The Harry Potter franchise kicked off in 2001 with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, which was an immediate hit and began a decade of films starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton and many more.
Warner Bros. rejuvenated the series in 2016 with the prequel adaptation Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based on J.K. Rowlings short book of the same name and following the misadventures of magizoologist Newt Scamander . That movie spurred three films so far, with screenplays by Rowling herself and a story that follows the rise of Gellert Grindelwald

Following the first film’s undeniable success, Warner Bros. Pictures released the sequel, The Chamber of Secrets, in 2002. After an eventful first year at Hogwarts and a harrowing confrontation with the disembodied Voldemort, Harry is anxious to return to school.
However, realizing Harry is in imminent danger, a house-elf named Dobby tries his best to prevent Harry from returning to Hogwarts. Despite Dobby’s efforts, Ron, George, and Fred arrive at the Dursleys in their father’s flying Ford Anglia to rescue Harry and bring him back to the world that he now calls home. But the children simply cannot escape the evil plots swirling around them.

While this installment doesn’t look like it will break franchise records, Lionsgate is predicting a $141.3 million opening weekend, which will be the 8th-best of all time, assuming it holds up. New Moon will most likely remain the top opener for the franchise with $142.8 million, although it will be a close-run thing. This movie is one of the best from the harry potter franchise this movie explains Harrys second year at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An elf warns Harry of the upcoming happenings that are approaching him. Unluckily, the elfs information is right. Harry experiences many strange occurrences like fighting trees, talking spiders, flying cars, and whatnot. He also witnesses deadly warnings that are written on school walls with blood. This year is certainly more difficult and happening than the last one.

Now, here’s where things get slightly tricky. The Fantastic Beasts films are prequels, so they take place decades before the events of the original Harry Potter movies.
Those take place during Harry’s time at Hogwarts, so each book/movie corresponds to a school year. The final two movies split the final book and school year.
Here’s the list of Harry Potter movies and the year in which they are set:
Fantastic Beasts 3 is likely to be set right after the second film in that series and before the events of Sorcerer’s Stone.
And if the Harry Potter stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is made into a movie, it would fall at the end of both the release order and chronological order since it’s set circa 2017.
Why The Time Gap Between Fantastic Beasts & Harry Potter May Never Be Filled
There is a substantial time leap between the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies â but that gap might never be filled. When J.K. Rowling initially set out to make the Fantastic Beasts movies, the original plan was that there would be five in total. The first film in the series performed well, though not as well as the other Harry Potter movies. Studios hit a snag when The Crimes of Grindelwald came out, however, as it’s arguably the worst Potter film of all time. The second Fantastic Beasts installment damaged the series, as it wasn’t well received by audiences and lost a considerable sum of money at the box office. Hopes were certainly not high for Fantastic Beasts 3, and the movie faced a major recast, with Mads Mikkelsen taking Johnny Depp’s place as Gellert Grindelwald. Ezra Miller’s growing list of accusations also didn’t help. Fantastic Beasts 3 opened to mixed reviews, with Mikkelsen’s performance being praised but not much else.

As of now, director David Yates has another film on his production schedule, and no news has come out about the possibility of Fantastic Beasts 4. The movie might not come to fruition, as studios would be unwilling to shell out millions of dollars for another likely flop. When it comes to watching the Harry Potter movies in order, the third Fantastic Beasts film might be the very last on the list, and audience imaginations might have to fill in the blanks.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and some studios were closed for the day, but we have a full list of box office numbers today. Ralph Breaks the Internet continued to lead the way at the box office with $10.3 million on Thursday for a two-day total of $28.8 million. The film is still well above Coco and Moanas two-day pace, but it fell 44% from its Wednesday debut, which is a sharper decline than either of those two films suffered. It is on pace to dominate the five-day weekend with $85 million, which is below yesterdays pace and below Frozens record-setting wide expansion, but I cant imagine there are many people at Disney that are disappointed with this result. The films reviews and its A minus from CinemaScore, plus its family friendly target audience should help it last in theaters till the new year and it should be profitable enough that the studio will want to turn the franchise into a trilogy. Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
Harry’s fifth year begins with him being attacked by Dementors in Little Whinging. Later, he finds out that the Ministry of Magic is in denial of Lord Voldemort’s return. Harry gets help from a new teacher and learns how to defend himself. However, Harry also works on unfolding the secret of his tie with Sirius Black.
