Dark Lords final Horcrux. The duality of his character is also emphasized by his post-Hogwarts life.
He originally becomes an Auror, following the example of his friends and of his incapacitated parents, Frank and Alice. However, he later changes his career track. He becomes a Herbology teacher at Hogwarts and eventually, Head of Gryffindor House. He marries Hufflepuff Hannah Abbott. While the two dont have children, Neville is the godfather of Harrys second son, Albus Severus.

Harry Obtained A More Powerful Time Turner
The magical object called a time turner was revealed in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
A time turner was given to Hermione in her third year so that she could attend more classes, but she likely never went back in time for more than a day at a time.
In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Harry receives a more powerful time turner from Theodore Nott, which allows its user to time-travel several years in the past and even change history.
It is eventually revealed that this time-turner is actually only a prototype and that Draco Malfoy has the finished model in his possession, which was supposed to be given to his father.
Rowling On Finishing The Book
Deathly HallowsBalmoral Hotel
Rowling completed the book while staying at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh in January 2007, and left a signed statement on a marble bust of Hermes in her room which read: J. K. Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room on 11 January 2007. In a statement on her website, she said, Ive never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric. She compared her mixed feelings to those expressed by Charles Dickens in the preface of the 1850 edition of David Copperfield, a two-years imaginative task. To which, she added, I can only sigh, try seventeen years, Charles. She ended her message by saying Deathly Hallows is my favourite, and that is the most wonderful way to finish the series.
